Parking: Need a Car to Get to Your Car – Parking is what you pay for. More money, better spots. Some lots are pretty far. Overall though, not too shabby. You don't need a car as a freshman but sometimes it's helpful.

Parking: Parking on campus is a nightmare. The price to buy a parking spot is almost 500 dollars. The parking wasn't very close to the dorm and I always had to leave earlier to get somewhere on time. The need for a car isn't needed. I work off campus at the mall so I need my car but other than that, there are tons of things around to use. There is also public transporation that is helpful and probably cheaper.

Academics: Most Professors Are Helpful – I love my major at the University of Delaware. Many of the professors are very passionate about their field and are always open to help. They love explaining the curriculum and go in depth if you have questions. The major is also amazing because you get tons of hands on experience.

Academics: HDFS Department Helpful – I love the department my major is in. They are so helpful when you have any questions. They're always open to help schedule classes and make sure you graduate on time. Dr. Warden was an amazing help when I transfered last year and helped fit my credits from my old college.

Campus Food: Okay but Not Many Choices – There are multiple places to eat around campus but within each dining hall there is usually only one good meal to eat. The food gets old sometimes. The nice part is always having a salad bar. Two of the dining halls have express which you can take your food back to your room but it's limited choice of food.

Academics: Very Good Professors – UD has awesome faculty and each one is there to help students achieve. Course work isn't easy, but it is rewarding!

Drug Safety: Drinking Is Popular – Drinking is prevelant at UD, and many students are now on a craze about Adderol and Riddilin, ADD and ADHD drug abuse.

Overall Experience: I Love It! I love my experience at University of Delaware. Most classes aren't easy but they are super engaging and make me work hard for my grades! I love that the school is large, but has elements like clubs and greek life to help make it feel small and cozy!

Weather: When its a rainy day or cold outside, many students stay inside and class sizes stay small. On beautiful days, everyone within a mile raduis of campus is out and about!

Majors: Love It! i like my major, health behavior science, because its unique and different and just what i am looking for! the workload is not bad, challenging enough but not overbearing. I've heard UD is great with job opportunities and internships!

Weather: Bipolar but Nice – The weather is weather, but sometimes I feel like Delaware Weather is so bipolar and confusing!

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Health Behavior Science – I recently declared my major and i'm really excited about it because it's one of the few if not only school that offers this specific major. It is just what I am interested in, and I'm so glad I have to opportunity to be in this program.

Local Area: Close to Everything! I absolutely love the local atmosphere at UD. It is definitely a college town with a lot of hustle and bustle both during the week and on the weekends. Newark's main street is right in the middle of campus almost so there are a ton of stores and restaurants and UD's bookstore is located there. It is also very safe as Campus safety is very easily accessible.

Drug Safety: Lots of Drinking – UD is known as a party school. So there's a lot of drinking going on. However, their drug safety policies and enforcement are absolutely fantastic. I almost never smelled drugs on campus and I was never pressured to drink or do drugs.

Technology: Pretty Good for Such a Large University – I have not used the computers or printing that much but when I really needed them it was very easy to get onto a computer and use the printer. The WiFi at UD was pretty good for such a large university. Sure, I had some problems but for such a large university it was pretty fast and easy to connect.

Campus Housing: Amazing in Every Way – I have only stayed in the freshman dorms but boy is it an experience. The dorms are very nice and not too far from everything. And everyone is super friendly and willing to meet new people

Academics: Tough but Worth It – WARNING: If you're not good at taking tests, do not come here. The classes are all lectures and tests, with a project thrown in occasionally. So, if you bomb the first two tests, you pretty much bomb the class. The first semester is definitely rough, but you get used to it eventually. I actually feel like I've learned a lot so far at UD.

Parking: I have never had a car on campus, but I know that typically the lots are far away and spaces cost a small fortune. For visitors, there are two main parking garages. They're pretty convenient, but average about $1 per hour which gets expensive if they're staying for the weekend. There are ways to get around the parking though, like making frats at a frat or sorority house and parking there temporarily.

Guys & Girls: There's Plenty of Diversity – The diversity at UD is one of it's best qualities. There isn't really a stereotypical UD student. There are a ton of frat guys who are extremely preppy, and you can pick them out pretty easily. There are also a lot of jocks because of the university's d1 ranking. The girls are all pretty much all over the board. For the most part, everyone on campus looks "normal" and well kept.

Local Area: Newark Is Awesome – The title explains everything! Main street has basically everything you need in terms of dorm items, and the bookstore. For leisurely shopping, the Christiana mall is only about 10 minutes away. There are plenty o restaurants nearby, and most stay open really late on weekends. Main street isn't technically on campus, but it's an extremely short walk, and the street is always full of UD students.

Transportation: Sometimes Doesn't Run – Sometimes I have to wait a long time for a bus. especially when I had to park at the athletic field

Off-Campus Housing: I live on North Campus but would like to find off campus housing but it is so expensive unless you live with 10 people

Party Scene: No Fun for Under 21 – In Delaware nightlife is nonexistent for those under 21, most places will kick you out after 9 or 10 if you are not the legal drinking age and there are not many other options for those under 21. Parties are usually a bad choice in the town of Newark because usually underage drinking is involved and the police are called. The best bet for good nightlife for those under 21 is joining a sorority or fraternity or at least associating with that crowd, since they throw the better parties.

College Senior

Majors: In my field of study research internships are the most common, I do plan on having one because it is required and also provides wonderful experience for Grad school. I am slightly concerned about finding an internship because my field and school are both very competitive.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Average Dining – Dining hall food is pretty average, good on some days and not so good on other days. They do have some good fast food places on campus including chick-fil-a.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
