Party Scene: I am under aged and cannot go to bars so I really do not know.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Alcohol is abundant on campus because a lot of students view this as a "party" school.

3 College Freshman

Technology: My main issue is the fixed allotment of money for printing at the library especially because I have a class that requires me to print out and bring multiple sheets every week.

Guys & Girls: The majority of preppy girls go out and party every weekend. Guys can't get into parties unless they are with girls so there are more girls going out than guys generally.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There are always police, in cars as well as on bikes, patrolling around.

5 College Freshman

Majors: I love all the opportunities I'm offered around campus, especially for my major.

Scholarships: It wasn't especially difficult just wish there were more opportunities.

Weather: t does not impact it at all.

Campus Quality: This school is party heavy. Greek life is pretty big here on campus. It has a great atmosphere and there are many chances to meet a lot of cool people. I wish sports were actually a big deal here though. No one really attends games or anything like that beyond freshman year.

Campus Quality: The new gym is extremely nice! The dorms and on campus housing could use some work, but they are building a lot of new things.

Overall Experience: I love my school, but I don't know if I would still choose it. This was not my first choice to begin with. I would probably choose another school. Since I decided to go to this school that's what got me into the program that got me so behind that I ended up not going with the major I have been wanting to be in for as long as I can remember.

Party Scene: I don't really go to the bar. I have only been to two places, which were fairly close to my dorm. One place was a sports bar but also a restaurant and it was easy to get into since it wasn't just a bar. The other place was a karaoke place and had live bands that played there. I didn't go tot he bar at neither place because I don't drink. My friends did and they got carded but there was no cover charge. I bet there may be parties throughout the week but it seems to be mostly on weekends, but I don't do the party thing.

Weather: Depending on when you are up here sometimes it either seems like it is too cold or too hot. Especially now with the winter coming. You don't see people outside as much, unless they are going to class. It affects you because some days you don't want to leave out of your room, even if it is just to go to the dining hall. Depending on when you want to take the bus at these times they are packed. For some when school starts right after Summer it is to hot to walk to class, and as it gets closer to Winter it is to cold to ride the bus.

Academics: As of right now I am a English major with a concentration of creative writing. I enjoy the major there are a lot of fun classes you can take, and there are some internship opportunities. They have workshops you can take like short story, poetry, and script writing, which can help you develop even the more.

Academics: One thing I like about it is there are a wide variety of courses and Majors and minors. The workload is difficult at times, but that is expected. You can study abroad which I really love and one day hope to do. For the most part the professors I have had were nice, but serious when it comes to work, participating, and succeeding in the class. Registration is easy as long as you know what it is you need to take next for what you are studying.

Transportation: When it comes to the campus shuttle, sometimes you just don't know when they are going to come. They have an app for it but the times are always changing. A lot of times the buses are so packed, so you might have to end up waiting for the next bus. Those are a couple of reasons why I now just choose to walk to class. The good thing about the shuttles is that they are free you don't have to get on a pay. I have never taken the local transportation, but the cost doesn't seem bad. I had planned on riding once so I made sure to find out the costs to get from Newark to Georgetown Delaware, and it wasn't bad. You just have to make sure you have exact change.

Majors: I myself have not had an internship. I have heard from some who have, but have never asked about the pay. It seems as though they like it. For them it is just an enriching experience, that really helps them work towards their goal. I do have concerns because I just don't have that much experience with certain things, and my resume isn't as long as others. Plus I do not have a vehicle so transportation is another concern.

Majors: I did sort of a parallel program type of thing. I did two years down at the Del Tech Owens campus in Georgetown, but they were still UD classes. The only thing with that is you tend to be really behind once you get up on main campus, depending on what your major is, because they don't have all the classes you need down there. That is one thing that they don't really tell you. If I had known that I would have just started on main campus my freshman year, then I would have been in the major I wanted from the start. So I wouldn't do that over again. I want to do something with animals in my future, maybe become a vet tech. There are more and more people trying to these lines of professions so I think it may be difficult trying to find a job. I guess you would just have to know the right place to go.

Parking: I really don't know too much about this. I hear mixed feelings from people on the issue. I guess it all depends on the person on whether it is to expensive. I bet they do fill up quickly because all the lots I have seen are always full, but I am not sure if any of those are considered off campus.

Campus Housing: I really like our housing. I live in the Independence complex in the Thomas Mckean building, which was built in 2006 or 2007 I believe. There is a good deal of space in every building for everyone. It is a bit of a walk from here to class, unless you ride the bus. It's a good social atmosphere because you are always able to go and visit someone in another room. We have little activities to help you get to know people. The only thing that I don't really like about it is that when you have a single suite or even with a double, you can't lock your bathroom door. So you just have to trust that your suite mate or their friends they have over won't come in your room.

Scholarships: It was a hassle, but I didn't receive all of the financial aid that I needed. I don't really understand it because in previous years I had received a good amount of financial aid, which were mostly loans that I will be working my whole life to pay back. I did the FASFA and they gave me what they thought I needed and this was with both parents being employed. Now this year only one of my parents are employed and I did the FASFA and hardly got any financial aid. I don't really understand it I think things could be better especially in this day in time where there is a lot of struggle. It just gets to the point where you don't even know if you are going to be able to continue school.

4 College Senior

Technology: There are a lot of labs because they seem to have one in many of the buildings. I just don't know how available they are. When it comes to the ones in the library many times you might try to go use one and they are taken. So it would be good for you to have your own. If you have your own you can do whatever it is you need to do in your room, you won't have to walk or take the bus to the library. Especially if you live on North campus it is a walk to get to the library, unless you decide to take the bus. The printing is good because they have stations set up in different places and they give you I believe 5 dollars toward your printing. The speed of the network is normally good, and I have never had one of the systems mess up on me. I think that it is still a good idea to have your own though, just in case.

Off-Campus Housing: Once again this is something that I don't know to much about. There is always someone posting something in the Housing page on Facebook. There seems to be a lot of places you can find to live off of campus. When we have our halfway there parties, once you are a junior or about to be one they have someone there that tells you about some off campus living opportunities. I can see a pro being that you have your own place, you can cook your own meals and don't have to be limited to dining hall food. Also unless you take a room mate you don't have to share anything with anyone else, and don't have to worry about anyone coming into your room that shouldn't be there.

3 College Senior

Greek Life: I really do not know to much on this subject. I do see the houses around and some of them look very nice on the outside, but I have never been in one. Most people I know that are non- Greeks don't seem to have anything against those who are apart of Greek life. I think it is something where it is for some people and for others it is not. I think if anything it would be associated with parties and things like that. Sometimes it can liven things up on campus, but most of the times I don't really even notice it.

Athletics: The one big thing I can think of is the football team and the games. Game day is always an exciting time when you get to go. There is just so much support from the student body and others as well. Our stadium is set up where you have the home bleachers on one side, visiting bleachers on one side. Then we have what we call the cockpit, which is where the students usually sit to watch the game. This gives us a chance as members of the school to come together in unity to support and cheer for our team. Just recently our girls field hockey participated in the CAA championship game, and people where given the opportunity to go and see them as they left to head to the game. There are always so many opportunities to support our sports teams and people really do take advantage of them. There is never a day that goes by that I don't see someone wearing something that refers to our school. I think the students here as well as myself just have so much pride in our sports teams, whether its; football, field hockey, basketball, baseball, the list goes on and on. The gyms are really nice and friendly for athletes and non athletes.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
