Parking: Too many students too few spots. The parking on campus is terrible, always a hassle. Permits are pricey and it is very easy to get a ticket here.

Off-Campus Housing: There's a great variety of off-campus housing. The landlords seem somewhat friendly and reasonable. Some apartments are gorgeous and way above average and some are simply average. Most are located near a convenient shopping area and public transportation spot. Security seems great and costs vary a lot.

Academics: I love my program and am very passionate about it. The course options for it are excellent and the faculty is the best. The workload is very manageable. They also greatly assist you with getting jobs and internships.

Off-Campus Dining: There is a nice variety of food options from Jamaican to Mexican and Italian.

Guys & Girls: There's appearance is average. Some of them are very friendly and fun and value friendship.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: I have not heard of peer pressure besides in the Greek life. Alcohol is visible outside of clubs but that is the only exception.

2 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I wish I had a better roommate match and my residence building is not within walking distance of the dining halls. The social atmosphere is average.

3 College Freshman

Campus Quality: The GatorNights are pretty nice. Midtown has a lot of night life and is located on the fringe of the campus.

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: It is one of the 2 schools I found in the USA with the Wildlife Ecology and Conservation undergraduate program. The campus is gorgeous and there are so many student organizations, you are bound to find one for you.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The buses are free for students and take you most places on campus and around the city.

3 College Freshman

Weather: It's generally warm here and the weather varies from rainy to sunny but it does not have a huge impact on my day.

3 College Junior

Administration: I wish they would be more stict about things like alcohol, underage drinking and drugs

Campus Housing: Some love dorm living, and its definitely convenient to classes and other things, but not having you own room or bathroom can be a bit of a pain sometimes

Parking: When you live off campus as an undergrad, you pay the same amount for a decal ($150 per year) as those who live in dorms, but you can only park in places that are at least a 10-15 minute bus ride from the main part of campus.

Party Scene: There's a street row of bars and clubs right on the fringe of the campus. Convenience is great and it's usually packed. They try to mix up the music too to cater to the diversity range.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: emergency phones throughout campus, relatively high police presence, SNAP service so you dont walk alone at night or drive drunk

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: It's like any typical Greek life atmosphere where some Greeks stay out of trouble and others find themselves in it.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: The dining hall is very far from my dorm but I am able to use my meal plan at a center close by.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
