Academics: The academics here at UD are very challenging. In the very beginning I felt overwhelmed by the amount of work but however you quickly get the swing of things and its very easy to manage your grades and having fun. Registration was a little stressful but I ended up getting all the classes I wanted during the times I wanted. Overall I am very pleased

Academics: There are so many opportunities for Political Science majors at UD. I constantly get emails about different programs or internships. The classes are challenging but I've honestly learned so much in the past few months that it is totally worth it!

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Dinning halls are not great. However, dining on Main Street it always awesome!

Weather: The weather is moderate. It doesn't get too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter. There are a lot of days where its nice and sunny. When hurricanes come though it gets bad because we are close to the shore.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Being out of state, I did receive almost 10,000 dollars in financial aid. They do offer to people in need and have great scholarships

Campus Quality: There are many places to go to at UD. Trabant and Perkins have really food fast food. The green is a great place to hang out with your friends. There is always different activities to do all around campus

Campus Housing: It really depends on where you live. If you live on North campus, you are blessed with A/C and beautiful dorms. On the other hand, if you stay on West Campus, you are screwed with Dickinson and Rodney, the old dorms, that are a bit far from campus and sort of dark. South Green and East campus is really nice though. It is close to all the academic buildings and have decent dining halls.

Weather: I think it is necessary to bring an umbrella or rain boots with you. It sadly does not snow but the weather is reasonable.

3 College Freshman

Campus Quality: If you live on West Campus, prepare yourself for a dungeon. It's pretty horrible. Dickinson does not have air-conditioning, which is miserable in the warmer months. Rodney is a little better, but not much. However, Laird Campus was recently renovated, so everything up there is nice and new.

Academics: The programs offered at UD are great, but some of the teachers shouldn't be allowed in the classroom. Make sure you look online to review your teachers before you sign up for their classes. It'll save you lots of time and spare you grade trouble in the long run.

Guys & Girls: The guys here are pretty decent if you know where to look - don't be afraid to reach out and say hi! Girls are typical, some prettier than others.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: It's a college dining hall not a 5 star restaurant, but it's tolerable and there are always plant of options and there are also other places on campus to eat that are really good.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: There's always an option, but the people here are here for an education and that is not forgotten.

Scholarships: I'm a grad student living on a stipend and free tuition.

Local Area: There's not too much in terms of culture in Newark. Sure, there's main street, and lots of places to eat, but the shopping is limited, there's no museums. There aren't many places to see movies, or good venues for music. Everything that goes on, other than partying, is sponsered by the University of Delaware. The good thing is that New York isn't too far away.

Guys & Girls: Guys are all pretty attractive at University of Delaware, but if you aren't really into partying, live in a girls only dorm, or aren't very outgoing it can be hard to meet them.

Off-Campus Dining: I enjoy a variety of local restaurants. Indian Sizzler has a great lunch special that is delicious. Home Grown Cafe has some good vegetarian options and good beer options as well. For all-american type food I'd recommend Timothy's.

Academics: I love my major. I am a Secondary Math Education major and I cannot wait to start getting involved in the nearby schools and begin my field experience.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Most guys and girls love to party at UD; however, there is also a good balance between people who just party and people who are good at balancing their school work too.

1 College Freshman

Scholarships: I applied but did not recieve financial aid. However, luckily I was given a merit-based scholarship. Colleges should give more financial aid so more kids can dream of going to college.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Most of the professors I have had so far are great!

3 College Junior

Transportation: There are many buses that bring students to and from campus, but they are typically overcrowded and rarely on time. I try to avoid the buses and prefer to walk... Delaware is such a small campus that nearly everything is within walking distance.

5 College Senior

Majors: As an education major, I went through the student teaching process, which acts as an internship. I worked more than 50 hours a week, unpaid. My duties included creating lesson plans and implementing them. I felt ready for this internship, and after I feel prepared to be a teacher.

4 College Senior

Majors: Elementary education is a rigorous program at UD. To be accepted, is an honor and to transfer in is very difficult. This program is very structured and your four years are planned out for you.I would suggest applying to be an elementary education major when you apply to UD. If not, apply to be in the major freshman year since the classes are planned out for you.

3 College Senior

Campus Food: There are 4 dining halls located around campus. They all have a pretty good variety of food. There are also different places around campus to get food. There is a good variety of food in the dining halls, but they could get old fast. UD has good food located around campus for where ever you are.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
