Guys & Girls: Most People Are Fairly Attractive – A lot of guys are frat boys. But, most guys are pretty hot.
Girls are average to hot.

Weather: It rains fairly frequently, but it's totally manageable. Doesn't snow that much (mostly because you're not here for so long during winter session). When it is hot, it isn't too unbearable, even with no air-conditioning.

Diversity: Similar Skin Color, but Many Different Backgrounds – While the skin color doesn't vary much, there are many people from many different socioeconomic backgrounds and from all over the country and all over the world. I have lots of friends from all over!

Guys & Girls: Wide Range – One reason I love UD is the wide range of people. Most people care about their appearance (and are attractive) and most people look nice for class; the gym is always packed with people working out so I would say we are an athletic campus. Everyone dresses the range of preppy, to sweats, to random.

Health & Safety: Convenient but the Actual Doctoring Needs Work – I was sick very frequently freshman year and continually at student health but they never managed to heal me. They are extremely convenient because it is located right next to most residence halls and they are open 24/7 with someone always on staff and overnight beds. They can do blood tests and x-rays there and there is also a gynecology clinic there.

Off-Campus Housing: Lots of Options! There are so many options available from houses to apartments and a wide range of prices. Most are as close to classes as the residence halls. If you want the best deals start looking early!

Greek Life: Honestly, it's not to big but not to small. Sometimes its good and sometimes its bad. From the outside looking in, I feel as if your paying for friends, many of which aren't your good buddies. There are many people who don't do it, so its not the status quo to join.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Campus is clean. Some people smoke weed, but then again who hasn't tried? And I don't categorize weed as dangerous. Drinking is by far more popular.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Ud Athletics are definitely on the rise and really this year are prevalent again. Men's Soccer, Volleyball, and Women's Basketball all won Conference Titles and made it to the NCAA Tournament. Men's Lacrosse is usually nationally recognized but having an off year. With that said, Football sucks and are always overrated. Students typically will just tailgate and leave.

Transportation: The university of Delaware has free shuttle buses running at all times that travel everywhere you would need to go on campus as well as many of the off campus housing developments. There are also many different parking permits you can choose from if you live off campus and all of these lots have shuttle buses that will take you to campus but many are within walking distance. The DART bus also runs through campus and there is also a train station for easy transportaion for those who travel by trin to get back home.

Health & Safety: Great Campus Safety and Help – The university of Delaware takes many measures to insure student health and safety. For starters all throughout the campus there are blue lights that can be pressed if you are every in trouble and at least one other light is always visible when standing by a light. Also, dorms need card keys to get in to. the university also has their own police force as well as always having the city of Newark police patrolling around. Very rarely does crime occur on campus most often it happens outside of campus somehwere else in the city of Newark. Akso if ever you are sick or just have health concerns we haev a student health service center that will be able to answer all of your questions and help you however you need.

Weather: For the most part the weather is nice at the university. Your going to need a nice winter coat for the end of fall semesters and beginning of the spring semsester. However when it warms up it is extremely nice at the university and the grounds crew take excellent care of the lawns and such. the rain doesnt usually have too much of an effect on you because you can easily walk to your classes without getting soaled plus their are UD transit buses that shuttle you around which are very helpful.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The university has some great choices for on campus living with for the most part very updated and secure dorm rooms. There are also many different appartments adn affordable housing surrounding the campus should you choose to leave the dorms after your first year. On campus dining has many great choices as well as meal plans so you dont have to worry about having cash on you to pay for food.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: The University of Delaware has received negative comments in the past about its lack of diversity, but I don't necessarily agree. Although our campus is lacking in certain minority areas (such as with African Americans), we DO have a population of almost 20% Asian students -- in fact, my roommate is Chinese, and I've learned so much culturally from her. In addition, even though white students are the majority, I've never witnessed any blatant displays of racism on campus. Also, one of my best friends is gay, and I know many gay students from participating in theater here, and at least within my student theater group, everyone is incredibly accepting. So, in short, the University of Delaware COULD be more diverse (with African American and Hispanic students especially), but the people here are (as a whole) definitely tolerant of other cultures, views, and sexual orientations.

Campus Quality: the campus is really nice – The aesthetics of this campus are really beautiful. Also, the school is continuously building new buildings such s a new gym, science building and residence hall

Greek Life: Getting bigger every year – As of right now Greek Life is moderately big. However, it is becoming bigger in the school and most people love the sorority/fraternity they are a part of

1 College Senior

Administration: Ridiculously Strict – Don't go here if you don't want to graduate with a permanent record. Kids get arrested by the police for playing music "too loud" even in their dorm rooms. These students then have to pay the town to go on probation for the noise violation and then have to additionally pay the school for breaking the student conduct code.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Big but Not Overwhelming – As a freshman it seems like a lot of stuff revolves around Greek life simply because that's when most people rush and start getting involved. Furthermore, freshman tend to go to a lot of frat parties on weekends for lack of other options. After freshman year, Greek life is still a good part of campus but you don't have to be involved in order to have friends or have fun.

2 College Freshman

Diversity: UD has been actively trying to increase the level of diversity, but as far as I can see the campus is made up of primarily white students. There do seem to be a relatively good amount of Asian students here, but besides that UD is a very white school.

Athletics: Tail-Gates Then Ya Get Ya Tail Out – Everyone who's anyone pregames and/or tailgates, but hardly anyone goes to games, aside from opening day and homecoming.

1 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Recent Crimes – Several alerts were issued about an alleged attempted rape/strangulation case with the suspect still at large for several weeks...'nuff said

3 College Junior

Scholarships: Beg for Money – The problem with financial aid is that the University meets all the financial needs of in-state students leaving very little for the out-of-state students. Merit scholarships are very important and where the money is, so if you have good grades from high school you can get some money. Don't plan on a full ride though.

5 College Junior

Transportation: Go Everywhere on Foot – Everything on campus is accessible by foot and Main Street runs directly through campus. During peak class hours buses run from the dorm areas to main class areas every 15 or so minutes. Very convenient.

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: it's not necessary but it's definitely there. there are definitely plenty of other things to do if you're not in greek life but sometimes the greek life scene becomes overbearing

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Awesome Dining Options for All – the choices are many and the local restaurants have great quality food. very student friendly and you can find anything at any time...breakfast, lunch, dinner, and especially late night.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
