Academics: The criminal justice department could use some work. There aren't many internships available and not very much interactive learning. The workload is probably similar to any other major, but the curriculum can be dense and repetitive. In my classes so far there hasn't been any interactive learning, so its mainly a lot of memorizing.

3 College Senior

Local Area: The university has an overall decent atmosphere. There isn't much natural beauty in the area, but there are many theme parks, malls, and so on. The school has many events that pertain to the students' interests, such as concerts, stand up comedy events, bar events and competitions, and so on.

Majors: Sense of Community – Since I attend a regional campus many of the students are on the same track to graduate and there are not very many of us. This allows us to get to know each other better and to learn to work better as future co-workers and friends. The workload is intense, as I mentioned before, but because of the friendliness of students we all usually work well together in helping each other out. I really enjoy my program and all the students in it. Due to the relatively small number of current students, this allows for each of us to better receive help and support from our professors which is also nice. All these things help us students establish our own sense of a community within our program of study.

Academics: I am fortunate enough that I do not have to commute to the main campus in Orlando. My entire program, Elementary Education, is offered at this regional campus. While the work load is rather intense, the grading is fair and the overall subject matter and quality of the curriculum is excellent. The teachers are willing to work one-on-one with students and are usually always available for questions, comments, or concerns from students. All the courses offered for my program are offered in the same building, which also makes this convenient for students.

Academics: Interdisciplinary Studies – I love my major. While it was a hassle to figure out what I wanted to do and HOW to do it, the advisers for IS are AMAZING and have helped a lot with any and all questions I've had along the way. The program can be tailored to what you want to do when you graduate- I want to do Scientific/Technical Illustration so my areas are Art, Technical Communication, and Environmental Studies. It's a great program, and while some of the classes are a bit unnecessary (as with most degrees), I am able to pick and choose more than some other more rigid disciplines.

Local Area: Cocoa, FL – I attend a regional campus for the University of Central Florida. The area in which this campus is located is considered an low-socioeconomic area. There is a high number of violence and drugs. One of the elementary schools in this city is considered the poorest school in the county. Over 90% of the students are on free and reduced lunch. There is a Walmart, Publix, Little Ceasers and other small diners. There are not many attractions in this area, unless a bar is considered an attraction. The safety is extremely poor. At the college campus, however, there is a brighter, safer, and overall more positive atmosphere because the people who attend this campus are trying to better themselves by going to school and getting some sort of a degree.

Local Area: The Area – The area around the school is in rapid growth with lots of new apartments going up that are very expensive compared to the apartments that have been around for awhile. The shuttles for the school that go to many local apartments are a great way to travel. There are a lot of wooded areas around and even some decent parks though you never get the feeling of being out of the city.

3 College Senior

Majors: Biomedical Science – Although I am happy about my degree, I would not do it over again. The professors in the college of medicine are all foreign, and very difficult to understand. The classes were huge, and thus did not make a good environment for learning.

3 College Senior

Majors: I love the subject that I am studying, but I wish that the teachers would offer more guidance in class about possible career paths, or how we could use the information given to us. I also feel that other Florida institutions have better anthropology programs.

3 College Senior

Academics: It is called "U Can't Finish" for a reason. Class availability is poor, and class size is huge. Professors are not able to give much individual attention to students. They are not bad professors though, just overworked.

4 College Senior

Local Area: UCF Orlando offers not only many different tourist attractions, such as theme parks (Sea World, Disney, Wet n Wild, The Florida Mall, etc), but also local dining areas and music outlets. Many places downtown have varying types of bands, anywhere from heavy rock to acoustic sets as well as hip-hop. Orlando is very fast paced as opposed to Cocoa. Cocoa's atmosphere is not nearly as exciting.

5 College Senior

Majors: Perfect Spot to Pursue This Career – Growing up working in the field all my life, I knew this was the only path I was comfortable in. The only downside is that I began college right at the beginning of the economy collapse so tourism crashed. With Orlando been one of the premier spots for tourism, it will one the first cities to recover when the economy recovers.

3 College Senior

Majors: Could be a little more helpful with guidance the first few years. Would definitely be more organized with classes if I could do it over again. Hospitality program is awesome, professors are from the real world so they have lots of knowledge. No concerns about finding job in the field, great education!

4 College Senior

Academics: Pretty Smooth Sailing – UCF has been a relatively easy school to attend. All the classes that I have taken so far are great, and there is always an interesting class out there. Registration is simply... although sometimes you have to act fast before a seat is taken.

2 College Senior

Local Area: Dull but Fragrent – The city has a lot to offer but all your classmates will ever be interested in is the garage sale grungy styled night life

3 College Senior

Local Area: The city has a lot of fun atractions, but anything worth doing is about 30 minutes away from campus. Shopping, attractions, and the really nice restaurants are all by downtown, or downtown disney. Night life is decent, but everything closes at 2:00am.

4 College Senior

Academics: A lot to choose from, knowledgeable professors, helpful counselors

4 College Senior

Local Area: Always Something to Do! Orlando has everything. You will never be bored living in or near Orlando. Tons of theme parks and other attractions.

4 College Senior

Local Area: Not Just a Tourist Destination – Many things to do, Disney World, Universal. Good nightlife in Downtown Orlando. You have also plenty of things over in International Drive with Wonderworks, Dave & Buster's, and many restaurants.

3 College Junior

Academics: Aerospace Engineering – The workload is reasonable for the program. Internships are competitive, but there is also an option to get into research with some professors.

5 College Junior

Local Area: Universal Studios, Disney World, Wet 'N Wild, Seaworld, Aquatica, and much more are located within and hours drive from campus. SGA even offers discounted tickets to many of the attractions.

4 College Junior

Academics: All of my classes that I have signed up for this semester have been made available for me online. Since I live an hour away from UCF, this takes a huge load off of my stress level. Workload is a bit heavy because it is online, but you can do it any time you want to. It has been very convenient for me.

5 College Junior

Local Area: UCF, has an abundance of surronding activities from theme parks, to old-time attractions, and from tourist-attracing malls to the night hot spots. UCF has nearby shopping outlets with a large variety including New York Pizza, a delicious Puerto Rican restaurant called, "El Coqui" and, and amazing Sushi Bar. Many UCF students are interested in sports as well, there are many KNIGHTS fans all around town, excited for football season. Everyone in Orlando is cool, smart, creative, and friendly. Whenever I go to UCF I always make sure to stop somewhere new and fun and I am never let down.

3 College Junior

Majors: Its very hard to get into Nursing. Thousands of people apply a year and only 120 are accepted at the Orlando campus. The application process is easy, one application and that is it. The acceptance is rough. Transfer students usually aren't considered, GPA has to be above a 3.2, all requirements are needed, no arrest within 5 years. Once accepted, you have a whole summers worth of things to do including background checks, forms, drug test, shots, orientations, etc.

4 College Junior

Academics: The Nursing program is amazing. Only 120 people get selected a year. The program is hard to get in to. But it is well worth it. You do your clinicals at many different hospitals and very well known ones. The technology is very expensive and updated. I love the nursing program here.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
