5 College Junior

Athletics: Athletics are very important to every student and faculty member here on campus.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Overall I feel that the health and safety of the campus is great!

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Overall the off-campus housing selection is pretty good. There are ones available for all costs and convenience. You are bound to find one that fits your needs.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: I love off-campus housing. Since UCF is so large, there are tons of off-campus housing options that are much cheaper and nicer than dorms. You can find a clean, fully furnished apartment less than a mile from school for $550 per month (this includes everything). There are cheapter unfurnished options, luxury loft options...you choose!

Athletics: There is always some sort of athletic activity going on--football games, intermurals...if you want it, you've got it!

2 College Junior

Scholarships: Problem with UCF is transfers rarely get scholarships.

Administration: I can tell you campus parking is strict-they will find you and fine you if you're doing something wrong.

Campus Food: I don't do campus dining in the sense of a meal plan, but on-campus dining options are awesome. You can get anything and everything for less than $7--sandwiches, pizza, desserts, Mexican, Asian, and Mediterranean bistro, Kosher options...

Drug Safety: If you don't want to partake in the drug scene, you won't. I've never seen explicit drug use on campus.

Weather: Central Florida is hot in the summer and spring--there is barely any air, and it's not the most pleasant. But fall and winter here are beautiful--a crisp breeze, temps in the 60s and lower 70s, and sunshine. It makes up for the hot summer months.

Off-Campus Dining: You can find EVERYTHING on University Drive--from typical fast food chains, late night bites, fancy restaurants, and ethnic restaurants. Heck, there is a Polish and Russian restaurant nearby with delicious food. The restaurants really cater to students and most offer discounts. You won't be hungry!

Academics: I love being an English major and Communication Sciences & Disorders major. It keeps me busy, but they are interesting and the professors make it worth the time. They are inspirational and dedicated.

Academics: The professors I've had so far this semester have all been very knowledgeable on their topics. They stay after to speak with students and rarely let us out early because they cover all they need to in lecture. One of my professors always checks the clock to make sure she starts right at the dot to make sure she doesn't waste a minute of our time, or start too early, to be fair.
Curriculum is not extremely challenging, but it is enough to keep you busy and learning. It's more than enough to prepare you for your career.
Registration is easy--the better the GPA, the earlier you register. You have a specific time slot that you will get an announcement for in your e-mail before that date, so you just keep that in mind and you can put your desired classes in your "shopping cart" online so that when the time comes to register, you just click "Register" and the classes are already in your system.

Majors: I am a double major in English and Communication Sciences & Disorders, so I can speak for both departments. UCF overall is great with communicating through e-mail, which is great because you always know what is going on. In both English and Comm Sci, I feel a great sense of community--there is no competition; students are always working together on projects or studying. The professors I've had so far have all been very knowledgeable and helpful. There are plenty of opportunities in both deparmtnets if you look--internships, clubs, research...just get out there and look :)

Overall Experience: I transferred to UCF after being at another smaller state school for my first 2 years, and I don't regret it for a minute. The university really supports its students and offers you so many options--there are so many degree programs, job fairs, internships, clubs...if you look for something, you will find it. The only key is that YOU have to look--no one will do it for you. As long as you can navigate a larger campus, speak up and get involved, you'll feel at home here fast. It's my first semester and I've already met many wonderful people and have had opportunities here that I would not have gotten elsewhere. Join a club, speak to your advisors, and jump right in. The UCF community is open and waiting!

Diversity: UCF is wonderful for diversity. You will meet all walks of life here, and the university really promotes diversity of all sorts. You can be conservative here, you can be liberal here, you can whatever sexual orientation, religion, or race--you will find your niche. I have yet to witness any animosity or discrimination.

2 College Junior

Parking: You can either pay $100 for the year for a parking decal that you'll still have to battle with for a parking spot, attempt to use Garage F (behind the CFE Arena) where parking is free most of the time (except during events) but is usually full and is far away from everything, pay $5 for a parking spot per day, or live in an off campus community that has a shuttle service to campus (this is the cheapest option, but not always convenient. I do it any way).

Party Scene: Orlando is a great city because it is large, but has a small-town feel. Around campus, you can find plenty of bars and clubs that cater to students and the deals are great. There is also downtown Orlando not too far away, which offers other options for nightlife. You'll never be bored!

4 College Senior

Scholarships: Some of the finacial aid assistants were not so helpful. It is very important to get everything in a timely manner. Fill out any forms completely and if you are not sure on what they are adking for on the forms go or call there before filling out the forms.

5 College Senior

Health & Safety: Alerts are given via texts if safety issue arises. I have yet to encounter any threats to my safety. Overall, I feel safe on campus.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: Getting financial aid was easy, the key is to just fill out your FASFA as soon as they allow you to. If you make any mistakes they notify you before its too late that it affects your financial aid situation.

4 College Junior

Local Area: Scenery is nice, transportation is easy there are always shuttles and everything is pretty to close to everything so you can easily bike or walk to something.

5 College Junior

Athletics: Love our athletics. The gym is huge and is always bumping with students. Our football team is doing great this year and has tons of fans support. Knight pride is prevalent even when they are doing poorly. School spirit is huge.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: I have never lived in the on-campus housing but have visited a friend who lived in the Towers and those were extremely nice.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: I honestly do not know. I am not in a frat and do not care to be.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
