Facts & Statistics

Tips for Getting In
  • Apply early.
  • Get good grades and test scores.
  • Get involved in extracurriculars and community service.
  • Write a good essay.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • "Cool" is subjective; do what you want to do, not what everyone does.
  • Fraternity parties are not all they are rumored to be.
  • Limit your meal plan, and maximize your points.
  • Marijuana is very popular; almost everyone smokes it or has in the past.
  • Talk your parents into an allowance if at all possible.
  • There is not a big art or music scene.
  • This is not the party school it once was. There has been a major crackdown on underage drinking, which limits the weekend entertainment.
Interviews & Information Sessions
Contact the admissions office at (302) 831-8123 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. Groups of 10 or more must make reservations at least two weeks in advance. For interviews, contact the desired department. They generally aren't required but are given by request.
Campus Tours
The Visitors Center is located at 196 S. College Ave. Tours are given weekdays at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Reservations are recommended for Saturday tours.
Overnight Visits
Many programs, like the honors program and minority life, have overnight visitation programs. Overnight visits give you a chance to find out what life is like as a UD student. As many of these programs take place on weekend nights or in the summer, it may not give you a great perspective on actual UD life. Be careful not to base your whole decision on one weekend. To find out more about these programs contact the admissions department at (302) 831-8123 or
