Transportation: The busses are so convenient especially if you live far from classes! They come every 5 min and are FREE

4 College Junior

Technology: The wi-fi sometimes goes on and off but when it works it's really fast. Plus who doesn't have their own laptop nowadays...

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Typical white college girls basically

3 College Junior

Weather: I think in general the weather all around the country has been very bipolar.... typical East Coast weather with random hot days and random freezing days

Campus Quality: Plenty to do and plenty of places to be

Campus Quality: Everything's new and new things are constantly being built

Athletics: The new gym is amazing!

Off-Campus Dining: Main street is THE place to eat

Overall Experience: Besides the stuff talked about here, I love UD!

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing is so much cheaper than on-campus housing and most of the time the houses/apartments are closer than the dorms are to classes.

Greek Life: Greek life is definitely there, but you don't have to join a fraternity/sorority to make friends.

Drug Safety: Drink if you want to, don't if you don't want to. Nothing is forced upon you by the student body.

3 College Junior

Administration: Campus safety will only get involved if they see you doing something wrong. Try to stay out of their way and they'll stay out of yours.

Scholarships: have to fight for your right

Drug Safety: easy if you want it, but not noticeable if you done

Party Scene: easy to get to, cheap, varied

Party Scene: There are usually a lot of parties on the weekends, especially at frat houses. They're okay, sometimes they're not too fun. And they are impossible to get into if you are a guy who is not in the frat. The bar scene is decent. There are a good number of bars on mainstreet, in walking distance from campus and the dorms. There is no cover charge for students if you show your student ID. They often have theme nights like karaoke, live music, djs, etc..

Parking: Parking is ridiculous. The cost of parking permits are way too high, especially considering the location of the lots. Many of the lots are far away from the dorms. I had to purchase an expensive pass for a lot that is one mile from my dorm. It is not convenient at all. Also, you cant park anywhere without a permit, or in a lot not covered by your permit, or else you're almost guaranteed to get a ticket.

Administration: The campus is extremely strict with parking, its a bit ridiculous. You must purchase an expensive parking pass if you would like to have your car on campus, and the lot that you must park it in could be very far from your dorm. I had to park my car a mile from my dorm, even though I was paying so much. One time I parked my car in front of my dorm to pack some things into my car, and my pass had fallen down and I immediately got a parking ticket. Attendance really depends on your class; for some, attendance is essential to pass the class, and in others it doesn't matter at all.

Drug Safety: Drinking is a huge thing at the University of Delaware. Many students take part, and there are parties going on a lot of the time, especially at frat houses. There are always cops around that break up parties and to try to catch you doing something stupid. Also, there are a good number of students that smoke marijuana at UD, as you hear many people talking about it. I've also heard a good number of students talking about them using adderall, especially during finals week.

Campus Food: I love the dining halls. Always a good variety of choices available. There could be more vegetarian/vegan options (there are usually only four things out for these students). Sometimes it gets a little crowded and the staff can be rude on occasion, but the value is great, and I'm patient so I don't mind the lines.

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: There are lots of educational posters and videos available to students. Campus knows that parties and alcohol happen, thus they set up teams of security and police on weekend nights to make sure everyone is safe and no one is doing anything stupid. The visibility of drugs are abundant. I would say 75% of students here use alcohol or drugs on the weekends.

Overall Experience: The price is a little high, but I had some great times. I have met a large diversity of people and a large amount of people I now know I despise. I have gotten to see some good concerts at school too for prices that were crazy cheap. The staff there is great, and the english department is awesome. That would be my main reason for going back.

Greek Life: Its the best if that is for you. They are everywhere, always asking for money for a charity and throw the biggest parties. Though if you are not a greek, good luck getting into the parties because they are very exclusive about who gets in, and have a list of rules (such as if you are a guy you have to bring 3 "attractive" girls with you or you can't get in).

Academics: English majors don't get anything. All of our classes are offered as breadth classes, which means, anyone can take them. This makes it difficult to get into classes that we need for our degrees because someone is taking them just because. There also aren't very many sections of our classes offered which again, makes it difficult to get into classes with very limited seats.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
