4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on this campus and if I were to feel unsafe there are many resources I can access.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I was placed in a dorm a newer dorm which was pretty spacious and had air conditioning.

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I joined Greek life which helped for a community for me at my school. Greek life makes the campus a lot smaller and opens many opportunities up for those who choose to take part.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: I personally do not attend any varsity games for any sport, but I am a part of the club swim team which has been a very good experience.

Overall Experience: I am a part of the club swim team which helped make my experience better. My decision to take part in Greek life at my school also helped me form great friendships and create a community within such a large school. I have found a home away from home at this school which helped me succeed academically.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Courses are hard but professors care to help. Classes can range from 20 to 200.

Drug Safety: It's there if you're looking for it, but otherwise, you can go around campus with out ever seeing marijuana.

Campus Housing: dorms could be easier to get to

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I wish it was easier to get questions answered

Health & Safety: I personally have never been a victim of assault on campus, but I do know of someone who lived on my freshman floor who was last year. Walking the streets of Newark can be dangerous, but mostly because of Newark residents, NOT the actual students or faculty at the University.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Since I am an engineer, most of my professors only teach lectures and hold 1-2 office hours per week. I have never had a bad experience with a professor, and each one has always made time to make an appointment with me, and replied to my emails fairly quickly.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I have only received an internship outside of school, but I have handfuls of friends of engineers who have gotten internships and research opportunities easily by talking to career services, advisors, and research professors.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Since UD is becoming a larger school, more freshman have been tripled in double rooms, and more off campus apartments have been built further away from classes. However most dorms are very clean with air conditioning and an adequate amount of restrooms for each floor. The living quality of my freshman dorm was great because I lived in George Reed, a suite style dorm with one bathroom to two doubled rooms. However the suite style made the dorm less social, and I have made many more friends as a sophomore in an off campus apartment.

Greek Life: As a student that does not have the time to be involved in Greek life but only has friends who are involved, I can say that Greek life is extremely popular at UD. Sometimes not being involved is great because there is a lot expected of these Greek members weekly, and some days as a Non-Greek you feel very left out.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: With an abundance of activities to be involved in at UD, varsity sport don't always shine out as being an important aspect of college life here. However I am on the club volleyball team and do intramurals and must say both are popular.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The University of Delaware is an outstanding place to spend four years of your young adult life. I am a chemical engineer and still enjoy almost all activities my school offers.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The residential dorms vary with amenities, convenience, and spacial features. Even though almost all of the older dorms are being remodeled or given more features, there is still a small disadvantage if given the older dorms compared to the newer ones. Such as there is no air conditioning or there is less washers and dryers.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
