Guys & Girls: Everyone here is really into partying and the guys here really don't seem to be interested in relationships as much as the physical aspects. Some guys aren't bad looking and there a lot of international guys here if you are into that.

Off-Campus Housing: If you want an apartment off campus you don't get a meal plan so take that into consideration. Also, it is quite a long distance from classes and if you want to get one you need to begin looking about a year before you actually plan to get it.

Drug Safety: This school is terrible for alcohol and drugs and partying. Really stupid. There are parties all the time and you can hear the idiots screaming from your dorms until at least three in the morning. God forbid you actually need to study or sleep. Alcohol is a major problem and people literally walk around with cigarettes and hookas and talk about smoking marijuana in their rooms all the time. It really is ridiculous that they haven't been caught yet. No one really says anything to people that do it, they just tell them to be sneaky about it. My roommate went to a party the night we moved in and she brought a friend back at 3 in the morning and they started smoking marijuana IN THE ROOM!!!! Needless to say I moved to another room and applied to another university when I woke up in the morning.

Parking: The parking is so far away as to not be useful unless you really need your car to get to work. Plus the parking permit is over $500 so it really isn't worth unless like I said you need for work or you go home all the time.

Health & Safety: Well... since I have been here (3 mos.) there has been at least one shooting on campus, one wanted murdered running through the town, and an extremely violent riot. Ridiculous really! I don't feel comfortable walking anywhere on campus before 7am and after 5 pm when it starts to get dark. I rarely see security forces, but they do give out a lot of parking tickets and they are very strict about NO jaywalking.

Off-Campus Dining: Most places do offer a student discount but they are the same places as anywhere you go. There are at least three pizza places, a few breakfast places, and a Chilis and Cheeburger. These are kind of expensive though. They are also a long distance from many of the dorms on south campus.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Food: The dining halls are far from the dorms and they generally re-use their menus. It is inconvenient because they are not big enough for all of the students. There is never any available seats and the lines are extremely long. If you choose to not use your meals you can go to Trabant food center or go to one of the pods which are still at least 15 minutes from where I am.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: There really isn't a lot to do unless you are specifically involved in a Greek organization or clubs. All the facilities on North Campus are brand new and a lot of events happen up there. The facilities on South campus are old and outdated and we never have events so we have to walk the thirty minutes to North campus to do anything. This school definitely caters to the honors kids and those pursuing a degree in biology.

Campus Housing: North campus is 30 minutes from south campus and a long walk from classes. Some are better than others, Warner Hall is all female. This one and most of the other dorms are not air conditioned and are rather old.

2 College Sophomore

Technology: The wifi is spotty at best and it likes to stop working when you have an online quiz or when you are in the middle of an essay. There really aren't that many computer labs and everyone I know has a computer because you can't get by here without your own.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Normal weather for the area. It can get really hot one day and be freezing the next. Seriously we had snow yesterday and it will be in the 60s on Sunday. It comes with this area.

3 College Sophomore

Local Area: It is in a fairly large town. There are a lot of rich people and they know they are rich. Some people are very friendly, others not so much. Most students here just go to parties most of the time. People don't really seem to be interested in cultural aspects, but there should be more recreational things to do around here.

2 College Sophomore

Transportation: It is a very large campus so it is necessary to have buses of some sort because without them it would take at least 45 minutes to get from one end to the next. They don't travel to all the dorms and they stop at inconvenient places.

Majors: I am very satisfied with my decision to major in biology. Currently, i am a junior. I plan to either go to med school or grad school. I have not decided yet, but attending a summer internship will help me with that decision. When i am completely finished, I feel confident of securing a position. There is a huge need for scientists and doctors.

Majors: I am a biology major in my third year of college. The course load is very intensive. I spend many many hours studying. I usually spend all night and several days preparing for a science exam. Science is challenging but also very interesting and fascinating. I hope to be selected for a summer internship in 2014. I do realize internships are highly competitive.

Athletics: The football team is very popular at the University of Delaware, known as the Blue Hens.We have basketball programs, women's volleyball, numerous athletic fields, ice sports, swimming and several stadiums. There is also golf, track, tennis, hockey and numerous other programs. School spirit and student support is very high here.

Greek Life: I do not know any Greek students. They stay to themselves. They have their own events, activities and parties.

Academics: I am a biology major. Most science professors here are also doing private research. I believe this brings a unique experience to the classroom. It's not just textbook learning. The science courses are difficult, particularly Organic Chemistry. Most of the time it seems as though everything is due at the same time. However, now in my third year, I believe it's just the way college is. You either swim or drown.

Academics: Registration process was a snap for me. I am a biology major. I believe the science curriculum is one of the best. Governmental and private research is conducted in many science areas. The professors conducting research must also teach at least one subject. I believe this brings a unique experience to the classroom. The science courses are difficult and require a lot of studying. The professors are available during office hours for help.

Campus Quality: At my university research is conducted in the science areas. The science professors doing research must teach at least one class. This brings real experiences and information to the classroom. It's not just text book learning here. That's the biggest reason i chose this university. I am a biology major. The campus is within walking distance to shops, restaurants and night clubs. There is also a regular bus system.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: I receive grants and scholarships. The university qualified me for this funding. They were very very helpful. My advise it to complete the fafsa forms and schedule an appointment with your advisor.

Campus Food: If you live on campus, you must have a dining plan. It consists of meals and points. The points can carry over to the next semester if not used. The meals expire weekly if not used. The meals are inconsistent. There will be days that the food is good. Then, there will be days that the food is bad. It seems to run like that. I have discovered a dining hall named Russell. It seems to serve a better meal on Sundays. The menu is published on line everyday.

Overall Experience: I love my university. This is my 3rd year. I am a biology major. The science program is hard but great. The campus is close to shops, restaurants and niteclubs. The students are very friendly, I have made many friends. The busses run regularly. If I could do it all over again, I would still choose the University of Delaware.

3 College Freshman

Parking: I personally would never bring a car. Everything is within walking distance and parking is very expensive. There are many parking garages so you can park wherever you need.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: Cleveland avenue is the private party scene Thursday thru Saturday. The campus is within walking distance to restaurants, shops bars and niteclubs. The busses run regularly.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
