Overall Experience: University of Delaware is a wonderful school but I've had a lot of difficulty with advisors the past two years and my schedule being messed up because of mistakes they made that were out of my control.

Overall Experience: I believe that my experience at school could be much better if got involved more. Either that, or this school is not the right fit for me.

Overall Experience: The curriculum for a chemical engineering major is definitely challenging but I love the social atmosphere and the perfect size campus that allows you to get to class without relying on bus systems. I wish I went further south because I don't like snow in the winter but I still love the beautiful campus with it's old college look.

Overall Experience: Best year of my life

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: University of Delaware is a great college - it is equal in prestige and academics to University of Maryland (College Park). However, it is true that the university is stingy with scholarships, especially towards out-of-state and international students, which are the students who frankly need them the most. $40,000 a year (out-of-state) is a staggering amount to pay per year.

Overall Experience: Very academically tough yet, has a social atmosphere

Overall Experience: University of Delaware is a great school and has a very nice home feeling. Delaware has always been my dream school since I was very young. I love the open campus and all the activities that I can do on and off campus. They offer so many clubs, and sports it is almost hard to not participate in at least one activity.

Overall Experience: Delaware is a good academic choice with tons of activities, wish it was a little less expensive though! Very stingy with financial aid.

Overall Experience: I absolutely love University of Delaware! I have amazing friends, I became a resident assistant and love my job, and I am now in a fantastic new major that has me more determined than ever. The campus is beautiful, and everything I need is close by.

Off-Campus Housing: It's a challenge and a risk. But more affordable than the options on campus.

Party Scene: A sea of drunk greek life spills onto the streets pretty much every night. We are known as a party school and it shows when you walk on main street. Drunks everywhere anytime. If you like sexual harassment come to UD.

Campus Food: It depends on what's being served. Hit or miss at every meal.

Scholarships: It feels like a lottery sometimes. I also had to repeatedly check to make sure they didn't mess up or forget to continue my scholarships. All the online forms are awful.

Campus Housing: Get the newer dorms. Beware the bugs and sexual assault.

View student contributors

By the end of their years here, most students look back and are happy with their choice. They've received a good education and generally met some people with whom they will keep in touch for many years in "real" life. This love of the school comes about gradually for many students. While some students love it automatically and fit in easily with the relatively homogenous campus, others take longer to find their place and truly start to enjoy themselves.

While many students have a slow start here at Delaware, they all report that once they decided to give it a chance, they found their experience rewarding both academically and socially. This University tends to provide a nice balance between a social life and an academic one. There is always plenty of time to hang out and get your work done, so no matter what you are interested in, you have a chance to get it all done. This is the major benefit of attending the University of Delaware.
