Athletics: Fans?? Where Are They? UD's sports teams are very competitive! The student fan support is lacking to say the least! The locals are crazy with their support!!

Guys & Girls: Not Enough Good Looking Guys!! You will find that the ratio of girls to guys is 60/40. Sad part is that the guys are not that great looking and the good looking ones are all taken.

Health & Safety: Very Poor – Safety appears to be a major concern here at UD. There are so many crimes committed each day by the locals robbing and often assaulting the students. One would think with all the law enforcement officers that there would be better patrolling on the the campus and surronging areas. However they are quick to be there for a j-walking or music that can barely be heard from the outside.

Administration: UD is actually very lenient. Campus police are pretty tolerant of drinking on weekends but if a student is clearly drunk and underage they will obviously get in trouble. The penalty for having alcohol in your room can be pretty severe, especially if it is the state police that catches you. A word to the wise: do not have parties in your room/house.

Diversity: Melting Pot – The UD campus is home to a wide variety of cultures, ethnicities, religious affiliations, etc. People are typically very accepting of differences and there is not really one primary race, etc. Naturally there is a large caucasian population, but a large portion of students are black, asian, etc.

Local Area: College Town – The University of Delaware brings life to Newark, DE. It is the center of community life in the town and includes "Main St." (A very popular street full of fancy restaurant and adorable store fronts.) As a school-centered town, one can usually feel very safe walking around Newark. However, do not stray too far from campus because the outskirts of Newark are drastically different.

Parking: plenty of parking but very expensive. much more cheaper to take the bus

Greek Life: Not Dominate – Greek life isn't the dominate college student life at UD. Even though, they do offer plenty of frats and sorority's to choose from and housing is provided.

Guys & Girls: Both the guys and girls are filled with a diversity of cultures. So you have plenty of beautiful people to pick from.

Guys & Girls: A great ratio of girls to guys at UD. If you want to go home with someone, you can. Greek life has so many females

Majors: Nutritional Science – I'm in nutritional science and all of my teachers are phenomenal and I cannot believe how willing they are to help! I love all of my classes and am doing really well, thanks to my teachers.

Overall Experience: LOVE IT – UD is the best school I have seen. I transferred here and absolutely love the spirit and friendliness. I easily made friends and it is even easier to find your personal niche and where you fit in on campus.

Academics: Profs Can Be Challenging – Alot of teachers have trick questions. No matter how much you study you can still fail. Many classes are quite difficult.

Transportation: Buses or Bikes – The bus system at UD is always convenient in safe especially if the weather is poor. However, if it is a nice day out you will see plenty of students riding bikes around the campus. I have one and it is very nice because I don't have to wait for a bus or leave the dorm as early to get to my classes.

Campus Food: Go to Pencader – I have only eaten at one dining all on campus: Pencader. If you have the option go to Pencader because it has great food, the newest facilities, and there are always plenty of options.

Health & Safety: Definitely Safe – I have never actually felt unsafe on the UD campus. It might be large and spaced out, but everything is in walking distance. If it is dark out try to travel with at least one friend and always remember to lock your door. Campus Security is honestly very nice and friendly, even in regards to drinking. As long as you don't let yourself get too bad you will be fine.

Administration: The University of Delaware is trying to make the school less known as a party school. If you get caught under age drinking, being drunk or acting dumb, you can get written up. If you get written up two times, you are considered for the possibility of being kicked off campus.

Party Scene: The University of Delaware has a very poor reputation as being known as a party school. The school is really trying to crack down on their rules and make it less about partying. During the weeks days, the campus night life is pretty low, but on the weekends sitting in your dorm room is not the way to go. There are always a ton of parties to go to and they are even fun to go to if you are not drinking. UD always has a bus running after ten. It is called the "Hen Ten." Public Safety is also always around if anyone would ever need them!

Technology: The internet service at the University of Delaware is in and out. Some days it is better than others. But the Morris Library also at the University of Delaware has huge screen Apple computers in the basement. Some of the Apple computers are even touch screen. You are able to print papers pretty much any where that there is a computer, but it costs about $.10 a page. I would say that the computer compatible technology at the University of Delaware is pretty up to par.

Weather: Generally the weather is pretty nice however there are periods when it rains for a full week. Rain boots, rain jackets, umbrellas and warm clothes are absolutely necessary!

Administration: Campus strictness is not so bad. However there are a number of policies restricting underage drinking, drug usage, lateness to classes, skipped classes etc.

4 College Junior

Campus Food: What a Variety! There are so many different dining halls that you can go to if you have a meal plan. Having "points" enables you to eat at different and more modern places on campus and main street offers a large variety of different restaurants that one can eat at.

Campus Quality: Printing is annoying, the media center is good however and you can rent tons of useful equipment from the library. The library is old and their database isn't overly user-friendly. The student centers are great and often used. The gyms are nice however the main gym, Big Bob, is far. There are many satellite gyms on campus. The buildings, though some are bulky, they all are either new or have a quaint colonialesque appeal.

Health & Safety: The Campus Is Safe but Can Improve. Health Resources Have Their Pros and Cons – The campus is very safe but there are robberies which occur and there could be more blue light systems installed in really shady (desolated) areas. I can leave my laptop in the lounge though without worrying (the people here are good-hearted).

The health resources are satisfactory and I have not needed to use them. However, I have heard many horror stories with the health services.

The police, despite the increase in robberies on and around campus (and the lack of action taken), have been cracking down on parties like they've never before.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
