2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I got the financial aid that I needed, though the office didn't provide that much help when it came to it. They just leave it to the students to figure out for them selves

3 College Sophomore

Technology: It has a nice, well maintained campus with all around classes, and the buildings provide good internet service. Walkways are crowded and filled with people, and you will have to dodge oncoming bikers and skateboarders.

3 College Junior

Transportation: The shuttles could be better/faster. They are not always as reliable as they could be, but they're still not bad. Also, KnightLYNX and the airport shuttles are awesome.

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: The area around UCF is above average for a college town. There are multiple grocery stores right around campus and some shopping plazas are only a 15 or 20 from campus. There seems to be one of every restaurant around campus so there is always somewhere to eat. What many people do not realize about UCF's location is that it is not very close to the theme parks and attractions. With good traffic, it is a solid 30-45 minute drive to get to Sea World, Universal, or Walt Disney World. The area around UCF is contemorary and clean but can have more of a mature, suburbian, feel rather than that of a true college town. The downside to the UCF area is that students heavily rely on car transportation to get around town, to work, and to classes that are located off campus. With so many students driving, the roads can be crowed and dangerous.

Guys & Girls: there is a wide variety of people. anything from farm kids to surfers to activists and preps. a lot of them come because it's Florida, and you can generally tell who's a native when it gets cold

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: there can be quite a lot of peer pressure to drink and party, whether it is to prove yourself an adult or part of the frats. I don't think it is any better/worse than other colleges

4 College Sophomore

Weather: Florida has it's bi-polar moments but most of the time it's okay. Always, always, check the weather and carry an umbrella would be my advice.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: I'm a minority and I haven't run into any problems with a lack of acceptance. The school is the 2nd largest in the country but it's predominantly white. There are tons of clubs though that cater to a wide range of people; supporting those different beliefs, ethnicities, religions, political beliefs, sexual orientation, etc.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Tons of emergency stations everywhere. Police ride around on bikes at night. RHAPs and RAs do rounds to make sure students around the housing communities are safe. SEPS give students rides or walking escorts around campus on sunday-thursday 7pm-1am if they feel unsafe.

4 College Junior

Majors: Getting into the forensic science program was very easy there was no application or anything like that to get in I just had to regester with my major and that was it.

3 College Junior

Academics: Some of the professors in the chemistry/ forensics program are really good professors, and some of them are horrible, but there are more good professors than bad. Just make sure you talk to other people in the program and use rate my professor so you know what to expect.

3 College Junior

Diversity: The campus is pretty diverse and there are several clubs that cover many different diversities. So if your looking for people that are of your religion or race there is probably a club for it.

4 College Junior

Academics: I'm a forensic science major at ucf, our major is very small an I know all of my professors for my major classes. They have all worked in the field and grade fairly.

2 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: The girls wear extremely provocative clothing, gives off wrong signals to the guys. The guys typically wear khaki shorts above the knees, boat shoes, and sunglasses around the neck. Many like to go out to the clubs and parties. Many interested in clubs, frat and soriority events, and athletic events.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Some of the food choices are decent, but others are have pretty poor food conditions.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: They offer a few scholarships, but they don't make them known to the students on campus clearly, and they are difficult to obtain.

1 College Sophomore

Greek Life: The Greek life is incredibly supressed due to the constant hazing and alcohol related accidents.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The campus housing is adequate but there are many shootings at off campus housing

1 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: There are a ton of high and drunk people in the classes and i don't understand how none of the campus officials notice.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: There are many different cultures, creeds, beliefs, and races at UCF and the actively attempt to incorporate each into events.

4 College Senior

Diversity: I am not a minority (I'm a white, hetero female), but I have many friends who all come from different racial, sexual identity, and social class backgrounds. Everyone seems to fit in very well and I have never heard someone say they felt discriminated against or unwelcome at UCF. We have many, many student organizations and a lot of them are geared specifically towards minority populations.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: There are unlimited dining options near UCF. Lots of chains you'll recognize, but also several independently-owned places where the food cannot be beat. Hummus House is my personal favorite for Mediterranean food.

3 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Housing: there are smaller quieter communities that are very nice to live in. however they tend to be further away from campus.

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: Beautiful campus, you have to walk to most everything on campus but it is not a bad walk.

3 College Junior

Transportation: The campus shuttles can be unreliable but they are free.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
