Drug Safety

{{ error }}
3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Many students will talk about their hangovers while in class, and some students come to class drunk and high (not often). I know of a few students who smoke pot before and after class, but for the most part, the drug scene is pretty low.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Lots of people do drugs and drink, but it's not rampant or overly public. There isn't a crazy drunk dude or the tweaker by the lake. It's mostly at parties which are usually just in the neighborhoods.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Students have the choice to partake in whatever they would like to partake in whether that is going to parties or not nobody really keeps tabs on who goes and who doesn't.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: I have friends that are of age to drink, but do it off campus. UCO has a no tolerance policy and it is strictly enforced. I have never felt any pressure to drink or do drugs, although I know some students do choose to partake. I would not classify UCO as a "party school."

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: I can't really say since i go to school and go straight to work afterwards so i cant really say. But I've heard people talk about smoking marijuana and to study for finals they take the study drugs.

College life is not without experimentation for some students, but alcohol and drug use are strictly prohibited, and regulations are harshly enforced on campus. The consequences of violating these regulations vary from student probation to possible expulsion. It is not widely known who or where students may participate in these activities, but the UCO does its best to prevent, penalize, and bring awareness to both underage drinking and substance abuse on campus.

Fortunately for those who may be dealing with issues of substance abuse, UCO's alcohol and drug prevention organization is located in the Nigh University Center. For students who are aware of drug activity, it is a very underground topic that most may not discuss since the majority of students are not involved in this sort of activity. The general population on campus focuses on academics, and may or may not be aware of what goes on behind their peers' doors or in the community in relation to drugs.
