5 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: With so many people on campus, there are guys in every niche. Geeky guys, sporty guys, nerdy guys, gamer guys, religious guys; you name 'em, UConn's got 'em.

Guys & Girls: Frat guys are attractive but assholes. Most other guys can't go out because they don't get into frat parties, unless you're an athlete...then you're like royalty.

Guys & Girls: Preppy looks for both females and males

Guys & Girls: Not my type of people. There is no diversity of thought at all - arts and culture are extremely under appreciated and almost everyone is just very basic and shallow. There are only a few common interests: drinking, partying and Tinder. Vineyard Vines seems pretty popular amongst Connecticut natives. Social life seems very superficial and I just really feel like I am in the wrong place. I'm sure there are some awesome people somewhere at UConn but I have yet to meet any of them.

UConn is an active campus. Students are spotted outdoors jogging or hitting the gym, and there are tons of club sports to get involved with, as well. People work hard to look good, and it shows when the weekend comes. Girls like to get dressed up to go out to parties or the bar. You'll see a lot of them wearing high heels—a big mistake when you have to walk everywhere, though.

Most people are friendly, too. It's not unusual to hear crowds yell the UConn Huskies chant while walking to a party or to end up in an apartment where you know no one, but leave with a couple of new contacts in your phone. It's easy to meet people—just get out of your dorm room!

Hookups or Relationships?
While you may see a lot of hooking up at weekend parties, you will still see a fair number of couples holding hands on the walk to class. Some party scenes seem to be focused on the hookup lifestyle, but a lot of individuals are in long-term relationships, too. They seem to be balanced.
Dress Code
Many students have a preppy look, but a lot of the time you'll see people in sweatpants and UConn T-shirts. In the winter, everyone seems to wear North Face jackets and fleeces, and girls wear Ugg boots; this has been informally dubbed the "UConn uniform." Jeans and a T-shirt will always suffice. It all depends on how early you want to wake up to get ready.
