Athletics: Students are more concerned with getting drunk and going to parties than they are with going to football games.

Drug Safety: It's college, so seeing drunk students is a normal thing. I've never seen anyone doing drugs, but I've heard that it happens quite often.

Technology: I have my own laptop and own printer so I don't use the computer labs or printers elsewhere. The wireless access is okay. Sometimes, it doesn't work but I guess you can expect that anywhere. I wish the wireless was more accessible on the buses though! 3G eats my battery up so fast.

Health & Safety: There is crime that occurs around campus, but I think that that will happen anywhere. I always feel safe walking around, even at night by myself. They have these blue lights all around campus that have a button on them. You can press the button if you need help & it connects you to the police who will come if you are in danger. There is also an escort service that you can call if you don't feel safe walking alone. The student health center is just like a doctor's office. They can treat many things, and they even have a women's health center.

Scholarships: I really need financial aid, but it is very difficult to get any help. I've only been able to obtain loans, which are ok, but I get good grades and really financially need more help. I went to the financial aid office before to discuss possible scholarships or any other available options but the man was very rude to me and offered no assistance. Also, I can never sign up for my classes until last minute because my payments are a bit late.

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many options within walking distance of campus. Just on mainstreet, you can find anything that you're in the mood for. There are many sit down restaurants and quick sit down or take out places too. Also, many of the places deliver! Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays there are several places that are open very late (some until 3 in the morning!) so you wont be left hungry at night. You can always find a good deal, and there are coupon books passed out at the beginning of each semester for many of the off-campus dining options.

Technology: Never have I ever gone into any computer lab and have had to wait.

Diversity: Delaware has a wide variety of students who fall under every ethnicity I know.

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life really is the soul of Delaware. A lot of people get very wild over greek life events.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: People do drink and smoke pot frequently but like anything it depends what crowd you are in and who you hang out with.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: This school is very interesting as it does not feel like a college. It actually feels very similar to an extension of high school with less rules and you live on your own. Something about the college aspect of Delaware seems to be missing but if you loved high school you'll love this school. You will realize I am right once you attend.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: The Football team isn't really the main selling point of athletics. It actually seems like Lacrosse is the big sport at Delaware. Not so many people attend the games unfortunately.

Transportation: All the transportation is free as long as you are a student and buses run frequently throughout the day and night making it easy for anyone to get to the other side of campus with out walking far.

Guys & Girls: Every other girl you see seems to be a strong 7 therefore the campus is full of attractive girls who have a lot of personality and are really fun. They tend to dress up nice for class also which is nice.

5 College Freshman

Academics: It is so much fun. Workload is decent Facilities are awesome. Everyone is trying to help you get an internship.

5 College Freshman

Academics: A lot of diverse topics to study and we are encouraged to pursue them.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: I am a vegetarian and all around campus there are a decent amount of vegetarian options. Its really about knowing where to go when.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: There are a lot of fun things to do around campus and on main street.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Most the dorms are rather old and a lot of others are under construction and renovation. Almost all buildings are in the process of being renovated.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: There is mostly football support along with the intramurals.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I'm only a freshman so I do not know much about this either. I know its available and runs at pretty decent prices

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: I am under aged and cannot go to bars so I really do not know.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Alcohol is abundant on campus because a lot of students view this as a "party" school.

3 College Freshman

Technology: My main issue is the fixed allotment of money for printing at the library especially because I have a class that requires me to print out and bring multiple sheets every week.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: The majority of preppy girls go out and party every weekend. Guys can't get into parties unless they are with girls so there are more girls going out than guys generally.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
