Majors: I am very satisfied with my decision to major in biology. Currently, i am a junior. I plan to either go to med school or grad school. I have not decided yet, but attending a summer internship will help me with that decision. When i am completely finished, I feel confident of securing a position. There is a huge need for scientists and doctors.

Majors: I am a biology major in my third year of college. The course load is very intensive. I spend many many hours studying. I usually spend all night and several days preparing for a science exam. Science is challenging but also very interesting and fascinating. I hope to be selected for a summer internship in 2014. I do realize internships are highly competitive.

Athletics: The football team is very popular at the University of Delaware, known as the Blue Hens.We have basketball programs, women's volleyball, numerous athletic fields, ice sports, swimming and several stadiums. There is also golf, track, tennis, hockey and numerous other programs. School spirit and student support is very high here.

Greek Life: I do not know any Greek students. They stay to themselves. They have their own events, activities and parties.

Academics: I am a biology major. Most science professors here are also doing private research. I believe this brings a unique experience to the classroom. It's not just textbook learning. The science courses are difficult, particularly Organic Chemistry. Most of the time it seems as though everything is due at the same time. However, now in my third year, I believe it's just the way college is. You either swim or drown.

Academics: Registration process was a snap for me. I am a biology major. I believe the science curriculum is one of the best. Governmental and private research is conducted in many science areas. The professors conducting research must also teach at least one subject. I believe this brings a unique experience to the classroom. The science courses are difficult and require a lot of studying. The professors are available during office hours for help.

Campus Quality: At my university research is conducted in the science areas. The science professors doing research must teach at least one class. This brings real experiences and information to the classroom. It's not just text book learning here. That's the biggest reason i chose this university. I am a biology major. The campus is within walking distance to shops, restaurants and night clubs. There is also a regular bus system.

Scholarships: I receive grants and scholarships. The university qualified me for this funding. They were very very helpful. My advise it to complete the fafsa forms and schedule an appointment with your advisor.

Campus Food: If you live on campus, you must have a dining plan. It consists of meals and points. The points can carry over to the next semester if not used. The meals expire weekly if not used. The meals are inconsistent. There will be days that the food is good. Then, there will be days that the food is bad. It seems to run like that. I have discovered a dining hall named Russell. It seems to serve a better meal on Sundays. The menu is published on line everyday.

Overall Experience: I love my university. This is my 3rd year. I am a biology major. The science program is hard but great. The campus is close to shops, restaurants and niteclubs. The students are very friendly, I have made many friends. The busses run regularly. If I could do it all over again, I would still choose the University of Delaware.

Parking: I personally would never bring a car. Everything is within walking distance and parking is very expensive. There are many parking garages so you can park wherever you need.

Party Scene: Cleveland avenue is the private party scene Thursday thru Saturday. The campus is within walking distance to restaurants, shops bars and niteclubs. The busses run regularly.

Campus Quality: The buildings here are beautiful but some are really old and could definitely be renovated. However, we have a lot of great places to go and this school is known for science so we have really nice labs and study places.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: We have a train station within walking distance. The airport is an hour away so it can be a hassle to get there. We have lots of buses like magus that comes to campus everyday and can take you to major cities.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: huge variety of dining restaurants, all types of cuisine. Some are very reasonable such as burgers, asian and pizza.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: The guys think the selection of girls on campus is really great. My brother says this school is full of hot girls. Thankfully, no one is too preppy or conceited but there are some dumb blonds….

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many places off campus to eat and it's all within walking distance. We have the best of all foods, whether you're in the mood for Mexican, Chinese, or breakfast.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: A lot of students here drink and smoke. There aren't serious drugs on campus though which is a good thing. Alcohol is extremely prevalent on campus and easy to get.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: Newark is a small town but there is so much to do on campus and around campus. There's Main St which is where a lot of people hang out in their free time. The mall is easily accessible by public bus and the beach is around 40 minutes away.

Greek Life: Greek life isn't a huge thing here. Guys join frats just so it's easier to get into parties and girls join just for the social aspect. There are no snobs or greek chapters that especially stand out. Almost all of them have houses but some are pretty far from campus.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There are always police officers around if needed and the university makes sure students are aware of this. We have emergency boxes all over campus in case something happens and there are public safety students who walk around campus at night. I feel very safe and there haven't been any problems. There is also an alert system where the police will send everyone text messages and emails if something happens.

Overall Experience: I absolutely love my school! There is so much to do and I love the campus. It's beautiful and there are so many different clubs and places to go. I'm never bored. The people here are also very nice. I haven't had problems with anyone and everyone is respectful. We're a community and it shows.

2 College Freshman

Athletics: We aren't really known for sports. The only sport that people are interested in is football and the team isn't that great.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: There is pretty much no space and it's not the cleanest or nicest dorm buildings. However, the social aspect outweighs all the negatives. My floor is like my family and we all get along really well. I can't imagine living anywhere else.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: It is a lot better than high school so I can't really complain but I miss home made meals.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
