Majors: To be in an engineering major at UCF is to be stressed with the course load placed upon your shoulders with the time constraints allowed, especially if you have a job to work at outside of school. But although the program is stressful, I do enjoy it overall because I honestly do enjoy to learn new things and love to learn how things work, which is engineering. Some fun aspects about my program though are the cool clubs available at UCF and the internships with major companies through the university as well. An example of these would be: ASE (Society for Automotive Enigeers), and Lockheed Martin CWEP (college work experience program).

Majors: I haven'f officially had an internship through UCF yet, but I do have an interview with Lockheed Martin next week and am very excited about it. I had some initial concerns with finding an internship in my field of study because there are so many brilliant and talented individuals out there that it makes it a very competitive opportunity. I think one of the things that helped to set me apart from the rest in being selected for an intership position was my work experience in the field of manual and CNC manufacturing.

Majors: I am very happy with the engineering program that I am in at UCF. There are so many opportunities presented to the engineering majors to further advance their knowledge of what engineering is like in the real world through clubs, internships, co-ops, and work experience programs. Its alot of to me to be honest, regardless of the rigors of the courses. As long as you put enough time and effort into those courses and manage your time wisely, you will have plenty of time to do other really cool and fun stuff. If I had to start all over from the beginning, I would happily do it all over again. My career goals for the future are to work at a major aerospace/mechanical engineering company in the research and development departments hopefully. I find that discovering and building new things or improving on old things is very exciting.

Majors: Any engineering major at UCF is fairly easy to get into when it comes to being put on a pending status (which means that you are intent on majoring in the field of engineering but just cant officially declare it yet). In order to officially declare an engineering major though, you have to complete calculus 1-3, physics for engineers and scientists 1-2, and chem. for engineers. Although those courses do not add up to many classes together, the rigors of each course should not be underestimated. If I could offer a tip for being able to officially declare an engineering major, it would be this: DO NOT follow the college stereo-type of hanging out with you friends and going to parties all the time. Always allow yourself time to take a break in between studies but if you want to excel in your courses and ultimately excel in your major, you must commit the time and effort to do so.

Diversity: There are a variety of diverse people who attend UCF. There is a majority of white people but I don't believe it is by much.

Transportation: UCF provides shuttles that take students to and from school. Waiting for the shuttle takes forever. If I have a class at 1:30 I have to leave at least an hour early just so I have enough time to catch the shuttle and walk to class. The shuttles are supposed to come every 15-20 minutes but in reality it takes up to an hour just to catch the shuttle at my student housing development. Leaving campus is also an issue, the shuttle takes about 45 minutes to come, and when it does it is packed with students leaving very little sitting room and many people have to stand.

Off-Campus Dining: Ptia Pit a great restaurant with great healthy food choices. I am sent coupons to my email every month, but I don't believe there is a student discount. Everything seems fresh and the prep area is always clean. The staff seems friendly even when they're slammed and trying to speed along the line to keep up with the lunch rush. I also like that they stay open late, which makes it convenient for those late night study sessions.

Parking: As I mentioned before I go to a regional campus. The parking is great there! I never have any issues with finding a spot, and the lot is fairly close to the buildings I have class in.

Health & Safety: I feel safe. But I would certainly feel safer in a group or with someone. Never walk alone at night. But the campus is generally safe. The security is always there. You can always call if you need an escort.

Guys & Girls: You find a on of different guys and girls at UCF. They all have different ways of dressing from preppy, to goth, to sporty. Most have ways of transport from skateboards, bicycles, and scooters. There are a lot of people interested in athletics and working out.

Diversity: There are a lot of different types of people at UCF. Full of a ton of organizations that follow different beliefs. Every Wednesday there are a bunch of groups outside letting us know about themselves. including political groups, LGBT clubs, and religious organizations. UCF is the second largest university in america so you would expect to see this.

Campus Quality: This campus is extremely large and as a first time student it can be a bit overwhelming learning where everything is. It is a gorgeous campus that has a lot of benefits. I can see and understand to what my money goes to. Many of great resources for students! My only complaint is the lack of relationship between the main campus and the other campuses. I have to attend classes on the hospitality campus and I hate to be so absorbed in my major and classes. It major annoying that I never know whats going on main campus.

Diversity: The University of Central Florida has an extremely diverse campus. In almost every class you take you will find a diverse group of students ranging from different countries, religions, etc. Since diversity is so common at the University of Central Florida there is high acceptance for these students.

Drug Safety: The drug scene is barely existent at the University of Central Florida. It is rare that you will even see people smoking cigarettes because the campus is a smoke-free campus. Drinking, however, is visible and accepted for tailgating on campus before the Knight football games.

Technology: Our school does have many computer labs, and access is quite good for students. However, our network has so many users on it that at prime times it can be very slow. Our campus has many online classes, so if you're trying to complete online course work on campus at prime times this can create trouble. However, the availability of computers for students who cannot afford their own is very nice!

Greek Life: Greek life at my school is very large, however the view of greek life by non-greek life is not good. The fraternities and sororities are anti-social with other students, and quite pompous. Also, many of our greek life chapters have been suspended due to violations of conduct. I am proud to say that I was NOT a member of greek life at my university!

Campus Housing: Going to the 2nd largest school in the nation, it can be very inconvenient to find adequate parking and get to class. It often takes a great deal of time to get to class, which leaves less time for studying/extracurricular activities. This was probably my chief complaint with the University I attended.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
