Off-Campus Housing: There are many off campus apartments located right next to the school with reasonable prices. The shuttle buses stop also there which is great!

Local Area: There is not much to do outside of the college town, but students here are extremely friendly and there is always something to do on campus.

Parking: There are close to no free-parking spaces and parking permits are ridiculously expensive.

Administration: Overly strict, especially post-I'm Schmacked. Still, Delaware has a great party scene. On the upside, if you're sickly drunk, a cop will find you and help you (you'll still get in trouble, but just with the school)

Off-Campus Dining: Newark is a great college town and offers a lot of alternative options to the dining halls. Main Street contains plenty of offerings-everything from Diners to Panera Bread.

Majors: I have been impressed with my school, particularly some of my fellow students who are also particularly career oriented. The facilities are impressive. Also, some of the student run groups are very organized and professional. Generally my teachers have been good but there are the occasional clowns that you'll get a class with.

Diversity: Racial diversity is marginal. The vast majority of student are white. The 2nd greatest presence are Asian students. I'd say the student body is pretty 50/50 on the political spectrum, but out of state students are usually conservative (probably because out of state tuition is so high, thus wealthier family can afford it)

Health & Safety: Very safe, lots of campus police and help buttons around campus.

Majors: My major was fairly simple, you just fill out a short application and then have either an interview or write a short paper!

Campus Housing: They are starting to build more dorms but need more options for upper class men housing besides the towers!

Majors: SO MANY CHOICES! There is something for everyone. If you cannot find a major at this school, I really doubt you will be able to anywhere!

Academics: I am very proud to be going to UD. I believe the professors are awesome (on the most part). I am in the honors program which I highly recommend because class sizes are smaller, which gives you a chance to get to know your professors and peers.

Campus Housing: Russell is a great place to live as a freshman. Also, the school is constantly updating and building newer and better housing, which is definitely something to look forward to!

Off-Campus Dining: There is a lot of variety for off-campus dining. Main Street is basically on campus so it's extremely convenient. It is walking distance from almost any student residential area. During the first few weeks of school, people give out coupons for Main Street restaurants. Most restaurants aren't expensive at all.

Athletics: Honestly I do not know too much about this area. I'm not exactly a sports fan. However, UD has a large variety of sports team, both competitive and recreational. There is a lot of school spirit at games and there are spirit days where you can get free stuff for wearing school colors.

Weather: It rains pretty often. I have had to walk through pouring rain a few times before now. Though I was recently reminded of this because it poured yesterday. If I had taken this survey last week I may have given a better grade.

Diversity: There is a lot of diversity on campus, but the majority of people by far does appear to be white. However, there are some multicultural events, clubs, and restaurants. There could definitely be more diversity.

Scholarships: The only aid I have received is through the fafsa. It was a hassle but things eventually got sorted out.

Campus Food: The dining hall food is hit or miss. Some days everything they have to offer will be good, and others everything will be terrible. What gives this a B+ though is the fact that our other dining options where we get to use points has places like chick-fil-a and quiznos. Those two definitely bring the grade up.

Majors: Nursing is a great major but very competitive. Clinicals are all of senior year which is easier because you already completed the class work.

Parking: There is no free parking anywhere on campus. If you live in off campus housing you do not qualify for campus parking permits. Any open lots are metered and garages are $1 per half hour. Parking for students who live on campus is expensive and if you live on campus you pay the same no matter whether there is room in the close lot for you or if you have to park all the way down by the field house, which is about 2miles from everything else.

Majors: I like the Health Behavior Science program. My peers are nice and helpful as well as the faculty. The only reason I would redo it would be to do it sooner, because I took time off and also transferred, causing me to graduate years behind my scheduled graduation date. I feel like now days you have to go to grad school for everything. This major is less stressful and a good start for any health related graduate program.

Majors: There are many internship opportunities. Not all internships are paid. I have to do an internship for my major to graduate, whether it is paid or not. There are both full time and part time internship opportunities. My internship will be health related since I am in a major involved with health.

Majors: I'm in the College of Sciences, Health Behavior Science. The are some thing I like and don't like. There are some classes I'm not sure why I need. I like most of the instructors, some more than others. Everyone teaches different, but I feel like everyone in the program should have similar philosophies. My major dislike is the way my classes are offered. The fact that only select classes are offered during special sessions is causing me to push my graduation date back.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
