Guys & Girls: Gorgeous Campus – There are a ton of good looking people here. Both guys and girls seem to put a lot of effort and attention into their appearance. Girls dress in brand/designer names and carry expensive bags. Many girls go tanning throughout the school year and put a lot of attention into their hair and makeup. There are a lot of cute guys around campus too, however there are less of them than there are pretty girls. Many boys here wear preppy/fratty clothes and care about their general appearance more than you would expect. Overall, it is a very attractive campus, however there is a lack of diversity in appearance.

Campus Food: Good Variety, but Poor Quality – The University of Delaware offers four all-you-can-eat style dining halls where students use "meals". The dining halls are conveniently located in close proximity to the most populated dorms. They offer a wide range of options every day so there is a lot of variety. However, the quality of the food is lacking and leaves much to be desired. The fruits and vegetables are not the freshest, and the meat is of poor, cheap quality. However, there are some entrees and desserts that everyone sees to love. Another convenient option are the two food courts in the student centers, Perkins and Trabant. Both are extremely popular and offer many options such as sushi, mexican food, custom burgers, salads and sandwhiches. There are also a ton of convenient markets around campus where students can buy snacks and staples for their dorm. Dining is very convenient here, however the quality is not as high as it could be.

Majors: So far love my classes and my teachers. It is hard but I am learning a lot.

Party Scene: Hang With Friends – always something to do. Everyone so nice and friendly
On or off campus always fell safe and have fun

Campus Quality: The Campus – The Campus here is beautiful. I love the academic buildings along the green. It makes the walk to class so much more enjoyable. There are some building not on the green that aren't as nice but overall I really love how nice the campus is.

Weather: Weather is pretty standard around here. You get to experience every season

Off-Campus Dining: Variety of Options – Main street is packed with options to satisfy any students needs. Ranging from italian to indian to Japanese, Newark offers a variety of cuisine. Also since the school is located so close to Wilmington, Philly and Baltimore a student can venture to some of these cities to expand their food options even further.

Drug Safety: Alcohol Is the Drug of Choice – In my experience, alcohol seems to be what is abused more.

Local Area: Beautiful Campus in the Heart of Newark – This is a beautiful walking campus. Main st. in newark feels a bit like "Mayberry". There are many shops and restarants that cater to students.

Campus Quality: U of D does a really good job of maintaining facilities. Considering the large student population things are kept clean, attractive and in good working order. If I want to be critical, I guess it would be in the area of athletic centers (gyms)on campus for general student use. Although there are several located on campus they see to be overcrowded at any given time on any given day. The University needs to expand on what is available in this area. All in allthe U of D is a beautiful campus located in Newark. It has an "old time" feel to it, yet is state of the art.

Weather: It rains ALOT at UD. And every where is paved with bricks. so slippery. Bring Rain Booots.

Diversity: The asian Student population at Delaware is pretty big

Technology: I like that at UD you get 5$ to print anywhere on campus (and page cost is .5 Cents) so if I forget to print something out its easy.

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments Are Easily Availale – Apartments are easy to find, and are generally less expensive than the dorms.

Off-Campus Dining: Main Street has great options, many of which are very affordable. In addition, there are many places nearby that will deliver to the area, including the dorms

Technology: There are lots of computers on campus. Not all of them print, and sometimes computer areas get crowded particularly at the end of the semester

Party Scene: It's Here, and It's Good – Newark's Main Street has plenty of great bars if you're over 21. Many of them have a pretty decent club atmosphere, but there are also quieter options nearby. UD's Fraternity/Sorority scene is pretty big, and they usually throw pretty decent parties that are fairly easy to get into - except around rush or homecoming. Even if you're not 21, the University offers plenty of activities on-campus, and parties abound.

Diversity: An Overall Melting Pot – The University of Delaware student body primarily consists of young people from all over the Mid-Atlantic region. Aside from Delawareans, most students are New Jersians, New Yorkers, or Pennsylvanians. The student body is mostly secular and fairly non-religious, but Christian and other religious views are still found all over campus. The student body has representatives of nearly every race, religion, political persuasion, and sexual orientation. On the bro-hipster spectrum, UD students are decidedly bro. The guys most strongly represent the bro archetype. The ladies are mostly attractive, but the binge-drinking habits of many sorority girls tend to catch up with them by senior year. Still, most of the girls here are bot beautiful and intelligent. There are lots of cultural attractions, parks, and fine dining establishments around here, so there's plenty of potential for great dates. Additionally, the girls make up 60% of the student body, so it's much easier for guys to meet up with girls here than at many other colleges.

Campus Housing: Wide Variety of Housing Options – There is a wide variety of housing options available, from single dorms to apartments housing four people.

Local Area: Suburb Near a City – While Newark is primarily a suburban county, Wilmington, Delaware is very close by, offering a greater amount of culture to experience.

Diversity: The University has a moderate level of diversity, however, there could be a wider array of ethnicities represented by the student body.

Academics: It Gets Better as You Go on – I'm a recent transfer to the University of Delaware, and I chose to attend for three reasons: closeness to home; reasonable in state tuition; and a strong physical geography major program. I'm currently taking courses at all levels between 100 and 400. 100-level lecture courses - usually taken by freshmen - tend to be taught in large classes, with up to 200 students in a section. Labs associated with such courses are typically taught by graduate student teaching assistants, who are often not subject-matter experts. Professor involvement differs between courses.
Higher level, mostly major-specific courses are usually taught in much sections, with class sizes ranging between 15 and 40 students. The professors and teaching assistants for these courses are regularly available for additional assistance, and - as a rule - are subject-matter experts.
The large lecture classes available to students during freshman year may be intimidating to students coming in from smaller high school class sizes; however, the helpful intimate environment available in higher-level courses is well worth the challenging initial environment.

Diversity: No Great, but Getting Better – The overall student population is white. However, there are definitely people who add to the diversity of the school. This school has a fairly large gay population which is well-recepted on campus. Also there are a good amount of asian students on campus. From an economic standpoint students range from upper-class to lower class. Diversity here is not great, but is growing every year.

Overall Experience: Can't Really Complain – UD isn't too bad, I can't complain about too much. I've lived close to the campus for 4 years prior to going to UD so it's not too new to me. It's kind of boring because of that reason, but it's still a good school.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
