Majors: Interdisciplinary Studies – I am extremely happy with my program, I get to explore the fields of the mind and the body functionality, and if I could do it all over again, I would. The only problem is, with a degree that is relatively new in essence, it can be difficult to choose a career path and be accepted into it. For example, many people are uneducated in this degree and will feel that we are unqualified for some particular field, when in fact, we are able to integrate two disciplines of knowledge to understand and solve problems in the world.

Academics: Self Sufficiency Is the Key to Success – UCF is a giant school. Class sizes are ridiculous, and programs are under-funded. That said, you can be very successful at UCF if you want to be. The faculty (at least in my college of arts and humanities) is very knowledgeable and willing to help students on a one on one basis during office hours or after class. If you show dedication and you make yourself memorable, faculty will start catering to you since you're obviously getting the most out of the curriculum they are trying to fit to hundreds of students.

Majors: The process of enrolling into my degree program of Interdisciplinary Studies was quite easy. After researching it on the website, the main criteria was choosing two focus areas that do not overlap in material, and a minor of your choosing. The only difficulty I experienced, was deciding on what focus areas I wanted, that could be completed while being stationed overseas, and that I found to be interesting and enjoyable. Some tips for the admissions process would be to research your areas and see which fits your goals for your career choice, and ask your advisor any and all questions you have.

Majors: I would like to have an internship, but living overseas on a military base can make this more difficult when compared to the typical college student. My other concern is finding an internship that best fits my major-Interdisciplinary Studies focusing on Behavioral and Social Sciences and Life and Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Health Sciences. Since my area can be describes as broad, I may have to wait until I go to nursing school. I really want to gain experience in my field and as of now, I mainly volunteer in medical settings to help with that.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: As long as you stay on top of your information, financial aid process should go smoothly.

4 College Senior

Administration: Never Been in Trouble – I have never been in trouble at UCF and I dont know anyone who has

3 College Senior

Party Scene: No Time – Between working full time and school full time I really dont have much time to go to the nghtlife scenes, but when I do I always have a fun time.

Health & Safety: Very Safe – I've never really felt unsafe on campus but might be because I am a large man. However there have been a few house and car break ins that I've heard of since I've been enrolled here.

Athletics: UCF has a solid sports program, however with the size of the school and the amount of high school talent in the area we should be much better then we are. Football-wise, I blame George Leary.

Diversity: A Great Mixture – I don't think I've had one class that wasn't extremely diverse. Its nearly impossible to get a group of 5 people together in a class that doesn't involve diversity.

Overall Experience: Love It – I really love the school. The atmosphere is wonderful, the school is affordable, and the overall experience has been everything I could ever ask for out of college and more. Only draw backs for me are the sports teams don't really perform all that well and the number of foreign teachers with accents that made them really hard to understand is disappointing.

Guys & Girls: Girls Are Gorgeous – The girls at UCF are by far the hottest out of all of the Florida colleges.

1 College Freshman

Scholarships: Figure It Out – Financial Aid Counselors are crabby and not helpful, they just say what they have to in order to hang up the phone.

2 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Not in It for the Long Haul – Pretty much the majority of the guys ....... actually all of them have no interest in making you their girlfriend. They may make you think they like you, even tell you they do but they are most likely telling other girls the same thing (from experience). But of you are into just hooking up then , this is the school for you, because that is pretty much what everyone wants at UCF, Good Luck!

Transportation: Here at UCF we have our very own shuttles that will take you to any of the apartments that are within the UCF area so you don't have to worry about how you'll be getting to school if you reside out of campus. Conveniently we also have the Lynx bus that stops right inside the campus in case you need to travel somewhere farther away, and if you're unsure of which bus to take you can check online for their bus routes and anything else you might need to know. UCF also has a special cab service which will be free of cost up to a certain limit in case you need to be picked up late at night.

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: The campus is like a small city on itself! And even if you miraculously get bored of being on campus it is very easy to get around the Orlando area. We have many places to dine within a short distance and there are plenty of places to shop as well. The campus also offers tickets at discounted prices for the movie theater, any of our waterparks, and even Disney and Universal! So you will always have something to do at an affordable price.

Parking: Terrible in the Morning – The parking in the morning is terrible. If you have a 10am class you better get there at least 40 minutes early. You never find parking for that time sometimes even for the 9 am and 9:30 classes it is really hard to find parking. After 2pm parking gets much better and even classes are much easier to get to but still get there early.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Waterford Lakes – UCF has a lot of restaurants. There is many chain restaurants so there aren't many original areas, but new unique places are starting to open. A nice beach themed restaurant Jimmy hulas recently just opened up and its definitely worth a try. Lots of new cheap buffets under $10 for lunch.

4 College Junior

Technology: Labs Are Never That Crowded – At UCF there is sufficient computers for everyone. Although the printing labs where you're allowed to print and use the computers for free may get crowded at times, there are several other locations on campus that allows you to use the computers free of charge, but printing fee. The WIFI is absolutely amazing , if you are using your own computer.

Campus Food: Good but Mostly Chain Restaurants – There is a great variety of choices for eating at the University of Central Florida. However, many of them are chain restaurants such as Burger King, Sbarro, Qdoba, and Subway.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Usage Is Limited – The most popular drug at UCF is definitely alcohol, however I can estimate that less than 20% of all UCF students are partaking in heavy drinking. Peer pressure can be a factor but with 60,000 students it is not hard to find people who wont pressure into drinking.

4 College Senior

Campus Housing: Newer Dorms Are Best – The newer dorms are best, especially the ones behind the gym. They are like an apartment style and really are the best option because there is a little more privacy.

4 College Senior

Weather: The weather in central florida is amazing. The winters are super warm, with it really getting no lower then like 40 degrees and that mabe happens 2 or 3 times the whole winter. The summers are pretty hot but its gorgeous and the beaches are no more then an hour away.

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: Drinking Is the Main Thing – I really havent seen a ton of drug use, i see more of drinking and display of drinking here at UCF then anything.

3 College Senior

Campus Food: Good but Not Like Home – The places to eat and the dining halls really arent that bad. They are good but after awhile become repetitive. The campus has alot of restaurants and such surrounding it so i would suggest not buying a huge meal plan.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
