Most students at the University of Cincinnati have their own computers. Some bring their laptops to class, while others have computers in their dorm rooms. Whatever you bring, it is probably best to bring your own, if you can. Despite the fact that the campus has quite a few large computer labs, they can get crowded, especially at the end of the quarter when final papers and projects are due. The computer labs also tend to be more crowded during the day as students are finishing up assignments and checking email between classes. With your own computer, you can connect to the UC network and surf the Web from anywhere.

If you can't bring your own computer, don't worry. Just try to find a time when the labs aren't crowded or find one that tends to have less student traffic. The library generally has open computers, and with a 24-hour lab, you're more likely to find a computer there than in a smaller lab on campus. If you use the computers at school, or even if you have your own, it will be extremely helpful to purchase a portable flash drive. These are relatively cheap and are a very easy way to keep your papers, projects, and other files with you at all times. With a flash drive you can easily pull up files on any computer. Some professors actually require them, so it may be best to buy one early and learn how to use it.
