3 College Senior

Weather: Compared to living in Tallahassee it is not so bad, due to not have as many hills and deep ditches to fall into when it rains.

3 College Senior

Local Area: The saftey is okay. I have heard about a few robberies and shootings recently but it's not as bad as what I hear out side of campus.

2 College Junior

Scholarships: Stay on Top of It – I had a lot of issues when I first transferred to UCF when it came to financial aid. It took a very long time to contact someone and when I did, they had no idea what they were talking about. Finally, I was able to find someone who actually knew the system and could help me. Be sure not to wait until the last minute to make sure everything is ok.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: I have had a great experience at this school. Mostly, this is due to the quality of the professors. Though the classes are large, you can tell that they really care. There is also a lot of school spirit. The only negative is that it can be difficult to get appointments with your major advisor or financial advisor. It can literally take weeks before there is an opening to speak to one of them.

Local Area: Disney Town – UCF is located in Orlando, FL. There are not a lot of things to do for locals besides bars/clubs but, there is Disneyworld, Universal Studios, Seaworld, and alot of other touristy places to go. There's also some of the best shopping.

5 College Junior

Scholarships: Smooth Sailing – I haven't had any problems with financial aid. They have always been very helpful in answering all my questions.

4 College Junior

Technology: Free Printing Labs Not Busy Early in the Morning – The free printing lab are not to busy in the morning right about they open throughout the week. You can print up to 20 pages double sided every day. This is a huge savings on not only ink, but paper too.

College Junior

Scholarships: They Will Work With You. No one should expect hand-outs. That being said, the staff I came in contact with worked to give me the most aid available based off my success.

College Junior

Health & Safety: I've never seen nor experienced any feelings of danger while on campus.

College Junior

Academics: Easy but Varied – Anyone willing to put in the effort should be able to graduate with a 3.0 GPA. The atmosphere is relatively laid back, however the quality of teaching is extremely variable. I've seen a tendency of teachers possessing no prior teaching experience and in some cases a complete lack of ability to speak even broken English.

4 College Junior

Greek Life: Not to Visible – We have a lot of fraternities and sororities, but besides the initial weeks of class and rush week I don't really see them. They have there own area a little bit off of campus.

3 College Junior

Campus Quality: Great Gym – The gym at UCF is great. I love to workout there. The facility is always immaculate and the staff is friendly. The selection of equipment is awesome too. The only problem is that it can get really busy, but I just go in the mornings to avoid that. Also the gym wastes a lot of money on useless things, like finger print scanners. Which comes out of the students pockets.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Great Place to Learn – I have been at UCF for several months and not had any problems. The college is completely safe. The areas around the campus itself has some crime, but I have not had any trouble.

5 College Freshman

Majors: Hospitality: Easy – Getting into any of the three hospitality majors/programs is very easy. There is not separate application process with the main UCF application. There is no interview or portfolio evaluation, and they are lenient on student's GPA's. Admission varies for everyone. As far as tips go, just do your best on the SAT/ACT and try to get a high GPA.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Rosen Campus – The UCF Rosen Campus of Hospitality is a state of the art and unique campus dedicated to hospitality majors. The campus and the adjacent apartments are breathtaking with a Mediterranean styled theme. What makes the Rosen campus unique is the plethora of unique learning environments such as the wine and beer lab and the Disney Dining Room, which gives students hands on experience in their hospitality studies.

Party Scene: Avoid Local Clubs – UCF nightlife is perfect for those who don't want to travel 10 miles downtown to pay a higher cover rate. UCF clubs are most 18 and older. I personally prefer house parties because they are free and the music is more to my liking. Deko, Fubar, and Knight's Library are local favorites in terms of clubs in the area.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Less than a mile from campus, there is a diverse range of local dining favorites. One of the most loved University of Central Florida staples is Greens and Grille. Greens and Grille offers organic, healthy meals at affordable prices. My favorite pizza place off-campus is Lazy Moon. Lazy Moon offers dollar slices that are extremely large. You will definitely get your money's worth!

4 College Freshman

Academics: Never Feel Alone – The University of Central Florida enticed me with their legals studies program. There is always someone able to help you with school, whether it be at the math lab, writing lab, advisor meetings, or at the library.

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: The University of Central Florida encourages students to join a club based on your interest. The school offers over 300 clubs ranging from "The Chocolate Lovers Club" to different honor societies. The University of Central Florida challenges students to create a club, if it has not already been made. To create a club, a student will need to accrue 9 other members. Therefore, the University of Central Florida encourages individuality and creativity alike.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Weekends at the University of Central Florida revolve around sports, whether it be a football, basketball, or a softball game. The University of Central Florida offers an extraordinary extraordinary workout facility. Trainers, nutritionists, psychologists, and academic advisors are always at the aid of students.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Around the University of Central Florida area, one can definitely find an apartment for a reasonable price of about $500 a month. The problem with this are hidden fees. Association fees, move-in fees, utility fees, and many more. Many apartment complexes are trying to attract university students by removing move-in fees before a certain date or giving away two months of free rent. It is fairly easy to locate an apartment near campus, and many even offer free shuttles to and from campus.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I'm a hospitality major and have only had one class for the major thus far but its been wonderful. For my major they like to have teachers that have years of experience in the actual hospitality industry and know first hand what they are teaching. Teachers encourage you to meet with other professionals and even require you to interview industry pros for assignments on occasion.

Administration: Underage Drinking. I do not particularly find the rules and policies of the school to be that ridiculous when it comes to most things such as drinking. The rules are pretty strict since if you are under 21 and alcohol is found in your room even if it is empty you lose housing even if it is a first offense. To some people that may seem harsh but underage drinking is illegal and you are paying thousands of dollars for an education not to party.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: The local weather the majority of the time is pleasant. It does not get too cold during the winter, but when it rains it is somewhat inconvenient when going to and from class.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The off-campus housing is surprisingly very convenient. The most useful system is the buses, they are constantly running and take you to and from campus and your housing.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
