2 College Senior

Parking: great choices for off campus parking but expense is relative distance from campus

2 College Senior

Party Scene: not much to choose from .... bars have a short life span in newark because there is no business during summer and winter

2 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: quite a variety just wish they would they would stay longer; difficult for them to maintain business when school is not in session

2 College Senior

Academics: competitive and aggressive studies in engineering and chemistry

2 College Senior

Academics: professors covered a broad spectrum

2 College Senior

Technology: adequate connectivity and established framework for faculty to interact with students if they choose to use it

Drug Safety: Newark city keeps a tight control and so does campus adminstration

1 College Senior

Transportation: what public transportation ... to go off campus locations is not easy

2 College Senior

Campus Quality: student life is average ... campus housing is spread out but the town of Newark is great college town

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: The College is very diverse. I think we have a smattering of everything here.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Great Financial Aid people. They are available and helpful when I have questions.

Guys & Girls: Creative people who are vey nice and helpful. Everyone here is hoping to find a job in the Hospitality Industry and most people understand that you have to be hospitable on a daily basis.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Both dormitory style and apartment style housing available. Upperclassmen are eligible for apartment style.

Off-Campus Dining: Typical College town restaurants though some big names have recently moved in, Bobby Flay, Harvest, etc.

Off-Campus Housing: There are so many places to live off campus! The great thing about off campus is that even though it is "off campus" it's so close that you still feel like you're living on campus. There are all different price ranges and locations of apartments, town houses, and houses.

Diversity: There are a lot of people with different personalities and beliefs, but when it comes to races we need to diversify more. There are a solid amount of international students, but still the University is trying to expand its diversity.

Weather: It rains often and recently has been very windy. However, the fall time and the spring time are absolutely beautiful. People are always outside, playing frisbee, having a snack, or even just studying on our green.

Transportation: UD's campus is walkable, however there are shuttles that go around campus. They come frequently to several stops around campus and even have wifi! On Saturday's there is usually a UD shuttle that will bring you to the mall and then pick you up after. The mall is 10/15 minutes away!

Off-Campus Dining: UD has Main Street which has everything you could want to eat and more! I absolutely love all the restaurants and cafes. If you ever come there are some must haves: Kate's nachos, Iron Hill's sweet potato fries, and Homegrown grilled cheese.

Drug Safety: The drug scene at UD isn't really big. However, there is a big party scene. UD cares about safety and makes sure to mention the fact that we encourage amnesty.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I did not receive anything for scholarships. But, I did receive a grant. The interest rate at UD is less than taking out other loans. I wish I got a scholarship because I do so much for the University, but not everyone receives merit based scholarships.

Campus Quality: UD is constantly renovating and building new facilities. Our gym, the "little bob" just got renovated and is absolutely breath taking. The gym is three levels with new equipment on each floor. There is also a pool, a diving pool, a rock climbing wall, a gym, work out studio rooms, racquet ball courts and even more!

Overall Experience: I am obsessed with UD. The school is medium sized, but with big school opportunities. There are so many opportunities to have an amazing college career and there are even more opportunities to get a job after college. Everyone here is social and friendly and just wants to make friends.

Campus Food: There are 5 dining halls around campus. Russell is definitely the best one, but the others are still good. Sometimes you get food thats undercooked or overcooked, but in that case you can file a complaint to the manager and they usually fix the problems. Regardless, it's college food. It will never be as good as home cooked meals.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
