Parking: I have never had a car on campus but I have seen friends struggle with parking.

Campus Housing: The process of finding on campus housing was very easy to complete

Greek Life: I am not involved with Greek Life at UD but I do know and hang out with people from greek life.

Local Area: Delaware as a state is not the most culturally exciting state but UD's campus is great. Also Newark isn't that far from Philly, NYC or Baltimore.

4 College Senior

Academics: The professors at UD are generally very helpful to students.

3 College Senior

Academics: I often joke that my major is making me crazy. The workload for my classes does not necessarily have to be a lot. But it does if you want to do well.

3 College Senior

Administration: I think it is hard to judge how the schools policies affect lives b/c I do not know anything else.

3 College Senior

Technology: UD has free wifi for students on campus. There is also a secure network students can log on to. Generally the internet runs welll on campus.

4 College Senior

Athletics: UD just got a new work out facility and it is great. They added an indoor track and lots more machines. It is very convenient for students looking to work out.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: I used to walk across campus at night and feel relatively comfortable.

5 College Senior

Campus Quality: I love being at UD! There are a wide variety of clubs and programs available for students to participate in. There are tons of different student run concerts, recitals and shows to attend regularly.

5 College Senior

Campus Quality: Its awesome! There are so many different events on campus for students to attend and the best part is that most of them are free or very cheap for students.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: I had received academic scholarships from UD. But for me it was not enough help, I also applied for and received multiple loans from the school. When I needed more help they were able to offer me a work study position.

3 College Senior

Diversity: Delaware does tend to be slightly homogenous with the population of students. But it is an accepting campus for the most part.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I've enjoyed all of the events I've attended. It makes me revel in the fact that there are so many people on campus that it's like our own city. I love large crowds so UD definitely offered this. I would choose my school again because of the same reasons I had out of high school: it was the perfect opportunity to pursue my career interest while being close enough to home but far away enough that I'd be able to start all over, somewhere different with all new people. I wanted that independence and a new start.

Campus Quality: A student that wants to be involved has lots of choices in both their living community and campus wide. There are always events to attend and clubs looking for members as we have over 300 registered student organizations.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: They are fantastic. They are very spacious with central air.

5 College Sophomore

Transportation: Our campus shuttle is free and runs every day of the week. The Newark city transportation runs through campus. And also, everything is about 15 minutes or less walk from central campus.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: It's not quite New England, which is what I'm used to, but there is still hot summers and very cold winters with an occasional snowfall. Nothing but that northeast weather charm.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: The workload is usually decent for the classes. One just had to make sure to study. Engineering is a big focus at my school so they have a lot of great engineering and math courses. And we're number 2 for PT in the nation.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: We have a lot of really great professors who are always available to help us. In addition to many tutoring sessions made available by the university and the individual colleges.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: It's great because we have 11 varsity men's and women's teams and a ton of intramural teams.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Not into the night life myself but I've seen and heard that it's quite good.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: It's good. I filed the FAFSA and got a decent amount of aid.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
