4 College Sophomore

Academics: As a business managements major, I can personally attest to the abundance of qualified and capable professors that populate this major. Most, if not all, are highly successful in their chosen field and are more then happy to lend a helping hand to determined students, whether it be personalized help or networking.

Off-Campus Dining: There is a large variety of dining right across the street from campus ranging from fairly cheap to pretty expensive. As you get further away from campus, you'll notice many familiar dining establishments with some classier restaurants in the downtown area.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The professors are top notch and the learning atmosphere is great. The university of Florida has one of the best accounting programs and is an acclaimed graduate school in a variety of fields. The teachers and faculty foster and promote academic success.

Majors: I am in physical therapy graduate school. It is very rigorous, and I can honestly say that I studied more for my first exam in PT school than I did in all of undergrad. That being said, the things that we are learning now directly apply to what we will be doing in our careers, instead of having to take electives that are just filler, etc. I would absolutely do everything over again. Physical therapy is a growing profession, even in light of the impending healthcare reform. This means that job prospects are good. My only concern is that tuition will be roughly $75,000 for grad school alone in state. I love my future job, but I would like to be able to pay back my loans before I'm old and gray. That being said, UF was actually one of the least expensive options for me, especially considering the higher rankings and caliber of the program.

Majors: It was very easy to get into both of my majors. All I had to do was fill out some paperwork and meet with an advisor. Aside from that, I registered for classes online the same way everyone else does, and had no problem completing them on time. The potential downfall is that you have to be very independent. No one will hold your hand to make sure that you are on track, so when registering, you must pay attention to required courses, etc.

Weather: Summers suck because it rains everyday and even with an umbrella, you tend to get soaked. 90% of the year, it is really hot and muggy. That could be a positive if you hate the cold.

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: Study Abroad options are great and easy to get into. They are lots of fun and worth the money to gain the experience.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: So many food options walking distance from campus.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: It's always fun on campus, everything is within reach and you get used to the iffy dorms

3 College Freshman

Local Area: Not much to do off of campus, but there's no need to leave campus

5 College Senior

Campus Quality: We have over 900 student clubs and organizations. You will find something that fits you perfectly. We also have amazing personal development retreats like Gatorship that help you be a better student leader. Our student government is interesting in that one party is run entirely by Greeks. This party used to be in total control but the opposition party is getting stronger and stronger and it's definitely worth joining if you're politically minded. Midtown is good for partying if you're WASPy or Greek, Downtown is good for all sorts of people. We have amazing music and drama performances in different genres. BEST SCHOOL EVER, BASICALLY.

Health & Safety: It may be because UFPD sends us alerts every time a crime happens in or around our university, but it seems like there's a lot of armed robbery and assault on the edges of campus. Particularly near sorority row and Norman Garage. That being said, we have plenty of security options such as SNAP (Student Nighttime Auxiliary Patrol) which is a *marked* van that gives free rides to students around campus from 6pm-4am and Emergency Blue Lights. Also I've always felt safe walking around downtown at night. Date rape or rape at frat parties is a much larger concern than being assaulted by a stranger.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: The varsity teams are good in almost every sport and are exciting to watch.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: The food at gator dining is better than broward dining.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There are many different apartments to live in and most come fully furnished. Buses go to the apartments as well

2 College Junior

Greek Life: Greek like at UF is average, its not a huge deal but they are definitely noticeable on campus. Some of them really do their part and are an asset to the community other are not. But I don't have first hand experience so I can't really say much

5 College Senior

Party Scene: Plenty of bars, clubs and partying to do at the University of Florida. It definitely helps to be Greek (in a sorority or fraternity) but not required in order to have fun. Great prices, great location to the school and very fun!

4 College Senior

Technology: Everything is very new, up-to-date and the very accessible. You get 500 pages of printing per semester and some labs have free printing within certain colleges. Overall, pretty great.

3 College Senior

Local Area: The college campus feel is great the surrounding town seems to revolve around UF. I will say though that traffic is pretty bad, the cops are bored and looking for trouble and that there is little to do if you don't like going to clubs or bars. Great sports, great food and everything is "college cheap" so it balances out.

4 College Senior

Drug Safety: The school focuses more on the safety and encouraging not to do drugs or alcohol rather than being naive and putting all of their efforts into prevention. The rules are put in place, rides are put in place to avoid DUI/DWI's and they have many programs set in place to help with prevention, awareness and incentives to avoid potential problems. UF definitely plays it well and while UF is a huge party school, they are a very successful and prosperous education establishment.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: All sorts of people, very diverse but almost all are smart

5 College Freshman

Transportation: Public transportation is free as long as you show your UF ID. there are multiple bus stops around campus. the buses run frequently.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: It's pretty good overall, but the Broward Dining Hall is very disorganized most of the time.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are a ton of places to go to. Mi Apa is my favorite place to go. It is cheap and very tasty. Other places I like to go is Peach Valley which is a breakfast place. There are many different places for you to go to. Almost any kind of cuisine you want they have

3 College Junior

Scholarships: The application process was difficult. It was also hard to get in touch with an advisor. I received some financial aid but not enough to cover all my needs.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
