Academics: Registration processes are a hassle, most of the administrators are incompetent, and trying to meet with an academic advisor is laughable; it'd be easier for students to be matched up with a senior who can help them who know what they're doing.

Scholarships: The Financial Aid people are a hassle to work with, rude to people who are independent students and need financial aid, a hassle to get everything through, and they purposefully leave out information so that you'll not get your aid on time. They try to force the poor kids out so that we can't get an education. They barely show us any scholarship options and although I have been attempting to get scholarships since I was admitted in 2007, I have never received any.

Diversity: There's a lot of white people, despite the claim about "diversity." Most of the international students are from Asian countries (mostly China and Korea.) Most of the kids here are white, cis, straight, but we have a surprising amount of left-wing people, which is nice. As a mixed person who is also trans, pansexual, and pagan, I'm pretty much a minority here.

Overall Experience: Most of the teachers I've had are pretty amazing and help you when you need it. There's some pretty bad eggs, but otherwise there's a decent variety of types of classes a person can take to finish school here.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: There's a decent amount of internships available, but the job market is bad for anyone at the moment, regardless of degree.

Party Scene: I'm not really into night life but if I was, all the bars close at 1am and I wouldn't really call that "night life"

3 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Most of the people here are spoiled kids who have mommy and daddy pay for everything, so I really don't have anything in common with them.

Campus Food: I do not eat on campus.

Academics: The program, education, faculty, and facilities for the sciences here are fantastic. Workload and curriculum are indicative of a solid program, and opportunities for research and internships and career help are very strong.

Academics: The academics here offer a wide range, and nearly all areas are very strong.

4 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: I received funding through my program, with that process going smoothly. Due to scheduling issues largely my fault, I now need to supplement that funding.

4 Recent Alumnus

Campus Quality: The research facilities here are fantastic, with strong programs and faculty as well. It's a nice little college town with a lot of restaurants and shopping and housing, with the strength of a solid research institution.

4 Recent Alumnus

Campus Quality: Facilities for students are very good. Student centers and library are excellent, and a new fitness center is one of the best I've ever seen.

3 Recent Alumnus

Greek Life: Greek life is prevalent, but doesn't seem to dominate social life. I can't really speak to it further from my experience.

4 Recent Alumnus

Diversity: Campus is very diverse in nearly every way. I work with and socialize with people from different countries, of different political opinions, sexual orientations, and economic backgrounds. The diversity of the school is a positive for the school and works very well.

5 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Housing: A great many options for off-campus housing, ranging in price, housing options, proximity to campus. Most locations are very good quality; I have not heard any major complaints about off-campus housing.

4 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: Athletics are important, most people follow the varsity teams, and opportunities for club and intramural activities are good. I would not say that athletics dominates the school.

5 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Dining: There is an excellent set of off-campus dining options. Many varieties spanning cost and cuisine, most with student discounts and convenient access.

4 Recent Alumnus

Guys & Girls: The student body here is a very attractive one on the whole. The party scene and social life is thriving and pretty important to many. However, a large part of the students (male and female) are very driven academically, with clear career goals.

Majors: The biology program here is very strong, and offers a wide range of very good quality training and education. It prepares you well for whatever direction you wish to take your education and career.

4 Recent Alumnus

Majors: The process of applying for this program was seamless with very few challenges. While transcript and grades were important, relevant work and research experience and other involvement seemed to play a primary role in the evaluation of applicants.

Academics: I am a chemistry major. UD has one of the best programs. I am so proud to be apart of it. The Fauclty is filled with some the brightest most caring people. The workload is steady but doable. Everyone is rooting for you and youearn things you wouldn't learn anywhere else. If you are thinking a out chemistry consider UD.

Academics: Some subjects are better than others. Undeniable science programs especially chemsitry. I haven't run across a bad prof. This is a gem of a school. I couldnt be happier.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: The campus is full of people from different walks of life. Everyone one is very accepting. We have drag shows and multicultural events. Difference are cebrated.

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
