Campus Quality: There is always something going on on UD's campus. I love that something is always being offered for students to do. Sports are really big at Delaware, but there is also a really great social scene outside of school sponsored events as well! There are always people out and about taking advantage of our gorgeous location, and it makes for a really great atmosphere!

Campus Housing: The campus is very large for a mid-sized public university. Living on campus as a freshman was OK when I was a freshman but the ones entering now have much better options as a few new dorms were just built and a new dining hall is under construction. The reason it was only OK is because most of the freshman dorms are outdated. Now however, they are starting to look a lot better. I really like the style of the new dorms they have built which are much like hotels with nice views. Ease of getting to classes all depends on which major you are and which dorm you live in on campus. If you're lucky your trip won't be far. The location of the major dorms are like a compass for the most part. They are placed on the north, east and west sides of campus. Sometimes it is a walk to get to class but the campus allows bikes and has a free shuttle, so that is a plus.

Diversity: While I will not say that my campus is not diverse, it could always be better. Just looking around in each of my classes and around campus one would notice that there are mostly white students and mostly female white students. However, there are many international students that I know are on campus that I don't often see. The majority of the international students are there for the English as a Second Language program (ESL). Economically, the campus community is very diverse. Many students have some type of financial aid or are working while many others come from well-off families who can afford to pay for most or all of their child's education. There are many in-state as well as out-of-state students. Sexually, the campus is accepting and there are groups that offer inclusion and a safe haven for those in the LGBTQ community.

Athletics: The biggest draw for athletics at my school revolves around the football team which is usually very good and has seen some players make it to the NFL including former Super Bowl champion and quarterback Joe Flacco. Most of the other buzz for athletics is for the mens' and womens' basketball teams which are doing very well, although they weren't always that way. Elena Delle Donne was recently drafted to the WNBA from my school and I think it's pretty awesome that I had the chance to see her play several times while I was in the pep band as well as sit next to her in one of my past classes. In all, the athletics and school spirit are mostly focused around football and basketball.

Health & Safety: The healthcare center I have been told is mediocre

4 College Freshman

Athletics: The gyms are really nice and the intermurals are very fun

2 College Freshman

Weather: It can change by 20 degrees in an hour. It's completely unpredictable and surprisingly cold in the winter.

3 College Freshman

Administration: Their overly strict about parking and noise.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: I have a lot of different friends who are of different ethnicity and viewpoints.

Off-Campus Dining: Main Street runs right through the campus and it has a lot of different kinds of restaurants

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: It's pretty good, there are a lot of different places to go

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: The guys that are in fraternities are very laid back and cool but the sorority girls are very cocky, fake and judgmental.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: There are a good amount of scholarships at the school but there could be more.

2 College Sophomore

Diversity: UD has a history of racism and unfortunately some of that past is still evident.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: Somewhere between good and okay can't distinguish between the two.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: All in all, the school isn't terrible with parking it could be a lot better though.

Off-Campus Dining: With main street right there, there are lots of restaurants available to try. I think it would take the whole year to try them all! There are many restaurants and most of them are different from each other. For example, there is a Panera Bread, next to a Chipotle, next to a pizza restaurant, across the street from a burger restaurant. There are tons of different things to try. I wish that the restaurants did offer student discounts though, just since they are practically located on a college campus and know that that is where most of their business comes from.

Technology: I cannot talk about the computer labs because I have my own computer and never need to use one. I wouldn't know where to go if I did need to use one though. All of the technology, especially in the newer buildings, is exceptional. There is wifi most places on campus, and it is pretty fast as well. At the beginning of each semester, they allow you $5 of free printing, so it is definitely important to utilize that.

Weather: The winter this year was very rough. It snowed a lot and was very cold. It was no fun to walk to classes during those days (especially those that were a far walk from the dorm), but you have no choice. As long as you have rain boots and an umbrella, the walk to class those days is bearable. On nice, warm, sunny days, the walk to class is magnificent. I don't want to get to class because it is so nice outside!

Academics: My classes here at the University of Delaware are excellent. All of my professors so far have been incredibly nice and understanding. They definitely do not live up to the stereotypical college professor belief. My classes are also super interesting. I love all of the classes that I am taking! Depending on the classes that you take depends on the workload. If you take chemistry and biology, the work load is much heavier than taking psychology or simple math classes. There are an abundance of awesome study spaces from studying on the green on a nice day, to reserving a study room in the library, to studying in the ISE lab (with Einstein Bagels of course)

Transportation: At the University of Delaware, there are campus shuttles that pretty much take you anywhere on campus you would want/need to go. They are very convenient and easy to use. Using public buses is a little more complicated and expensive. The prices are definitely not expensive, they just are not free. The buses do not run as frequently as campus shuttles, but are definitely there to use in case you want to go to the mall or a store that is not on campus. There are public buses that can take you to the nearest Amtrak station in order to travel further destinations. There is also a Megabus stop on campus that can take you to major cities such as Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, Richmond, and Washington DC

Majors: I switched majors from Exercise Science to Cognitive Science. I LOVE my Cognitive Science major, and have even added another major-Psychology. After college, I want to be a child psychologist. It will be tricky applying at being accepted to graduate schools, but I know that coming from the University of Delaware, it will not be as hard. I believe University of Delaware is a well known school with great students.

Majors: For my degree, it was not difficult to get into at all. I just had to fill out an online form and wait for it to be approved by the registrar and other advisers. To get into this school in general, it is necessary to take rigorous classes in high school and prove that you can handle your academic load as well as extracurricular activities. They are looking for well rounded students.

Campus Housing: My dorm may be one of the oldest and the smallest, but it is definitely the most social. I have made many new friends this year, just on my floor! I am excited for years to come, when I will live in dorms that may be a little newer and closer to everything! Living on campus at the University of Delaware is one of the best college decisions I have made thus far.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I do not have many tips, other than to tell the truth. At the University of Delaware, not much financial aid is given. I am a first generation college student who is trying to put herself through college, and I hardly received any money at all.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
