Transportation: Excellent bus service.there's a bus in every 10 min and the best part is that the bus can be tracked using trasloc app.UF had the most convenient and well connected bus service.late night travel are well supported by lator gator buses.

Weather: It is extremely hot in the summer months, but otherwise the weather is pleasant. The winter is almost non-existent and it usually only rains during hurricane season.

Greek Life: Greek life is extremely prevalent on campus. They run all major student organizations, such as student government. If you are in Greek life you will have many more opportunities than non-Greek students. However, this system divides the campus.

Transportation: Buses run fairly often and all over town and campus and are completely free to students. The only problem arises when the bus comes to popular apartment complexes and the bus is already full.

Guys & Girls: You have your typical looking guys here. Occasionally there will someone pretty hot and he's probably in a fraternity boy. It's a little less determined for girls, but there are quite a few pretty girls. I'd say the ratio of attractive girls is higher than attractive guys. Some of both gender seem distant, but everyone is pretty friendly when you put yourself out there. Everyone dresses pretty well. I'm starting to think I'm the only one who shows up to class looking like I got run over by a car.

Academics: UF is great with the diverse knowledge of professors, the great classes, especially the types of classes available. The registration process can be a little tricky to figure out, but a lot of the time it is pretty simple compared to that of other schools that I have heard about. If you can't get into a class you need to stay on track, you can talk to your academic advisor and they will explain what you need to do to get into the class. The workload, depending on your major, can be difficult. It is a lot and normally it isn't entirely easy. But tutors, study groups, TA's, and professors are all available for a decent amount of time after classes, and during office hours to get help. UF offers a lot of free tutoring, and so many libraries that if you need somewhere to be quiet and study, you'll find it no problem.

Diversity: The diversity at the University of Florida is crazy. With 55,000 people on campus you see and meet people from nearly every background. In my residence hall a lone there are 20-some girls each from a different country! The school is known for its amazing diversity, not only of race but of financial background as well.

Academics: I am in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences as a Chemistry major. I am extremely satisfied with the education I am receiving from UF. The quality of education is extremely high, as well as demanding. The curriculum of a Chemistry major is pretty much every major core science, multiple calculuses, and if it has not be fulfilled already, some english credits. The laboratories are a bit worn down and could use a remodeling, but the stafff is impecable and extremely knowledgable. There are plenty of opportunities for free tutoring and extra help from the teachers, in fact it is encouraged. UF provides an amazing chance to network with many wonderful and intelligent instructors and counselors for when it is time to get a job. Not to mention they have incredible opportunities for research and internships.

Guys & Girls: There's something for every type here. There's a lot of diversity on campus, so everyone is a little bit different. It pulls from all over, so you can find your country boys and rednecks, your southern belles and country girls right next to your city boys, preppy boys, ravers, preppy girls, chongas, alternatives, whatever. There's every type of person here, and lots of options for dating and hooking up.

Transportation: Public transportation is excellent on and around campus. There are buses that can pick you up all over campus and take you close or directly to where you need to be. They stop at all the prime shopping locations, so any student's need can be met; Walmart, the Mall, Publix, Target, etc. Once you're off campus there's still stops within walking distance. There's also a student patrol service that transports students late at night from any area on campus to another. There's also the Later Gator, which transports students at night on weekends, from Midtown and Downtown areas to places around and on campus. This is all free for students.

Weather: Even though Florida is known as the sunshine state, Gainesville is known to the students as Rainesville. It is mostly sunny but showers can move into town quickly so it is smart to always have an umbrella near by. Most classes are close to the dorms and if they aren't you can always ride the RTS. During football season always wear sunscreen to the games because it does get hot in the swamp!

Local Area: Gainesville is a great town. Even though it is only known for the University of Florida there are plenty of local places to go. The local restaurants are delicious and Lake Walburg is a great place to spend a relaxing day. There are plenty of clubs and bars to party with your friends.

Majors: I have not had an internship yet but I realize their importance. Even though most internships are unpaid positions, it is worth the commitment due to the experience you gain. An internship helps major companies realize that you are experienced and can work for them some day.

Off-Campus Housing: Pros: It is nice to live close to campus without being on campus, parking is always a big factor and most apartments have plenty of parking.
Cons: The apartments are a little bit expensive (less than the dorms of course).

Local Area: Total college atmosphere, town revolves around UF!

Academics: Part of the reason why I chose to attend UF is because it has one of the largest catalog of majors to choose from. I am a Business student in the Fisher School of Accounting. The courses for this program range from very difficult "weed-out" courses to meaningful, and not too difficult, courses that definitely will help you later on in life. Perhaps the most impressive part of the Fisher school, and the Business school in general, is the extensive networking, advising, and career preparedness network they have. All the advisors truly care about the students and want us to succeed in life. There is much to be desired in terms of study abroad options though; it is difficult for an Accounting student to study abroad with all of the difficult coursework that has to be completed at UF.

Transportation: Busses are available when you need them and run often, the campus circulator busses take you to the center of campus which is walking distance from most classes. However, nighttime and weekend busses are much less frequent and/or not available. Busses that run off campus take you to the important parts of Gainesville, but are usually lengthy in terms of time. UF has many Zipcar rental locations, and the company charges you on a student rate making them affordable and always accessible. They are able to be rented from 1 hour to whole days making them great for running off campus errands.

Greek Life: Not part of one, I wouldn't know how their life affects campus. Not many of them are heard of.

3 College Junior

Party Scene: The best things are house parties, but the night life in mid-town and down-town are ok. Transportation is great, no need to drive at night for any reason. If you drink don't drive, cops are everywhere!

Campus Quality: UF has a lot of school spirit, everyone here is proud to be a part of the Gator Nation. From traditions at footballs games to the packed bleachers at basketball games, you'll never have a dull moment. There are plenty of opportunities for internships and volunteering. The campus is big, but thanks to our bus system it is very easy to get from point A to point B. People are very friendly and are always willing to help.

Greek Life: Greek life dominates UF. They are good for the parties and alcohol, however they basically just get drunk and make a lot of noise. I feel like everyone I meet is in a frat or sorority. It is kind of annoying because they act like they are the best and are very cliquey. However some of them are very nice. There are plenty of greek housing available.

Health & Safety: I have not ever experienced anything that has harmed me on campus. I have not felt threatened either. UF has SNAP vans that will drive you around when you call so that you don't have to walk or go anywhere alone. Also, they have emergency light poles for you to press in every area around campus. Lastly, they do send emails and text messages whenever there is a threat, and the message will tell you what the person looks like, where they are and what to do. I think any college campus you choose is going to have some areas where you should not go, and you should never walk by yourself at night wherever you go, so a threat can be possible anywhere. It is really up to you to be smart about your decisions when traveling alone and at night.

5 College Senior

Athletics: Students are very involved in the sports surrounding UF. They will cheer and dress to impress in orange and blue! The teams at UF are pretty good and are ranked very high. The facilities are top quality and all of the sports are free for students, except for football games, but it is only $15 for a ticket. I love the atmosphere around game time, because people get so into the game and it's so much fun!

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: Busses are free for students and come often and regularly. At night there's SNAP which will take you to any place on campus for free. Also the Later Gator is convenient for leaving Midtown on the weekends.

4 College Sophomore

Technology: I've really only ever used my personal computer but there are plenty of computers available in the libraries, some labs even have dual screens.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
