5 College Senior

Party Scene: A Lot to Do. There's a ton of bars in the area around the school. The downtown area is really nice and has a lot of bars and clubs. There's always something to do.

5 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Lots of Options – Most of the places you go will offer some sort of student discount. There's a ton of options close to campus including Italian, Mexican, Japanese,Chinese, Buffets, American,Vegan, etc.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I received quite a bit of financial aid through bright futures and my University, but with the cost of tuition going up, I owe more and more money every semester. I only had one mishap with the financial aid office in which they neglected to accept one of my scholarships.

2 College Sophomore

Parking: Parking on campus is ridiculous unless you have morning classes. Anytime after 10:30 a.m. be prepared to wait for a spot or go to other garages in order to find something. Permit costs aren't too bad, but they should at least have enought parking if they are requiring us to pay a fee to park.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: There are so many different kinds of people at UCF. You have the typical platinum blonde, sorority girls and the buff, tan, fraternity guys. Then, you have the normal group of people as to which I belong. For the most part, there is plenty of diversity!

3 College Freshman

Parking: Crowded All the Time – Unless you have a special permit, finding parking is a pain.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: A Little Overpriced – There are plenty of options in Orlando but they all seem to be more expensive than those of other schools like FSU. My friends and I are looking for a place for next semester and we think we have narrowed it down.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: No Fear – I feel safe at all times while on campus. There are cops all over the place waiting to help and emergency call boxes in case you don't have a phone.

3 College Junior

Academics: Starting my junior semester I have found that the work required is equal to any community college there is just more of it. As can be expected the main difference is that the support staff, places like registration and financial aid are less helpful than you would find at a smaller school. Decisions are made without the school notifying you. There are no emails making you aware of the changes and if one of your classes is dropped as a result of the change the school bares no responsibility. The reason for this is that there is an expectation that you keep up on all topics.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: The financial aid process at my school was very helpful. The counslers were very friendly and took care of me in ample time.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Campus Community – The students at my campus are fairly diverse not only in ethnicity, but in personality and looks as well. Everybody brings thier own flavor to campus life and the diversity is refreshing.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: The off-campus housing is pretty basic. Has the basic anemeties, and very convenient shuttles to campus.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: You'll Love It! This is an incredible school with an insane amount of resources and activities available to the students. Professors are generally good and proficient in their fields.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Beautiful, Modern Campus – This campus is in a very college-town like environment despite being in a very large city. The campus itself is quite beautiful and modern, and is constantly expanding and updating its buildings.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: Transportation for me is wonderful. Depending on what time of day I'm transporting, traffic could be congested. But cost is great and the location is extremely convenient. Buses, free shuttles, and rentals are provided as well.

4 College Sophomore

Parking: The school offers numerous parking ooptions for students. They are continuously building new parking garages and provide many free, convenient shuttles. The only down-side to the parking is that student decals are $90 a year.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: As far as my invlovement at the school, I have never been offered, exposed to, or know anyone involved in the drug scene.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: I Like It. I like the weather, although it can be a bit unpredictable. The only times classes are canceled are for holidays and for severe weather problems, like storms. I think the weather actually enhances the college experience because it makes the campus look pretty.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: UCF has a good transportation system. They offer shuttle rides to people who live within a 25 mile radius. The cost isn't too bad. The only thing is, since I drive, it takes me 40 minutes to get there. The cost isn't too bad either. There are also the Linx buses students can take if they live really far. But other than the distance, I would say transportation is good.

4 College Sophomore

Technology: UCF offers alot of computers at the student's disposal. There is a computer lab in, I would say, 95% of the buildings. The library also has computers on every floor. The speed is good although it could be better. The printing rates are fair enough, 10 cents per page. UCF also offers an area called Knights Study where students can print for free and study there but can sometimes get crowded.I also think the network is reliable enough but sometimes it can get very slow. Alot of people carry their own computer or tablet, but I think that you don't have to because there are plenty of computers available.

5 College Junior

Weather: Being in Central Florida supplies each and everyone of us with excellent weather. Rain is a little more common come spring, but most of the time we have 80-85 degree weather.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: Up in Smoke – Drugs at UCF are not a huge problem. Alcohol is present depending on who you are with. Marijuana and shrooms are the other drugs that are being used the most.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: Safety Seems Decent – UCF seems to take care of safety measures quite well. There is a UCF police station on campus. Located around campus are push button posts that call campus workers to your location in case of emergency. Students can also sign up on the school's email list. This list will send out email's if a crime or something like that comes up.

3 College Junior

Campus Quality: Goes Round and Round – The circular campus does a lot to make you feel like you're immersed in the world of college where ever you are on campus. There's always something happening at the student union and the numerous study areas spread around campus means that you'll always be able to find a spot to study and will often run into your friends anywhere on campus. Get into Greek Life and be involved with your Student Organizations and you'll have a great time at UCF, just remember to study.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: Unfortunately, the UCF administration is NOT Greek friendly. While the greek community as expanded in recent years, it has done so in the face of constant adversity driven primarily from a hostile administration which refuses to represent these students in a fair environment. Besides this, the Greek life is thriving and it maintains the close knit community that Greek Life is normally associated with. It's always great to sit next to a person on a random flight to Chicago and be able to talk about Greek Life.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
