4 College Sophomore

Athletics: There are a lot of intramural sports, and a lot of teams. There's games that you wouldn't normally expect to see, like broom ball. Football and basketball are well-advertised but that's really it. I know almost nothing about our hockey or soccer teams.

Off-Campus Housing: There's a lot of it, but lot of it is very very expensive. There is a pretty good variety though, of townhouses apartments and houses.

2 College Sophomore

Administration: Certain things are ignored on certain occasions. When it comes to St. Patrick's day weekend, there's almost no enforcement on the underage drinking and partying. However, on normal weekends it feels like a party could get broken up within ten minutes of starting.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Men's Track & Field was cut due to Title Lie, I mean Nine. That is the biggest issue with UD Athletics.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Housing isn't bad they could be closer to classes in most cases. Unless you live on the Green you need to leave somewhat early to be on time to class. Fortunately, the campus is relatively small.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: There's a lot of majors here at UD, can't go wrong with most.

College Sophomore

Majors: I found an internship as a result of getting involved with an RSO. Can't speak on local internships, heard they are hard to find however. You'll need one for your Discovery Learning Experience (DLE) Credit.

Greek Life: Most Greeks are annoying, they are either men (Frats) who only let girls into their parties. Or girls who are not in touch with the world or plight of others. Not very much diversity either, come on UD!

3 College Sophomore

Weather: For the most part the weather is good but sometimes it's pretty bad with rain. About average however for this area sometimes unpredictable though.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: It could be better, a lot of the places are expensive yet their actual quality is pretty low. Too many places were put together to look nice rather than to last.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: The restaurants could be closer to campus but that's part of being off campus.

4 College Student

Guys & Girls: The frat boys are very preppy and there are a lot of preppy people here especially in greek life. There at 16000 undergrads so basically theres a little bit of everything.

2 College Student

Parking: Parking is a hassle but having a car is completely not necessary. If you are living off campus though it will be nice to know someone with a car so they can take you grocery shopping otherwise it can be a bit of a hassle.

4 College Student

Campus Quality: Buildings are nice here. I love the renovated little bob (gym)

5 College Student

Campus Quality: Campus is very easy to feel like you are at home and there are no shortage of people walking around with you.

4 College Student

Off-Campus Housing: It was stressful trying to figure out where to live at first but once the lease was signed it was completely worth it.

4 College Student

Academics: Most of our professors have above a 3.0 on rate my professor and it is pretty easy to get good professors if you pay attention when registering for classes.

5 College Student

Overall Experience: I honestly love my experience at UD and almost everyone I know here loves it just as much as I do. We have an awesome study abroad program and are just the best in general.

3 College Student

Campus Food: The dining halls aren't terrible for freshman year but I was so happy to be done with the dining halls when I moved off campus. Trabant and Perkins are pretty convenient. The POD is overpriced.

5 College Student

Majors: I am happy with my program and the way my experience has worked out has reinforced my decision to attend UD.

5 College Student

Majors: Political Science isn't a competitive major so as long as you have above a 2.0 gpa you can just switch your major online.

4 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: Don't order DP dough because its gross. Most places on main street will deliver until 2 am which is pretty cool. There is not shortage of delivery options.

4 College Student

Weather: Weather changes no matter where you live. the summer starts two weeks earlier here than in long island which is nice.

3 College Student

Scholarships: Delaware doesn't give many scholarships unless you really need them. I received 9000 a year need based and that is more than I here from most of my friends.

5 College Student

Party Scene: Bars on main street are the best. Frat parties are fun for freshman year but by sophomore year you would rather just go to smaller parties with people you actually know rather than sit in a sweaty frat basement while you watch strongers make out against a wall.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
