Guys & Girls: There's Plenty of Diversity – The diversity at UD is one of it's best qualities. There isn't really a stereotypical UD student. There are a ton of frat guys who are extremely preppy, and you can pick them out pretty easily. There are also a lot of jocks because of the university's d1 ranking. The girls are all pretty much all over the board. For the most part, everyone on campus looks "normal" and well kept.

Local Area: Newark Is Awesome – The title explains everything! Main street has basically everything you need in terms of dorm items, and the bookstore. For leisurely shopping, the Christiana mall is only about 10 minutes away. There are plenty o restaurants nearby, and most stay open really late on weekends. Main street isn't technically on campus, but it's an extremely short walk, and the street is always full of UD students.

Transportation: Sometimes Doesn't Run – Sometimes I have to wait a long time for a bus. especially when I had to park at the athletic field

Off-Campus Housing: I live on North Campus but would like to find off campus housing but it is so expensive unless you live with 10 people

Party Scene: No Fun for Under 21 – In Delaware nightlife is nonexistent for those under 21, most places will kick you out after 9 or 10 if you are not the legal drinking age and there are not many other options for those under 21. Parties are usually a bad choice in the town of Newark because usually underage drinking is involved and the police are called. The best bet for good nightlife for those under 21 is joining a sorority or fraternity or at least associating with that crowd, since they throw the better parties.

Majors: In my field of study research internships are the most common, I do plan on having one because it is required and also provides wonderful experience for Grad school. I am slightly concerned about finding an internship because my field and school are both very competitive.

Off-Campus Dining: Average Dining – Dining hall food is pretty average, good on some days and not so good on other days. They do have some good fast food places on campus including chick-fil-a.

Greek Life: Greeks Volunteer – The different greek organizations actually participate in a lot of community service and volunteer activities. They arent as dominante here as other schools.

Off-Campus Dining: Main Street Rocks – Main street has the best restaurants and take out.

4 College Senior

Party Scene: Bars Are Bad – House parties are fun but they can get crowded. Bars are good but close too early.

Scholarships: Could Be So Much Better – I have a $12,000 scholarship, which is great. But that barely makes a dent in tuition. :(

Greek Life: I Guess It's Alright – I'm not in Greek life so I'm not really in a position to grade it.

Local Area: A College Town – The surrounding area is definitely tailored toward students (and their tight budgets). The best is Main Street, which is packed with restaurants and stores, great places to study and the huge Barnes and Noble school bookstore.

Campus Food: Not the Best, but Better Than Average – It really isn't as bad as one would imagine. UDel works to have a lot of options whether in the dining hall or other places on campus. And I love the themed meals that they often have- it makes it more fun to go to the dining hall. As for food quality, like I said, it's not bad. There are some items that are tasteless, or that you wish were tasteless, but those types of foods are few in number. It's not your mother's home cooking, but it'll do.

Off-Campus Housing: Reasonable Prices, Decent Options. Most apartments will range from $400-$600 a month. Apartments on main street are the most desirable and therefore are harder to obtain, but there are plenty of other options.

Administration: Huge Police Presence – Punishments are not too severe but it is an inconvenience.

4 College Junior

Weather: Average Mid-Atlantic – It has four seasons and winter is usually windy which adds to the cold. Do not walk on the red brick paths/ through Trabant in the rain or you will slip!

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Main Street Is Great – There are so many excellent restaurants to choose from that are mostly moderately priced and give value for that price.

5 College Junior

Campus Quality: Clean and State of the Art – Everything is constantly being renovated and updated, and the major buildings are generally clean. The student centers are very popular at all times of day and there is plenty to do.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: Not Bad – People who are involved love it, but it isn't necessary to join to have fun or attend parties.

Athletics: Things to Do – football games are a lot of fun. This is a place to have some fun and gives students things to do.

Local Area: So Much to Do So Little Time – This is the greatest place for anyone my age. We have 17,000 students ranging from18 - 45. There are many things for people my age to enjoy. There are so many people to meet. It is easy to get around town. I would say it is perfect.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Buses Around Town – I have found the public transportation to be adequate to meet my needs.

Administration: Financing College – The University of Delaware is the best College in the US. While it does have many rules, I really feel like they are necessary. It provides structure and helps us to continue to make good decisions. I believe that the punishments are fit for any infractions taken. The University of Delaware provides a nice safe environment codusive to learning. Everyone has a stake in getting you to graduation.

Technology: Variety Is Always Nice – In the library there are two types of computers that students can use. There are traditional PC computers that are great for looking things up and typing papers. Then we also have the computers in the media center computers. These are Macs with large screens and can be used for high tech design programs and gaming.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
