Drug Safety: There really isn't a big drug emphasis on campus. Drinking is more popular with the drug thing usually only happening at raves such as Dayglow etc.

3 College Freshman

Administration: Unless you're actually looking for trouble you won't find any. RA's are generally nice and laid back though chances are you might encounter one who has let the power go to their heads.

Guys & Girls: In terms of the girls, you have a little bit of everything. You have a lot of beautiful girls, and you also have some busted ones. There's girls for every type of guy, with girls with different looks and from different backgrounds

5 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life is pretty big here. If you are a girl, it is not necessary to be in a sorority as you can still attend frat parties without being in one, but if you're a guy, its going to be tough to party unless you have friends that have their own house, know a lot of people, and can get drinks. Greek Life is also not as stereotyped. You have a fraternity and sorority for everyone. You just have to find the right one.

Campus Quality: Our facilities are great. Some of our buildings are a little old, but inside they're pretty nice. Our gym (Southwest Rec) is incredible and was recently renovated.

Diversity: I've seen students from all backgrounds here at UF, and most of all, we respect each other.

Campus Housing: I live in Rawlings, and while its not luxurious since its a dorm, it does allow you to meet A LOT of people, and its also very close to classes, which allows you to get to class on time in case you wake up a little late.

Athletics: Gator sporting events are great. Even though we didn't have any night games this year, the Swamp was rocking for every game, especially for LSU and South Carolina. Next year should be even better. On top of that, basketball games are a ton of fun as well and our teams as a whole are always ranked among the best in the country

Academics: I'm still a freshman but I feel like all the classes are challenging enough and that all of the students are very smart and highly motivated. As an accounting major, I heard that the accounting classes are going to be very challenging so I'm going to enjoy my freshman year while I still can

Parking: There is absolutely no way to get any parking at the University of Florida unless you get there at 7:30 in the morning.

Greek Life: Greek Life is big at the University of Florida. A larger part of the student population than most is Greek, and obviously because Florida is a SEC school, Greek Life is hyped up a lot more. I'm in a Fraternity, and it's pretty different from the stereotypical movie fraternity; while the Greeks do throw parties and are a big part of the social scene, they also contribute a great bulk to the academic/community service aspects of the University.

Local Area: If you've heard of Gator Nation, it is no joke; living in Gainesville is evidence of that. The University of Florida is very diverse, but the Gators bring everyone together into a cohesive environment that greatly benefits the community that we live in.

Majors: There are a varied of majors at my college from dance to women studies to health professions. Every major has their own unique classes and interships/job opportunities/study abroad programs. I am in the College of Agircutural and Life Sciences and my education experience has been great so far. The workload no matter your major is going to be difficult but with time management and dedication everyone can get thorugh it. The teaching facilities are not bad, the class sizes for the core course are 300 plus students, but some classes that are speific to your major are smaller and gives you a chance to get to know your professors.

Academics: I'm in the College of Agricutural and Life Sciences and I have been satisfied with my education so far. The facilities are in desent shape, the workload is difficult no matter your major you just have to put the work in and be dedicated, its all about time management. My professors are really dedicated and knowledgeable about the subject they are teaching; they are very helpful and want to see every student do thier best. There are plenty of internships and job opportunities and study abroad programs that students can take part in, but it is very competitive.

Party Scene: Night life for students of 18 and older is pretty good. There are some place that only allow 21 and older students. I personally think house parties are better than the nightlife, one because its free for everyone and because there is free drinks, much better music, and house parties last about 5 hours where you pay to go to the club for 2 to 3 hours.

2 College Junior

Weather: The weather is bipolar, its sunny and clear skies when your on your way to class and then stormy and rainy when you get out of class. At one time there was no sun for about two weeks. Its sometimes cold at night during the winter months, very hot during the summer months, but very nice weather during spring.

3 College Junior

Administration: The police force is really laid back, they understand that its a college town and that there will be underage drinking. But that does not mean a person should walk around campus acting belligerent. They are there for keeping the students and campus safe and they do a pretty good job

4 College Junior

Technology: There are several locations where you can use computers and get free printing. The comupters labs are usually crowded during certain times of the day and during exam week. Must people have their own computers and can connect to free WiFi throughout the campus.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: The guys at UF are normally nice. Pretty much everyone loves to party.

5 College Sophomore

Transportation: The transportation options are just awesome. The RTS bus system is really great, you almost never even have to plan ahead. Most people bike or walk too.

5 College Freshman

Party Scene: All of the clubs are accessible to 18+ age. Furthermore, there are constant parties for every reason.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drugs are highly prohibited in the UF Campus and if found, it can ultimately lead to expulsion.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: The night bus service is terrible but the day time service is great.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: I personally do not have a meal plan through the university. There are a few dining halls that tend to be expensive if you don't have flex bucks or some other sort of pre-paid meal plan. There are also restaurants around campus such as Subway, Panda Express, Moes, Chickfila, etc. Those are really popular and remind you that you don't have to eat campus food to be in college. It's all what you're willing to pay for.

5 College Senior

Campus Quality: Gainesville is a college town. Basically everyone has some relation to the university. It's amazing to see this entire small town unified over one thing, the university. Homecoming is a fabulous time of year because people from across the city come to UF to see the parade, go to gator growl, etc. The public schools in the county even have the Friday of homecoming off of school! This is a unique college experience because many schools are in large towns.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
