Weather: It's very rainy and cold pretty much all the time during the Fall time but also the weather can be very bipolar and just decide to be 95 degrees in the middle of October.

Party Scene: Delaware is known for it's Day Drinks which are phenomenal but there aren't realty club's to go to unless you are in greek like or on a sports team and have mixers and such.

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I would say being in a Fraternity makes me take school more serious. There's a GPA Requirement within every Frat to stay in it, and you compete to be number within the school by attending many events and doing community/volunteer work so it makes competition positive and beneficial towards the school and community.

Transportation: For the most part the busses and shuttle for Udel students around the campus are great, the busses near Gore Hall come frequently but the West Campus shuttles tend to take a bit longer just because of their stretch across from everything on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: After I'm Schmacked, our president of the university has been very strict on house parties and our chances of bringing back tailgates to the school.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: It really just comes down to getting the grades to get/stay in the major. Finance is a very competitive major here so it's pretty hard with all the competition for companies such as EY and JP Morgan.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I enjoy it and the hands on work we have assigned us. Also Career Fairs are always good to go to here.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: My Freshman year was horrible with living in Dickinson Hall, it was the worst dorm and they didn't even showcase my dorm during orientation day. No A/C and very far from my class but other than that all the other dorms are relatively new and nice.

3 College Sophomore

Local Area: Delaware is revolved around the University itself.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Some advisors are bad. Student Services is okay.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Day Drinks, how involved everyone is and UDance.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Dining is average, about what you would expect from a college. Nothing great but nothing horrible either.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: UD does have diversity undoubtedly, mainly due to the great international programs it has. However there still is work to do as the campus is very white.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Parties are the way to go until you turn 21. There are plenty of options on main street after you turn 21.

Overall Experience: UD is an enormously underrated school across the college application world. It is the only school where I felt welcome touring the campus and the only one where I actually felt like they wanted me to come. The campus is beautiful (check out the green in the spring and fall) and is the perfect intermediate between a small and large school. Academically the professors are great (with the exception of a couple nuts, but you'll find that at any school) and there are many options to earn financial aid.

2 College Freshman

Diversity: Majority of the school is made up with white and asian people.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: People smoke (marijuana) and drink on campus. Just don't get caught and you're good.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: If you're a minority, you will feel like one. The school is great but it could be a little more diverse.

3 College Freshman

Local Area: There isn't much to do in Delaware. The highlight of the state might be the schools it has.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Always people partying at UD. It just depends on who you associate yourself with.

2 College Freshman

Campus Food: The campus dining food staff is more concerned with the presentation of the food than the actual taste and quality of the food. You'll find that the meals they serve are not worth the amount of money that you pay for it. There are meals and foods that I have never even seen or heard of. From best dining hall to worst: Rodney Dining Hall < Kent Dining Hall < Russel Dining Hall < Pencader Dining Hall. Many will argue that Russel is better than Pencader but Pencader gives you a lot more options that Russel does.

College Freshman

Scholarships: I received grants from the school but I know a lot of people who were unsatisfied with their financial aid package and had take out loans.

1 College Freshman

Academics: My first semester as a biology major was hell. Chemistry is close to impossible and I could barely understand what my biology teacher was trying to say. The curves help but be prepared to stay up all night to study for tests you may still potentially fail.

5 College Freshman

Academics: There is a wide variety of majors available at UD. Depending on your professor and major is what determines your workload.

5 College Freshman

Administration: It's not that strict on campus if you know how to be sneaky. I know many people smoke/drink in their rooms. It's just a matter of not getting caught. But if you do, just know you will not get off easily. Especially for any drug use.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
