Parking: Parking can be a hassle, but I find no need to drive around campus during the day. Parking is restricted, but living in a dorm, I find I do not move my car. If you live off campus, they do have a commuter lot that holds a lot of spots, but you might want to get there early. Parking restrictions are lifted after 5 every weekday and during the weekends except for Saturday game days. DO NOT drive to campus when there is a home football game.

Academics: I came in as a biology major under a pre-med program. I find that the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable in their respective fields. Grades are given fairly, but you do have top work hard for them. Most classes rely almost entirely on test grades, but there are certain computer programs assigned by the teacher that can both help you study and slightly boost your grade. I believe this is an excellent program.

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many choices to eat at off-campus. You'll never get tired of the options and they're easy to get to.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: There is a variety of food places off campus. The on campus dining is not bad either especially the chain restaurants you can find like Moe's and Panda Express. It is really convenient for students to eat anywhere on campus.

5 College Junior

Athletics: There is a lot of student involvement in sports at UF. Even non participants participate in supporting the UF team. The facilities for training are accessible and very well maintained. Trainers are available to offer advise and train on how to improve. Student cultural diversity is what really makes UF great

4 College Junior

Transportation: Transportation is accessible when school is in session

3 College Freshman

Administration: The school is very open to allowing students to pursue healthy social lives. The police are strict on certain issues such as drugs and hazing which makes the school better off.

Scholarships: The University of Florida's financial aid office is very unhelpful and offers very little in the name of financial aid. Every time I have gone to the office they have done nothing to solve my problems.

Local Area: The community directly near the campus is friendly and inviting, but once you adventure away from campus it is not so nice.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The bus goes virtually everywhere you would need to go: around campus, target, the mall, Publix, etc. and it is free to UF students

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Our school has a huge involvement in dance marathon and has gator growl every year which is the biggest student run event. There is always something going on and a club for everything imaginable.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: University of Florida has great gyms and every student center imaginable. There is an abundance of school spirit and tradition is very important.

Weather: Weather here is beautiful. It can get hot during the summer, but for most of the year, it is perfectly mild.

4 College Freshman

Weather: It's Florida so the weather can be a bit bipolar. There are the "rainy" months where it doesn't hurt to carry an umbrella with you, even if the day started out sunny.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: Transportation is great. You have the RTS Bus System which can take you ANYWHERE, and its also FREE. You have an app you can download (Transloc) which tells you where the bus is so you dont even have to sit outside waiting for it.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Parking can be a bit of a pain in the ass sometimes, and it sucks having to park far away, but once you figure out the system, you'll be fine. I have never gotten a ticket through one semester (knock on wood), so just follow the rules and you'll be good

5 College Freshman

Party Scene: Nightlife here is great. You have your fair share of frat parties, and you also have Midtown, which is full of bars and Downtown, which has the clubs.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I always feel very safe at UF. As long as you are not walking alone at night, you should be good. And with programs like SNAP (which picks you up from anywhere on campus for free), there is no reason why you should be doing that. There is also an infirmary on campus where you can get a free flu shot or be seen by doctors of every specialty.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: There really isn't a big drug emphasis on campus. Drinking is more popular with the drug thing usually only happening at raves such as Dayglow etc.

3 College Freshman

Administration: Unless you're actually looking for trouble you won't find any. RA's are generally nice and laid back though chances are you might encounter one who has let the power go to their heads.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: In terms of the girls, you have a little bit of everything. You have a lot of beautiful girls, and you also have some busted ones. There's girls for every type of guy, with girls with different looks and from different backgrounds

5 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life is pretty big here. If you are a girl, it is not necessary to be in a sorority as you can still attend frat parties without being in one, but if you're a guy, its going to be tough to party unless you have friends that have their own house, know a lot of people, and can get drinks. Greek Life is also not as stereotyped. You have a fraternity and sorority for everyone. You just have to find the right one.

Campus Quality: Our facilities are great. Some of our buildings are a little old, but inside they're pretty nice. Our gym (Southwest Rec) is incredible and was recently renovated.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: I've seen students from all backgrounds here at UF, and most of all, we respect each other.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I live in Rawlings, and while its not luxurious since its a dorm, it does allow you to meet A LOT of people, and its also very close to classes, which allows you to get to class on time in case you wake up a little late.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
