4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The dorms are not perfect, but they are a good enough place to live. Delaware is building two brand new dorm buildings that will open next year, which will only increase the living standard.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Sports at Delaware are competitive, but it is not very popular for students to attend the games to cheer the athletes on.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Major sports such as football are fun to go to and are well attended, but the other sports are merely ok to spectate. There are a few gyms across campus, some near freshman dorms, and the quality of them is good.

1 College Junior

Administration: Campus and local police are very strict during homecoming tailgates. Do not go to a tailgate and drink if you are under 21. Otherwise don't be dumb and be aware of cops trying to stop parties

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: School has a good girl:guy ratio of about 60:40. Guys and girls are typical of what you would find in a (semi) large school.

4 College Senior

Party Scene: Good bars and college town environment for those over 21.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: This school has a lot of white people, all coming from similar income levels. There is plenty of religious and sexual diversity, although there are a lot more girls than guys.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of options for off-campus housing. The only problem is that some off-campus houses may seem unsafe, and you have to sign a lease fairly early into the year if you want a good location, safe house etc.

1 College Freshman

Party Scene: only social scene is frat parties, lots of alcohol and people get wreckless, lots of alcohol poisoning and people going to the hospital. Little else to do other then party

2 College Freshman

Athletics: there is a lot of school spirit, however the sports scene specifically for football is lacking--everyone goes to games however usually after drinking and rarely if ever stay for the entire game, or pay attention to what's going on

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: living off campus is known to be less expensive, however finding housing off campus is easier said then done because leases need to be agreed and signed on as early as november for the following year

4 College Freshman

Academics: my professors have been available and willing to help for the most part, just so long as it is clear that i am putting in the time outside of class as well. psychology is a very big program. registering for classes is almost unbearable but you manage.

5 College Freshman

Academics: Organizational and Community leadership major is a GREAT program, i love everything about it and the adviser of the program is very helpful. Definitely able to make the most of the resources available

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: average food, options if you are willing to walk to get there, can find something to eat in closest dining hall 85% of the time

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Diversity is pretty moderate on campus, there are many people of different races, religions, political beliefs, and sexual orientation. Everyone seems very easy-going and open-minded, so there's only that rare few who do not tolerate diversity as well.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: Delaware has a pretty temperate climate. Fall and spring here are really nice, with comfortable temperatures. It's a bit cold in the winter, but It doesn't snow or rain much here so it typically isn't an issue with getting to classes. When the weather is nice, there are plenty of places around campus to hang out outside.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The University of Delaware is located in a little college town, so there are many houses around that students rent out for the school year. Many of them are old, so that's a downfall, but there are many options. There are some nice apartments located by the the university, but they are rather expensive.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: The drug scene here at Delaware is not very big. Drinking is a popular activity, but that is pretty much it. If you are uncomfortable in a drug/alcohol situation, you have every right and will not be look down upon if you rid yourself of the situation.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Sports at the University of Delaware are pretty big. Everyone loves going to the football games at the beginning of the year. There are many credible workout facilities that will get you into shape in no time. Going to the sporting events are a lot of fun, especially with friends. Club sports are very intense at the University of Delaware, which is a good thing. Intramural sports are a fun and exciting way to stay active and have some fun.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: There are many different options to choose from. All of the dining halls have good hours and good food. The flex dollars and points are very convenient when you want a break from dining hall food. After freshman year, I suggest getting a smaller meal plan so you save money.

3 College Freshman

Local Area: I'm a delawarian so i suppose i know Delaware and the Delaware atmosphere is great it's like your in a little town compared to being outside or the campus limits

3 College Freshman

Weather: Unpredictable but usually turns out to be nice weather

4 College Freshman

Academics: Teachers are great most of my teachers were new teachers and i have no complaints about any of them. So i would say Delaware knows how to staff their school

5 College Freshman

Parking: There are a bunch of parking and you can upgrade your parking pass to get better parking or you can go to one of the pay as your park lots which usually have a bunch of spots open

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many restaurants right on Main Street that runs through campus and more near by. Price range, "fanciness" and kind of food is definitely unlimited, it's awesome.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
