Local Area: UCF has an amazing atmosphere. The area around campus is beautifully kept, with an outdoor recreation area complete with a lake. The gym offers outdoor adventure trips on a monthly basis. Shopping is fantastic, with major malls within driving distance. Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World are only twenty minutes away. Cultural events are a norm, because of the amazingly diverse population.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: I came to UCF for the Biology Program! The Pre-Med track is well prepared, and there are many opportunities available to the students in terms of research and experience. However, classes are sometimes large to a fault, but the SARC and Supplemental Instruction programs help students get clarification that they otherwise would not have been able to receive. Professors are almost always available during their office hours, and the advising staff are lovely! Workload is manageable, and there are numerous study areas (All Knights Study 1 and 2, Technology commons and the library) that offer resources to help with the workload.

Parking: Parking at UCF can be a serious pain. It's always impossible to find a parking spot except maybe on the 4th floor of a garage at the beginning of the semesters. I live 5 minutes away but always leave 30 minutes before my class to make sure I have time to find a parking spot. Also, the ticketing can be ridiculous.

Weather: It's central Florida so the majority of the time, the weather is very good. Summer months consist of a lot of rain. Winter is very bearable and spring is nice too.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Food: The places to eat on campus are a nice variety. There are definitely some places that can be taken out...like Burger King...not many people eat there. This is a "Go Green" generation.

4 College Senior

Campus Quality: Considering that UCF is a fairly new school, most of its facilities are much more technologically advanced than the other schools that I've visited. Coming to school every day is far from a drag. I love taking the drive around the university's main road around campus: Gemini Boulevard. From Greek Row to Brighthouse stadium, there's always something to look at driving around campus. Even studying on campus is cool, too. Places to study are extremely resourceful with all the tools I need to succeed.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: it's very confusing, not much aid is given out, and it's extremely difficult to reach the office- i'm still struggling to get it all straightened out

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: There is a huge variety, mostly hipsterish but not many dress to impress- as far as guys go. They can end up looking messy. Girls are normally very chiche, clean, and fashion foreward.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: school spirit isn't amazing because it's such a large school and the other schools around us generally have better athletics.

5 College Senior

Diversity: UCF has a diversity in every thing and every where. for instance diversity are in ethnics and economic back grounds, and of course political, religion, and sexual orientation. Because of these diversities I feel a great acceptance and less challenges because diversity allowed me to experience a great opportunity to know and to be introduced to great people and new cultural ideas and friends. UCF is the best!

4 College Senior

Parking: NO PROBLEM PARKING EXCEPT IF U DON'T HAVE A TAG YOU WILL GET A TICKET

Campus Quality: The University of Central Florida is, fittingly, a school that’s spread across the middle of the state. Though the school is based in Orlando, there are more than 10 regional campuses in locations including Daytona Beach, Ocala, and South Lake. Freshmen at the Orlando campus are not required to live on campus and, due to limited spaces, those who hope to are encouraged to apply early for housing. There are more than 40 fraternities and sororities in the school’s large Greek system, as well as more than 300 other student organizations to consider joining. The UCF Knights compete in the NCAA Division I Conference USA.

5 College Senior

Campus Quality: My school is extremely welcoming. The individuals here want you to love being here as much as they do. The people here want to help you succeed and to me that is rare. The first day I stepped on this campus and met my orientation team I knew this was where i wanted to be and I made the right choice.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I get a few scholarships but I think there could be more.

4 College Junior

Majors: The program I am involved in is all about music performance. To be admitted I had to compete for a spot in there music classes. This was done through auditions the year before school started. The main focus was them trying to evaluate my potential.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: The group I have had the most experience with has been very preppy but outgoing and not really stuck up. These are the people I have met through Greek life.

4 College Junior

Majors: There are some hard classes like with any major at any school but the professors are all very helpful and they push you to reach your full potential.

4 College Junior

Majors: I am still in school but at this point I wouldn't change a single thing.

2 College Sophomore

Administration: There are strict policies set in place at my school but I don't think they're taken very seriously. I see and hear kids breaking the rules all the time and nothing is done and it is frustrating. Maybe it is because no one is there to stop them, like for noise violations or something. It is hard to enforce rules when those breaking them aren't taking the system seriously.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: There are buses to and from off campus housing and it is free which is nice. However you have to figure out the times and what route and where to go just to know which one to get on. I don't know where to get this information either, I think that should be made more clear. Plus I'd rather have my own car and own space than ride a bus with strangers.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: There are many kinds of sports to participate in at UCF. However I am only interested in some. For example, I like yoga but most of the classes are at weird times, and it's hard to find someone to go with me. Or I like to dance but the dance clubs are either too big or too serious, when I want to exercise and have fun. We do have pretty good fan support at UCF. I do think some of the reasons people go to sport games is because they give out free things like t-shirts though.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Food: I didn't go for the meal plan myself since I knew it was not in my budget. But aside from that, I knew that I was going to be considering all of UCF's dining options, not just the Marketplace of Knightro's. Recently though, they've made it possible to use your meal plan for fast-food venues on-campus; such as Chik-fil-a and Subway, I think even Kyoto too. UCF is as diverse in dining as it is in population. That's saying a lot!

2 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: UCF has recently become a "smoke-free" campus, with signs plastered everywhere. However, it's obvious that it's going to be awhile before students and staff really take that into consideration. We might have to wait a few years to see it actually be enforced.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Moving in from a different city, the difference in personalities was very noticeable. The guys are pretty cute and very amiable. Always holding the door for you! The girls are mostly average, some more. They're always dressed for the occasion.

5 College Senior

Diversity: I feel like UCF is a giant melting pot. All people of all races and religions from all over the world come here. UCF does a great job with accepting a variety of students and it keeps things interesting.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
