3 College Freshman

Scholarships: They arent the best for giving scholarships which is why I am still currently filling out more.

5 College Freshman

Party Scene: Night life is very fun!!!

4 College Freshman

Weather: Rainy sometimes but for the most part the weather is amazing.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: For the most part everyone is very friendly and inviting. I would say that a good majority of campus is interested in partying and the night life but there are people who do just about everything so you dont always have to go out and party just to make friends.

Technology: Internet speed could be a little faster at times.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I got a pretty nice scholarship, but it would've been nicer to receive a bit more, especially because my credentials were above the school's averages.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: People really like off-campus housing because of the freedom it allows. There are plenty of options but many are pretty pricey.

Health & Safety: The campus always feels very safe. I have never been in a situation where I felt fear for my safety, even when I am walking alone at night.

Campus Housing: Some options are wonderful. The honors dorm (Redding) is beautiful and the rooms are huge. Other options, like the dorms on West Campus, are basically falling apart and are very old and pretty worn down.

2 College Freshman

Diversity: There is minimal diversity here and it feels really weird, especially for someone like me who is from an area with lots of diversity. Everyone seems the same in terms of personality and appearance.

Campus Food: The dining hall food is pretty bad and choices are always limited. The vegetarian options are minimal and repetitive and there are few options for people who have dietary needs. The hours of the dining halls are also very inconvenient and limited.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: It's too far South for people to be politically correct and too far North for people to give any regard to Southern hospitality. The school is beautiful, but the people are very Greek-oriented and often very snobby.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: It's pretty big on campus, but it's definitely not weird if you choose to opt out. Guys who aren't in frats often have trouble getting into parties though.

3 College Freshman

Local Area: Main Street is pretty nice, but that's all there is and it gets boring after a while. If you enjoy the excitement of a big city, Newark has little to offer you.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drugs are not too prominent but they are definitely present. Most students drink and though no one will pressure you to drink, it's one of the main things students, especially underclassmen, will partake in.

4 College Freshman

Administration: As long as you're not acting outwardly stupid, you generally won't have a problem with campus or Newark police.

3 College Freshman

Technology: You must have your own laptop because so many assignments are completed/submitted digitally.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are lots of options for off-campus dining on Main Street. There is plenty of variety and a lot of places that are open late and offer delivery.

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: Hard to get and its a big hassle

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
