Academics: look up rate my professor .com . great science program

Scholarships: I was awarded some financial aid, but it can be quite a hassle to get all the necessary forms and paperwork together. There is relatively no advisor system in place to counsel you on taking loans or financial aid.

Guys & Girls: The UD campus is filled with attractive undergrads. The girls like to dress up for classes -- very few people are seen walking to class in sweatpants or ratty sneakers. The guys are generally more casual, but still appear put-together. Everyone dresses the same, though -- there's not a lot of diversity on campus when it comes to style or appearance.

Campus Housing: As an honors student, I lived in some of the nicest dorms as a freshman. However, sophomore year, I lived in upperclassman housing and it was much worse. Not only were the buildings older, the rooms were much smaller and lacked many amenities. While my freshman hall was friendly and had an open-door environment, no one socialized in the upperclassmen dorms! Lots of people lived in singles and weren't friendly. It was very isolating for me and my roommate. We moved off campus after that experience!

Majors: Very very happy with my program. Applied to be in it and got accepted before my freshman year. I have always wanted to do something with fashion in my life, since it is my main passion. So coming to college and being able to surround myself with other people who feel the same way is great. I hope that I can somehow gain experience in the industry, seeing as I have never really worked in it. But if I search and apply for good internships then that should help!

Majors: I love my program. It allows me to go to classes where I actually am interested in what is being taught. Along with this, many of my classes are hands on where we create designs, and work with groups to complete projects. Overall, the majority of the classes we are required to take will really help within the fashion indsutry. Also, since Delaware has such a good fashion program it will help with future jobs.

Majors: As a fashion major, it is often difficult to find a paid internship. Many people have connections with big designers or companies. I have only experienced an online internship where I marketed for a website. I learned how to share ideas with other interns and complete tasks. In the future I hope to gain a more hands on rewarding internship.

Weather: There are lots of sunny days. The summers are a little humid at times and the winters are rainy but it is still negotiable.

Majors: Lots of different majors. Some majors are really great such as nursing and education and the engineering and business colleges are great too.

Administration: Police are getting stricter and stricter. Parties always get shut down if they're too crazy.

Athletics: The school spirit at the school is incredible because all of the students come out to support the varsity sports. The athletic facilities are great for the athletes so that they can perform as well as possible.

Drug Safety: The drug enforcement at the University of Delaware is pretty good because they do a good job of cracking down on students who use drugs. The policy enforcement is pretty strict in order to help students safety.

Transportation: Buses running all the time, you're guaranteed to get on a bus if you wait for 10 minutes or less. Some stops, such as Smith and Christiana Commons, get crowded during key times during the day but there is always another bus a minute or two away.

Campus Food: It's college food. With the dining hall I frequent, the quality can be a hit or miss. There are some foods that they do really well, like omletes, and this weird mashed potato with chicken and gravy and corn bowl, some of the soups are really good, the burgers and fries are good. At times, there is so much selection that I end up getting too much and I won't eat everything on my plate because I grabbed too many things that looked good, but other times there's very little selection.

Weather: The weather is starting to be really nice around campus. The first two weeks of school were excessively hot, but it's very nice now. It rains randomly, but not too much.

Administration: The police have started cracking down on parties more according to my senior friends. However if a party gets busted the only thing the police will do is talk with the owner of the house. All the partiers will be let go unless they have open containers in their hands or something. A friend of mine recently got written up for alcohol and he said the RA was very nice about it since he was cooperative and all he will likely have to do is go to a meeting about it.

Transportation: The campus bus is free and makes regular stops around campus at scheduled times. Lots of students find it easier to ride a bike instead though. There will be a new bus system on campus soon that will take students to New York and Philly for some ridiculously low prices, like $1.

Technology: Delaware has plenty of computers in the library, but it's a good idea to have you own and a printer. Printing costs something like 10 cents a page. In terms of network reliability and speed, Delaware leaves something to be desired. The network was actually not available for most of this weekend, but it works most of the time.

Athletics: Sports at Univ. of Del. are revered just like any other major college in the US. The students support the teams and players 100% for every game. The facilities for each sport are top of the line and accessible even for non-sport players. A majority of the teams have all had several championships, like football, baseball, volleyball, and hockey, to name a few. The teams are definitely worth watching during their season.

Off-Campus Housing: Town Is a Problem – Although there are many options to choose from, the Town of Newark and many of its landlords like to think of students as pests who can always pay higher fees and tickets.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
