Health & Safety: The University of Florida is a fairly secured place to go to. The only problem is that when a situation does occur, there isn't much confidence among people for the university police to be able to resolve the problem.

Overall Experience: I have had an okay experience with the professors of my program. I've had a few professors that did not really care about conflicting our schedule with other classes. Some were unreasonable and boring.

Overall Experience: I have heard from both professors and alumni that people from University of Florida get first pick in graduate and job prospects. I am confident that I would be able to get a job after graduation.

Campus Housing: The best option to choose for on campus housing would be apartment style since all the other options does not include a kitchen within the living area. The dorms are a little bit expensive for what the school charge. They are pretty convenient since they are so close to your classes. The application process is pretty easy.

Greek Life: I am a non-Greek student and the Greek life seems okay. The housing is a bit expensive for what they are getting. They do some community service from what I've heard, but they also party very, very hard.

4 College Junior

Athletics: The athletic facilities are great and up to date. They are quite large and enjoyable to go to for a workout or any sport activity. When it comes to school spirit, my school has one of the most die-hard and loyal fans that I have seen. My school bleeds orange and blue (school colors). Participating in intramural basketball and soccer was really fun.

Overall Experience: My favorite experience at University of Florida was being involved with the architecture program where I got to meet all the professors that taught me about architecture. I also was able to get acquainted with the people in the program that I also got to learn from as well. The basketball and football games are fun and the people are great and helpful.

Overall Experience: It is the best thing that has happened to me!!

Health & Safety: I feel safe walking around campus alone. There are emergency response stations within a couple hundred yards from each other all around campus. The police station is in the middle of campus and the police are always seen driving around at night. No incidents ever happen on campus, but any crime that we hear about is off campus.

Overall Experience: Each professor is extremely intelligent and you can tell that they know what they're doing. They seem to care about the students and their education, however some classes are difficult. Some professors go fast in lectures so you have to keep up and pay attention. Class sizes range anywhere from 20 up to 700 depending on the course you're taking.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: UF is a very renowned school and a degree from here is a great accomplishment. Shand's hospital offers volunteering opportunities for anyone in the medical field, so it is easy to get an early start to an internship. Florida alumni are found just about everywhere and remain their school pride throughout all walks of life. Campus services can be very helpful if you find the right person to help you with what you're looking for.

Campus Housing: I live in broward and love it. It was recently renovated, so the rooms and bathrooms are new, clean and updated. Each floor usually has occasional get-togethers in the lounge so everyone gets to know each other. The cost is not too bad and it's very convenient being next to classes and food.

Greek Life: Many people around campus are Greeks. You see them walk around in their matching jackets and shirts all the time, and non-Greeks usually find the Greeks annoying and cliquey. The Greeks do a few good things around campus, but they are mostly known for partying all the time.

Athletics: The spirit that all the students have at sporting events puts the opposing teams to shame. Multiple teams are national champions in varsity sports. Intramural sports are very popular, a majority of the people I know are on one of the teams.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Being around so many intelligent people is amazing. The passion that all the students and teachers have for the school makes it very enjoyable. Gathering everyone together in the swamp for football games is so much fun, and I wouldn't want to be at any other school.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I'm too old and past this to care :-)

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Applying to COM can be frustrating as so much of the communication between the program is done by phone, but it was all worth it when I got into PA school.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Gator Athletics are some of the best supported of any school I've seen. Even "lesser" sports like gymnastics, women's lacrosse and softball draw amazing crowds.

Overall Experience: Courses were challenging and fulfilling. Overall, no major issues.

Overall Experience: Value of a degree from UF is very high. I've encountered many working professionals who automatically view me as reputable and bright, based on the sole fact that I graduated from UF.

Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe on campus. I think it's known that there are areas to avoid at night around campus (primarily if you're a girl) but that would be applicable for most universities.

Campus Housing: A lot of the buildings are old, but then again, the school has been around for over 100 years! I lived in Jennings my freshman year so I made sure to upgrade to Springs for my sophomore year; after that, I moved off-campus, as most do.

Greek Life: As a non-Greek, I think Greek life is expensive. I know good people both in and out of fraternities.

5 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: UF is a quality institution. Sure, I may be biased, but I think it's know far and wide that both our academics and student life are above average. It's a great environment for undergraduate studies, and I haven't regretted it for a second.

5 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: There are a variety of opportunities to get involved in sports, both as a spectator and an athlete. The intramural teams are both fun and competitive with a lot to choose from to meet every interest; they're also a great way to make friends. School spirit at UF is unrivaled. Go Gators!

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
