Greek Life: Greeks Are Around – There are plenty of greek organizations but they definitely do not dominate the scene. And there are likely far more non greeks than greeks. They have some really nice houses on campus though.

Technology: Computer Labs – There are several computer labs on campus, and some dedicated for free printing only. The only reason for the low grade is that there is almost always a wait to use a computer in any of the printing labs. There are ample softwares and up to date computers available for use. They even have several macs for use as well. Students have access to one of the best research databases also.

Overall Experience: Wouldn't Want to Be Anywhere Else – I've visited other schools (University of Florida, University of Miami, Florida State University, etc) and honestly, nothing is comparable to the University of Central Florida. This school is in the center of everything! There's so much to do both on and off-campus, and there's so many clubs you can join. The environment is great. I see UCF as a very modern school that is going to keep on progressing and growing as time goes by. Trust me when I say I am in the right place.

Guys & Girls: Range of Possibilities – There's no one type of guy or girl at the University of Central Florida. You'll find people from all around the world here with backgrounds that might surprise you, or even some you can relate to. It won't be difficult in finding your niche here.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are plenty of off-campus dinning options near the University of Central Florida. Some are walking distance, and others can be reached by transportation provided by the university. One of the locations UCF transportation goes to is Waterford Lakes. There's a ton of affordable restaurants there for the everyday student.

Majors: Instructors Who Care – I am a psychology major, and I have noticed that many of my instructors genuinely care about their students fututres. Most of them offer a lot of ineraction outside of class, wether it be extra office hours or career advice. Many of the instructors at UCF are working on important things outside of the classroom and would be great references for later in life!

Athletics: Great School Spirit – Football is a favorite American pass time - and the school spirit here at UCF is excellent! Black and gold is everywhere, even all over town. The local McDonalds even represents UCF with a Knight staue and black and gold decor! The teams here are diverse and the facilities are beautiful.

Local Area: Never Boring – Living in a big city like Orlando is always beneficial. After class you can enjoy lunch at one of the many restaraunts near by, or even one of the many on campus. Weekends can easily be planned with parties on campus (like Late Knights) or dancing at a local club. Leisure activities are also plentiful, with parks and recreational areas all around town.

Off-Campus Dining: Waterford Lakes Has Everything – There are so many options for food in the area right off of campus, and they are all good choices. Waterford Lakes is a large shopping plaza that's very clean and attractive. It has so many dining options for all moods, occasions, and meal times. You can never go wrong at Waterford.

Campus Food: Endless Options – Eating on campus is never exactly a dreadful experience. I don't have a meal plan, and so never eat at the dining halls, though they always smell really inviting when I go past. The student union in the center of campus is where you want to go for the real food. They have everything to offer from a coffee shop or smoothies, to sandwiches, asian cuisine, burger and fries, to a salad bar. There's even a lounge/bar restaurant. The best options are either Q'doba or the Pita Stop. I'm a vegan, and these places are vegan-friendly and absolutely the most delicious food to get if you want to eat out. Basically, if I were to go out for dinner and I did not live near the student union, the restaurants I would be most likely to go to are the ones that the student union offers. I love campus dining.

Local Area: Making Orlando Your Own – Coming to live in Orlando for school presented a considerable change in atmosphere for me, coming from a beach-side town. There's a lot more concrete, and the bustle may seem overwhelming, but there are so many different lifestyles to lead here; you'll always find people with common interests that match yours, no matter what they may be. Sports, arts, politics, you name it. The city in the college area has a great, open atmosphere, however, the downtown area has great nightlife, live theaters, concerts, events (and that's not to mention the countless number of theme parks and various attractions within the vicinity). Adjusting may be difficult, but you'll never run out of things to do or places to be. Just make sure you stop by Goodfella's pizza when you're in town; it's the best around.

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: Drugs Are Bad, Mmkay. While we do have NORML on campus, most students don't publicly take part in drugs. Most people that I've encountered that do drugs on campus, use them very infrequently.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Closer to campus, there is a healthy variety. As you expand further away from campus, you'll find an even more varied list to choose from. I'm a vegetarian and there are several places in Orlando that can accommodate my diet. If you're stuck close to campus though, the majority of the variety is fast food.

2 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Eating on campus is expensive and the selection is not great.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: Security on campus is good. The alert system keeps you informed and you always see security around campus patrolling.

Parking: I personally didn't have a car while attending, however students often complained about the lack of parking. UCF is the 2nd highest populated university in the country so that means there's far more students than parking. They have continually built parking decks to alleviate parking issues however. They also have shuttle bus to take students from surrounding housing to campus and back each day. Visitor parking was also an issue.

Academics: Curriculum Will Prepare You Well for Any Future Goals – After graduating, I've come to find that UCF's microbiology department prepared me well for all of my future goals. As a pre-medical student, the curriculum kept me on course to not only meet but exceed medical school requirements. I also liked that they had a wide array of electives which allowed me to customize my coursework towards medical science or research. The university has several research opportunities for those interested and a department designated to advise students on how to enter medical school. There's also dozens of special interest organizations like AMSA, MAPS, a couple of pre-medical student fraternities to join. Having trouble in classes or need extra help to earn your A? No problem! UCF offers Supplemental Intstruction sessions, free tutors and TAs that are there to help you master your course materials.

4 Recent Alumnus

Guys & Girls: There's a Diverse Pool of People – There's all types of students at UCF. You'll find people from all races, different age groups and all with different interests. The school offers an array of activities to suit every interest from a wide choice of dining options, recreational activities, campus and sporting events.

4 College Freshman

Weather: It only rains during season. It didn't get cold this year for us really feel winter.

3 College Freshman

Administration: Our campus isn't strict. They give us lots of freedom, but the campus still feels safe. We are technically "dry." Which keeps our campus from having destructive parties.

4 College Freshman

Academics: My School – With UCF being so large, any class seems to be offered. There are so many choices of classes and majors. They keep it fair as to underclass man get last choice, but we all have to wait our turn. A huge plus is the amount study abroad and internship opportunities, I am only a sophomore but it seems as if all my upperclassman friends have been involved with one of the other.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Good, for the Most Part – UCF is a good school academically, but it's extremely large and has a really odd system for general education requirements.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Shuttles Are Convienent – I don't really use transportation through the school though I've heard that the shuttles are extremely convenient coming and going every five minutes from off campus housing.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drinking Is Prefered – Drinking is more popular than drugs on and off campus. If you consider Tobacco a drug, hookah is very popular. Many students own their own hookahs. Otherwise drugs are rare unless you know someone you don't really hear about it.

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Library and Athletic Center – The library is great. If you don't know your way around, you might get lost due to size and structure but it has everything one would need. The gym is also amazing. It's huge and has pretty much everything you want including an indoor track, rock wall, courts for basketball, volleyball, dodge ball and pretty much anything else you can think of. Its open for 12 hours almost everyday of the week and let you rent out equipment including jerseys. It's extremely convenient.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
