Diversity: On campus there really isn't a representation of different ethnicities. However, in the Associates in Arts program in Wilmington there is much diversity among the students.

Campus Food: SO MANY OPTIONS ON ONE CAMPUS.

Transportation: If you're from Delaware and/or you have a car on campus, you're set.

Drug Safety: There are definitely certain groups that do it outwardly but don't get involved and you won't notice them.

Overall Experience: I seriously love UD. Even though DE is a small state, we're close to the Jersey Shore, Philadelphia, Baltimore and less than 90 minutes away from the beach. Many of us head down there during the summer and rent a house or something.

Administration: There was an I'm Schmacked event early on in the semester and 2 people were expelled, the Rugby team (party hosts) was forced to break until 2018. There were riots and fires, multiple arrests and many injured.

Do what you're supposed to and you won't have any issues, guys.

Campus Quality: Life on campus is great. I can't stand people that drive up and down main street during the semesters though. There are a lot of students lots of pedestrians!

5 College Junior

Campus Quality: In academics, UD is excellent. We just got a new science lab this year and it's so beautiful!

5 College Junior

Diversity: There are so many shades and so many cultures roaming around campus, it's fantastic!

Local Area: I'm going to focus this on the Delawarean perspective.

LOCATION:
If you're from a big city like NY, LA, Miami, or Philadelphia and you love the atmosphere/wouldn't change it for the world, UD isn't for you. I've lived in Delaware my entire life so I know that it's in the middle of the BosWash Meglapolis (Boston, NY, Philly, Baltimore, DC) While there's a lot to do on campus, you really have to leave the state to get to the good stuff.

SHOPPING:
Delaware=TAX FREE SHOPPING!! Christiana Mall is super close to UD campus. There's a Nordstrom, Urban Outfitters, H&M, Anthropologie, Brookstone, A&F, Barnes & Noble, AEO and everything in between!

SPORTS&REC:
Delaware has 0 sports teams besides the minor league Wilmington Blue Rocks. Most of us that are from here are fans of Philly teams (76ers, Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, Soul). UD games are fun to attend. Especially football games!

Guys & Girls: The girls here are attractive, but many of them play hard to get unless you go out and frequently party with them. Some girls are into the relationship at home, freedom at school deal, but that's hit or miss.

Off-Campus Housing: Wide variety of places to stay off-campus. Off campus housing ranges from $550 to $1300 a month, and some places include utilities in that price while others don't. Just check before signing a lease, and it's always better to live with the max number allowed in the apartment, because it cuts costs for the typically broke college student.

Scholarships: Financial aid is average here. Some students obviously receive more than others, but there are many factors that go into receiving aid. In state vs. out of state, grades, SAT/ACT scores, extracurriculars, etc.

Academics: Business majors at UD have it pretty good. The facilities are nice, and the Lerner College of Business is no-easy admission. You have to work hard throughout high school to get in, and last year, they only accepted 12% of applicants into the Lerner College. The workload is pretty manageable, and the curriculum is average. Definitely plan on reading most of the books, and making flashcards to study.

Academics: There are many good places to study on campus, and the library is huge. There are a wide array of professors for every subject, so it's fairly easy to schedule classes with better professors, rather than being stuck with professors who past students don't highly recommend.

Drug Safety: The Office of Student Conduct is pretty strict if you get caught using drugs or get caught consuming/possessing alcohol underage. Delaware liquor stores don't allow anyone without a valid ID in, so that's the quickest and easiest way to get caught. Also, don't wait in the parking lot for a friend to buy you alcohol, because many liquor stores (especially on weekends) have an undercover cop either in the store or in the parking lot scoping out the trouble.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
