Greek Life: Greeks will every once in a while be at Turlington Plaza, a large area where most people hang out or walk through, and they will promote their frat or sorority. I don't think that Greeks are neither looked down upon or looked as "gods" by non-Greeks.

Athletics: Our school is very spirited. The entire city is spirited. You go to Walmart or Publix and you see older generations and small children supporting our athletics programs.

Overall Experience: I love it! The professors are great and motivated. I feel at home here and the campus is beautiful. I have no regrets.

Health & Safety: UF has tons of resources to help victims of any sort. The UFPD is a great group of people and really strive to keep their students safe. I live off campus near sorority row and there are always UFPD cars everywhere to ensure the safety of students. Their are emergency towers all over campus if you ever feel unsafe you can easily press the button on it and UFPD will quickly be dispatched to your location. Also, the UFPD has put together SNAP, with is a driving service that will pick you up from select locations and take you all over campus so you don't have to walk alone. It is driven by students.

Overall Experience: As a science major a lot of the classes I am taking are very difficult but they are doable! I've enjoyed every course I have taken so far and the profs do their best to make everything interesting. Like all schools there are some good profs and some not so good profs so definitely do your research before registering for courses. Study Edge an other tutoring services make some of the more difficult courses more manageable, but I know many people who do just fine without using them, they just may have to put in more time. There are tons of courses I look forward to taking and there is really something for everyone here! My class sizes are appropriate with my discussion classes being about 20 students large and my lecture have 200+ students. It may sound like a lot, but it seems reason once you are in the course. All course resources are online and the online program UF uses is great and easy to use.

Campus Housing: I briefly lived in a dorm for my first summer semester then moved to an apartment. My decision didn't have anything to do with the quality of UF dorms but it was more cost effective. I recommend living in a dorm to meet people.

Greek Life: I am not currently in Greek life but I plan on rushing in the fall. Tons of my friends are in sororities and fraternities and they love it! As a girl it is easy to still have a social life without being in a sorority because you can still attend frat parties. As a boy not in a fraternity, having a social life is a lot more difficult. You cab't attend frat parties or events so you'll have to stick to the bar scene which can be pretty pricey after a while and a little boring if you are under drinking age. I definitely recommend going Greek for both boys and girls because it gives you a much larger social life and it's so much easier to hear about things going on.

Athletics: School spirit is huge here at The University of Florida! Game days are crazy and fun making the fall the best time of the year. On gamedays everyone is so welcoming and friendly and you all feel like one big gator family!

Overall Experience: Absolutely love it here in Gainesville! I am so happy with my decision to be a Florida Gator and wouldn't want it any other way! Go Gators!

Health & Safety: There are plenty of services to help students feel more safe offered through the University Police Department and the Health and Wellness center. You can ask to have an officer walk you around campus or call the SNAP service to drive you to your destination on campus.

Overall Experience: There's so many courses, including scuba diving. Most of the professors are available and interested in questions in my field.

Overall Experience: Through the Career Resource Center, there are numerous companies looking specifically for University of Florida students.

Campus Housing: Every dorm has different perks and downfalls. Some are closer to the dining hall or classes than others, some have better utilities.

Greek Life: There's a not-so-good stigma about Greeks.

Athletics: The gyms are available for all students!

Overall Experience: There's a place for everyone in the Gator Nation.

Health & Safety: I have only had one friend who has been sexually assaulted and that was three years ago. This was obviously a terrible tragedy, and unfortunately it happens too often, but I feel like the school is doing all it can to prevent these crimes from happening.

Overall Experience: I've had the best nights and worst nights of my life during my time as a student at this school. Studying for my engineering classes, partying with my best friends ever, making a difference in an organization are all examples of the times I have had at UF.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: My degree is extremely valuable and I believe I will have a great job after I graduate. I have not had an internship yet though, however, but I will get one for sure.

Campus Housing: I enjoyed living on campus my freshman year since I met many people and it was close to campus. However, the room was really small and the rules were a hassle.

4 College Junior

Greek Life: I am part of Greek life and it is the best thing I have done in college. I have a family that I can go to for anything and we do everything we can to give back to the community. I also live in the house and it is super cheap and super convenient. If you are a male, and you want to be a part of social life, Greek life is the place to be.

5 College Junior

Athletics: We have won a championship in something for as long as I can remember.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: Amazing school with everything you want in the college experience.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There is sufficient help for those after a harmful act takes place, but there could be more done to help prevent these occurrences.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
