4 College Freshman

Technology: I haven't really had any classes that would require many computer labs, but the one time that I worked in one it was very helpful and the technology was easy to use.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: The drug scene isn't too big at UD. Depending on who you hang out with, the most people do is smoke. Alcohol and parties are bigger at UD, however, whether you do or not is up to you. College is what you make it and you don't have to go to parties or anything to have fun.

1 College Sophomore

Parking: Most of the parking is metered parking, or, in other words, you need to have a lot of quarters on hand in order to pay to park.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Pretty good. Shuttles to everywhere but longest walk is 30 minutes. To go to the mall you just have to take the DART bus which isnt too hard to figure out.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: It's not awful, not amazing. It's usually a hit or miss. Most dining halls serve UDairy for desert. Kent is the best because you can go there at any time of day. Trabant and Perkins are awesome when you have points.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: It's harder to get into parties if you are a guy, but if you are a girl you will never have to worry about getting in or paying. Most places aren't that far of a walk and there's usually a lot going on. Believe me this is a big party school, and on the weekends you can feel ostracized if you don't go out because there is not much else to do. Parties are fun though. Over 21 main street is good. Really come down hard on fake ids there.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I received a decent amount of financial aid. They offer a lot more help to in state students because it is a state school.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: There is definitely the presence of alcohol on campus and at social events off-campus, but students do not have to take part in it to have a good social life. When it comes to weed, that is less abundant and most people do that off campus.

3 College Freshman

Weather: The weather is great! The only complaint I could make would be the abundance of rain, though I enjoy it. In the fall, the weather is rather warm and most students are seen in shorts, dresses, or tank tops. (for girls obviously)

2 College Freshman

Parking: For freshman, parking is really not an option. I understand that upperclassmen have more choices on where they can park, though spots are filled up rather quickly. There are meters that cost 25 cents for every 10 minutes you park there.

1 College Junior

Campus Food: I got sick from the dining hall 3 times last year alone. They undercook meat a lot. The offerings are nothing to write home about. They have a lot of ethnic food that nobody likes. Also, the people working there are pretty snippy. That having been said, the Scrounge in Perkins isn't bad. They also put a Starbucks in Smith recently.

2 College Junior

Health & Safety: The Newark Police seem to like to harass students at Delaware by giving out a lot jaywalking tickets and busting parties. Meanwhile, Newark is not a very safe place, so maybe they should focus on actual crime. The UD Police are very professional and competent.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: You will likely not enjoy the social scene at Delaware if you don't drink. Some people smoke pot or use harder drugs, but there is no pressure to partake and people respect your decision not to.

3 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Little room for sitting and waiting for next class when in the same building

4 College Freshman

Weather: The weather isn't that bad if you look at the forecasts for the week and plan accordingly. However, since the campus is big, if you get caught in the rain or snow, you better have an umbrella in your backpack.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: You have your choice to any kind of housing. Five choices for Freshman all over campus and most have air conditioning. If you want a more quiet environment, there is housing on south campus with a substance free dorm, international dorm or an all women's Overall, housing is great.

Guys & Girls: There is a range of boys on campus at Delaware but it is clear that Delaware does not produce boyfriend material. The girls will all look the same, leggings, uggs, tall boots, scarfs. Same things, different girl.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: Varsity sports at Delaware are not well supported by students and I wish that there was more fan support from the students.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: The guys are all pretty laid back and all keep decent appearances. The girls are all nice and make campus life entertaining and balanced. Social lives are all well-balanced and not brought to the entire college level such as relationships.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: If you dont want to be involved in drinking then you will never see it. You do see some kids doing some smoking and they dont really get caught. If you want to drink and party, you can easily find it, but its also incredible easy to avoid and people really do not peer pressure you at UD nor do they make you feel uncomfertable that you dont drink

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Lots and lots of options! Prices are very reasonable and very delcious foods! Love going to main street for dinner some nights!

5 College Freshman

Transportation: There are constantly buses running all around the campus. Even on the weekends to the football games. They are all free. And then you have DART buses and those are really cheap. You can go to the mall for $1.25

5 College Freshman

Technology: You get plenty of money for printing at the beginning. The computers in the library are very nice, although maybe slightly slow. The internet is amazing at delaware and i never have a problem with it. It is very easy to have internet access when on campus. I use it on my phone and computer all the time.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are plenty of places to eat around campus such as pubs, food chains, and individual restaurants that are widely diverse in choices. Prices are fair at most places

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Financial Aid went smoothly...just make sure you really call over and over again. Do not be shy. If you are a strong student and express your need they will give you some money they originally didnt.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
