2 College Junior

Scholarships: You can apply for financial aid, however, there is no guarantee you will receive it

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Public safety is always there to walk you back night.

3 College Junior

Campus Food: Always check menus/calendars for meal offerings.

3 College Senior

Party Scene: Not that much into it

3 College Senior

Campus Quality: Lots of things to get into

4 College Senior

Campus Quality: Sports and classrooms and dorms

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: Laws are not too strict

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Not too bad but not great

4 College Senior

Athletics: Football and basket ball all day.

3 College Senior

Transportation: Not too bad but not great

2 College Sophomore

Parking: Parking permit prices are ridiculous. It is impossible to find close parking spots and it is a hassle to have a car for this reason.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: The campus buses are great and the are spread out throughout campus. They often come right after the other which is annoying when you are timing out where you need to be because then the buses come every 25 mins instead of every 5-10.

4 College Sophomore

Technology: We get $5 printing money a semester which is plenty and there are various printing stations throughout campus. However, they are often not working for long spans of time. There are plenty of computers available because most people bring their own laptop. You get wireless access anywhere on campus but it often decides to turn off for not reason and be annoying. I recommend bringing your own computer and printer.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of options for every price level. Its hectic to look for because you need to sign a lease so far in advance for the best houses.

2 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Its not great because I don't ever see them unless they are breaking up a party or driving through the neighborhoods on the weekend looking for one. Many assaults and robberies happen on campus and near campus.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Sports are relatively important to school life. The first football game is always popular as is basketball. Besides those, no one cares but athletes can be picked out on campus very easily because they travel in packs and always wear their logos.

1 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: All the girls wear leggings and are stuck up partiers who only care about their looks. The guys are athletic or very nerdy and in the case of the athletes, they only care about the girls in the leggings.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: You do not need to sign in guests or check in with a security guard upon arrival to your dorm. Noise violations are strict in the beginning of the semester and then are less as the semester continues.

Campus Food: The dining halls are not accommodating to those with food allergies or restrictions and they do not do a good job of informing students of meals ingredients and contents.

5 College Sophomore

Weather: The weather doesn't affect campus life. It rarely snows during fall or spring semester but when it does the sidewalks are clear. However, when it rains, beware of the slippery brick pathways. If you are not wearing the proper footwear, you will slip.

3 College Sophomore

Local Area: Main Street runs right through campus and it feels like it is almost a part of the campus. There are many great shops and restaurants. On a college budget it can sometimes get expensive but its a great option to have occasionally.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: I am a new Public Policy major and have yet to take a course in the field. However, my general classes have been overall successful and interesting. The workload varies between classes but I feel the work asked of me was always fair.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Most professors are very accessible and will meet with you is you need clarification or just want to talk. The registration process is a nightmare because everyone is registering at the same time and the system cannot keep up and it takes forever.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Freshman housing is overall the best because of the community feel and proximity to classes, Perkins student center and Main Street. Upperclassmen housing, however is a completely different story. There is no social atmosphere and you either have to live far from central campus or live in un-air conditioned and old rooms.

5 College Freshman

Party Scene: Not very big on the bar/club scene. Mostly parties which are always fun. Walking is for the most part the only form of transportation, but nothing is too far away.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
