Academics: Academics are pretty great here at UD. Classes aren't ridiculously hard but you do learn a lot. Our professors are all pretty awesome as well.

Diversity: I mean the university of delaware is mainly middle class white kids but there is a decent population of asians and some other minorities if you look closely

Greek Life: Greek Life is prevalent at UD and those who a part of it seem to really love it. I am not a part of greek life and have no desire to be. For boys it can be a little difficult to get into frat parties which are most house parties. As a girl greek life seems unappealing.

Local Area: The townies can sometimes be a little creepy but other than that it is so awesome to go down main street and hit up the night life

Technology: UD wifi is really reliable and it covers all of campus so you can even be sitting outside on the green and still be able to connect

3 College Student

Transportation: The UD bus app is really helpful but sometimes the buses are annoying to deal with. North South express is a life saver though when going from laird campus to classes

Health & Safety: I feel relatively safe on campus and am never really concerned about my well being. I am a girl so I don't particularly like to walk alone at night, but that is the same for anywhere.

2 College Junior

Weather: It rains very frequently here, especially in the spring. It makes it difficult to do work occasionally but it could be worse. We have bad weather and good weather like everywhere else. It's not something that can be changed, so the way you work around it has to be thought about

Academics: The workload is tough, but this is a great school where many great people have come from. Neighbors, family friends and potential future employers have told me that if they see UD on an application, that application automatically gets moved to the top of the pile because their programs produce such great graduates.

Off-Campus Dining: Tons of places to eat and a lot deliver. Can't complain!

Athletics: Athletics and sports teams make campus fun but they're not the sole focus. We definitely have school spirit but it pertains to all aspects and talents, not just the athletes.

Diversity: No one cares about your sexual preference here. You are free to be and act however you want. There is a large population of international students. There are also a wide range of religions throughout campus. Most people are accepting.

Greek Life: Greek life here is kind of a big deal and you can't go anywhere without seeing at least five people wearing their letters. However no one will treat you any differently if you join or don't join.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Most of the professors are pretty great and depending on your major, most people's workload is fairly manageable. However there could be more chances to do better in courses and more major, minor, and graduate options.

2 College Sophomore

Local Area: Local atmosphere is pretty boring.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: Not incredibly strict, not incredibly lenient. It's not bad, just okay.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: The snow makes delays and occasional cancellations and the rain makes it hard to go to class but when it's nice out walking to class is very much tolerable.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Campus security really cares about cracking down on students doing drugs and underage drinking so at times it can be hard to party.

4 College Sophomore

Technology: There are many computers with up to date software and top of the line models but only in a certain area of the campus and the wireless network at our school can be poor at times.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: Nightlife is fun here, as long as youre a girl you can pretty much go anywhere at night.

3 College Freshman

Weather: the weather is very average, completely seasonal, nothing bad to say about it

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: depends on what view you have towards greek life. it definitely has a bigger role at the school than anyone wants to admit.

Campus Housing: Campus housing is all based on luck of the draw. you can either be placed in the worst living conditions or the best, and as a freshman you're paying the same regardless

5 College Freshman

Transportation: For me it's been pretty easy to commute to and from school. Not only is there an amtrak within a 15 minute walk of campus, but there is a megabus that is super cheap that will go to places such as nyc, baltimore, philly, and dc

3 College Freshman

Administration: The campus isn't too strict, it's like most other colleges, there are limitations on what you cannot and can do but nothing that will really control how your time is spent

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
