4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The dorm life is very enjoyable. The rooms were clean and organized coming in and therefore made it comfortable to live.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: The Greek life on campus is very popular and provides a good image for the community.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: I am a student athlete at the University of Florida and the amount of support and resources that are offered is amazing.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: This school provides a lot of academic support, while also proving to be very school-spirited.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I don't hear too much about crime on campus, and I always feel pretty safe walking across campus, even at night.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: This school is hard. I'm not going to lie about that. Sure, you can mess around during "syllabus week" but you really have to get it together after that. ALWAYS do your homework and assignments. Even if you have grade drops, even if you forgot about a quiz and took it in the Dentist's chair like I did, always do your assignment or it'll come back to bite you later. Lectures are usually huge and discussions are smaller sized classes with your TA. Going to discussion is not always necessary, but it might be a good idea to go if you think you need help from your TA for the course.

Overall Experience: In terms of a degree from a college in Florida, your degree means more at this school than any other school. If you're going into a competitive work field, your degree from this school proves that you are a hard-worker. I promise it will help.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I love living close to all of my classes, but there are truly cheaper housing options off-campus, and it really sucks to have to share amenities and bathrooms.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: If you find the right fraternity or sorority, life can be really great for you. Use it to your advantage, don't just "pay for your friends."

5 College Freshman

Athletics: We not only have so much school spirit for our major sports, but intramurals and club teams also receive an immense amount of support and credit.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love absolutely everything about this school. Sure, academics are difficult and it's impossible to get involved or internships due to the intense competition, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I would say that UF has a pretty good set up as far as safety goes. There have only been a few occurrences of criminal activity; it definitely isn't a prime concern.

Overall Experience: I would say that it's the best but there's always gonna be that handful of professors/courses that you just can't stand. Other than this seldom tragedy, UF has the best professors/courses.

Overall Experience: The level of effort put in towards student careers is absolutely amazing. There are so many opportunities and events for students to reach out and attend. If you graduate from UF without ever having a job, internship, or career established, it's your own fault.

Campus Housing: I mean it's not the greatest thing but it gives me a convenient place to live while I'm in school.

Greek Life: Greek life definitely plays a role in campus life however, it's more in the matter that they sponsor and take part in a lot of events.

Athletics: The athletics at UF are among the best in the nation. Our facilities are state of the art and facilitate all who are interested in using them.

Overall Experience: My Overall Experience at my school has been mostly good so far. Yes it has been stressful and extremely challenging at times but, I know that this is the requirement to uphold such greatness in pursing a degree at UF.

Campus Housing: While the dorm I lived in was nice, it made life very very difficult.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I am not a huge fan of the concept of greek life in general but I do think its presence is a little to prominent on campus, and I think it promotes incredibly unhealthy body images and lifestyle habits for many students specifically at UF.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: I think that our athletic programs are incredibly strong. They truly help unite the entire student body as some people make the programs great, and everyone else supports them together tying us all in to be one big family.

Overall Experience: I think that UF is a great school, and that there is opportunity everywhere. However, it can be difficult to find your niche your first year because the campus is so large. In particular, I lived in springs (the athlete dorm) and hardly anyone EVER interacted which was frustrating as I wasn't an athlete and was looking to make friends. Additionally, as a freshman I got stuck with almost all online classes due to a poor registration date which further isolated me from my peers. But I still managed to make good friends and get involved, I just think it took a lot more effort for me than for most students.

Some schools have certain advantages over others. Small schools give a feeling of community; large schools have lots of resources; private schools are ripe for close academic relationships with faculty; and state schools offer a good value. Well, UF is not your typical state school, and Gainesville is certainly not your stereotypical small town. Because this place is so big, it has all of the libraries, dorms, athletics, courses, clubs, and services you could want at a good price. But if you put forth just a little effort, you’ll find that the University also has more compassionate, down-to-earth professors, locals, and students that any small, private school could ever dream of having.

The best thing about going to a school like UF is that whatever you want to accomplish in life, it is probably obtainable through going to this school. You will never have to worry about not fitting in with anyone because the campus is a huge melting pot. Students are never bored on campus because there is literally always something to do with friends both on or off campus. And who wouldn't want to go to a school where the immense amount of school pride is literally unexplainable? It sure is great to be a Florida Gator.
