Majors: The Mass Communications track is easy to complete in your four year here at UD. Even with the added PR Concentration, I have still had time add Psychology as a second major. Classes are relatively easy and are relevant to daily life; professors are engaging and genuinely interesting in teaching.

Majors: All work, no pay. As an intern, you work your butt off doing grunt work. Be proactive, anticipate responsibilities, and be grateful for the experience. The connections you can make during internships are invaluable and can really help out when it comes to getting a job after college.

Academics: I was in human services and found that the teachers and staff were very helpful. Everyone was easy to approach and I felt like I established wonderful relationships with those teachers.

Weather: You always have to carry around an umbrella because you never know when it will rain. Other than that the weather is pretty neutral.

Off-Campus Dining: There are countless places on Main St, or within walking distance to choose from. Whether you have no care for price or can only spend 10 dollars, there is a variety of types of food and restaurants to choose from.

Athletics: Despite having very good Division I sports teams, the school doesn't have the best school spirit. However the club sports here are just as competitive as the Varsity sports, and everyone participates in Intramural sports teams. If you want to play a sport here, there are endless possibilities!

Majors: I believe good jobs are out there for Communications.

Party Scene: Nightlife at University of Delaware is a lot of fun. There are plenty of options for 21+. On Main Street there are a lot of bars to go to. If you are under 21, there are always house parties which are tons of fun.

Athletics: University of Delaware has fun tailgates during football season. This is the only sport that has a bigger fan base.

Health & Safety: On campus, I feel safe walking back and forth to class. You will normally see at least one police car on your walk to campus. The only problem is during the night. It is not safe to walk alone on UD campus at night.

Majors: I haven't had an internship through UD yet, but I've applied for two already for this upcoming summer. I can only speak for the ag department, but on that dept's site, internships, jobs, and scholarships are posted daily, and emails are constantly sent out advertising new opportunities for students. It seems like UD is very focused on getting students into the workforce. I am very pleased with this aspect of the school.

Majors: I am a pre-vet major at UD and my experience at the school has been amazing so far. My professors are outstanding (currently I'm taking Functional Anatomy of Domestic Animals, General Chem 104, Calculus, and Food for Thought). All of them are excellent at communicating the material to the class, and they are all very willing to meet students during office hours and answering quick questions before/after class. I am a transfer student, so I know that compared to my previous small, self-proclaimed "hands-on" school, the pre-vet program at UD is far more professional and I know that I have already learned a lot more.

Health & Safety: campus crime is almost non existing. the newark police force is always there for us on and off campus. emergency buttons to the police are all over campus. also plenty of campus security. I feel completely safe at all times.

Local Area: local atitude is great. everyone looking out for you. not much on local attractions, but area is close to wash,md,pa and 4 hours to ny.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: Very strict on drinking in the dorms and parking in the wrong place. Also, a lot of noise in the dorm is not tolerated.

4 College Sophomore

Technology: network reliability is excellent. WIFI throughout . I have my own laptop and desk top computer. Copying is no problem.

2 College Senior

Parking: Parking for residents isn't too bad. The lots are within a reasonable distance from Dorms and classes. However it does cost an arm and a leg.

5 College Senior

Majors: I would do this again, and am looking forward to it.

Drug Safety: A lot of the people at UD take part in drugs, but also a lot of people don't. It all depends on who you hang out with and what type of person you are. I know people who take part in drugs, but they don't pressure me any kind of way.

Local Area: Delaware has a great campus, and maine street is wonderful! Everything is a 10-15 minute walk away, so everything is so convenient! All my friends are so sweet and I love how involved I am. There is a club for everyone!

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Nutirtion is a very intriguing but more difficult major. I love it because I love the topic but if you don't enjoy learning about food there is no way you will make it through all the science classes. Besides the science courses that are required the work load is very fair. I have been accepted to two internships so far and I am only a sophomore. Udel has a great reputation and the name alone can help you on your resume.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: I'm pretty happy with my my major. I love all my major classes but some classes that I have to take like ECON and Management classes don't really make sense to me since I am a Nutrition major.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: The process to obtaining a nutrition major was relatively easy. All I had to do was bring my class course objectives and prove to the advisor that this major was for me. If you are being honest with them and you really love what you want to do you should have no difficulty receiving the major you want.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: I've only been a couple of times but i know that there is a Quiznos there and chick fil a also an Asian restaurant.

4 College Junior

Local Area: There is great shopping and stores. Food places are great.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
