Technology: Wireless access is pretty prevalent through out campus. There are some dead zones though. Campus tech support is pretty helpful. Printing is widely available, there is limit on free printing. Overall everything works pretty well.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Many systems in place; however, there is no way of knowing when the bus will arrive. Wish there was twitter feed giving updates on when scheduled stops are early/late.

Off-Campus Housing: Finding an apartment is not a problem. Because Orlando is such a busy city, there are always options for apartments, houses, and townhouses nearby. A main issue is the cost. Some places are under $500 but a majority that I have seen are over $600 for anything close to the campus. Subleasing usually works best. Another major concern is safety. Living in Orlando, our area already has a high crime rate. It's like that anywhere you go, regardless of apartment, but the safety programs are nice.

Off-Campus Dining: There is a huge variety of restaurants surrounding UCF. Just on University road, the one that leads to the school, there is a whole row of restaurants. You can get anything from fast food from famous chains to local favorites around the corner. About 5 minutes from the campus there is also Waterford Lakes, where local favorites are found within this shopping plaza. Also, the school is conveniently located 20 minutes from downtown, the heart of ethnic food.

Local Area: Orlando is a great town, UCF is located about 15 minutes away from the downtown area and about 30 minutes away from most major theme parks. Since Orlando is a tourist town there are a lot of shopping opportunities around the entire city.

3 College Junior

Parking: always crowded, hardly any space should have seperate parking for main campus students only

Weather: The weather here in Orlando is so unpredictable, indecisive, and bi-polar. One minute it will be sunny out, and the next it will be a torrential downpour of rain, but only briefly. Winters are warm. I've found myself at the beach on Christmas Eve a year back.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: The University of Central Florida likes to keep their reputation for having good integrity. Tailgates are the best. The university drops its no-open-container policy on game days which makes tailgate a blast. Although cops walk around undercover trying to bust underage drinkers, its best to keep it on the down-low. Dorms are co-ed living and if you're 21, you're allowed alcohol. Policies the university likes to enforce though is if you are caught with illegal drugs, arrested with a DUI, etc., the University will temporarily or permanently suspend you.

Local Area: The University of Central Florida's location has so much to offer. From shopping, to amusement parks, to college bars, the beach. Theres so much to offer here. UCF is quite different from most schools because it is one of the newest Universities. Unlike most universities where the town is built around the school, UCF was built around the town. This offers the luxury of having its own close-nitch community with the locals while still having that university, college-town feel. Only a short drive away from downtown Orlando where there a plenty of clubs, restaurants, sport/concert facilities its an awesome place to get away to on the weekends. UCF is also close to many theme parks including Disney World and Universal Studios.

Majors: The digital media major I have just recently declared, was a pretty easy transition. The advisors in the program were very easy to talk to and help a lot when deciding what classes and who to take them with and when. The transition was very smooth with no admission requirements other than the core curriculum.

Majors: Just recently, I switched my major from IT to Digital Media. After my third major change, I am ready to stay put and become one of the best in my field. If I could do it all over again, I would do a lot more research on all that is available and chosen the right major for me. My career goals are to become one of the best digital media designers around and work for a major corporation developing advertisements or websites. Getting to know professional people, especially your professors makes the concern for finding a future job less of a stress.

Weather: It rains in florida a lot durring summer and fall. It si to be expected but UCF has many options for transportation. Most of your classes will be in the same vicinity based on your major however.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: I am a Marketing major and have been extremely satisfied with the professor knowledge and energy for my 3000/4000 level courses. They truly make me feel that they care about my knowledge and retainment of information not for just my graduation but for my future career and success. Dr. Messiah is such an available and energetic teacher she will make non marketing majors reconsider!

Scholarships: UCF does make student verification a bit of a pain but if it is done directly through the IRS link site which they give you a link to, I have found this to be most simple. They are after that very proactive about applying scholarship funding you qualify for without you having to fight for it or make several submissions/emails/calls. I do not know that I would rank them as an A but surely a B+

Academics: UCF has the second largest student body in the US. They offer a wide variety of programs and degrees and have excellent learning options from a local regional campus if you do not live in orlando or near main campus. They offer an excellent video stream option for many courses that allows working students to watch lectures at a convenient time and take tests in a window of a few days at a regional or main campus. I feel the teachers there are very dedicated to student success and not just teaching as a requirement of their research as an employee of the university.

College Junior

Guys & Girls: I just started at the university and most of my classes are online or big classes where I don't have any individual time with them. In the classes I have been in so far, my class mates seem respectful and are really into their studies.

4 College Junior

Majors: I chose to be a Social Work major because I am passionate about helping others. My only concern is that I may have difficulty finding a job without my masters degree. My overall goal is to earn my masters degree in Social Work so I can become a professor or a clinical social worker and help others cope with mental disorders.

3 College Junior

Majors: The process of getting into my Social Work major was not that difficult. I Had to write a personal statement about my background and why I want to be a Social Work major. After I sent in the application, I had to make sure there weren't any holds on my account by providing documentation and proving that I was a citizen. The final step was to meet with an adviser to discuss my plans for my career.

4 College Junior

Majors: I am a Social Work major and I am extremely satisfied with my classes. The Social Work professors are extremely passionate and the classes really help prepare you for a career. Taking classes on site can help you get acquainted with others that share the same interests.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: UCF campus life is exceptional. There is always something to do, and it is always safe. Dorms are spacious and close to most eating establishments and events.

4 College Junior

Campus Food: There are a variety of options for students to eat on campus. The food is high quality and is accessible to those with or without a car.

3 College Junior

Party Scene: At UCF there is always something to do at night and the scenes are usually safe and fun!

Weather: The weather in Orlando Florida is very inconsistent. The sun could be shining one minute, then moments later rain will pour for half an hour, and soon after the weather could call for a jacket. All I have learned from my campus experience is be prepared for anything!

5 College Freshman

Weather: The local weather rarely affects my day-to-day experiences at UCF. Sometimes the rain is aggravating but it is Florida so the rain, hot and humidity is a given here. I'd just recommend getting a rain coat and boots for rainy days that you have to be out and about. Also if the weather gets bad, or there is a weather alert UCF will keep you updated, be sure to sign up for their emergency text messages and emails.

4 College Freshman

Academics: I came to UCF because of the reputation of its College of Education and so far I love the courses that have been offered in my major. I take a lot of online courses and haven't had a bad experience yet. I have liked all of my classes thus far except for one. The courses that are Gorden Rule are very rigorous in writing, online and in class, but this is the intention of the Gordan Rule component. Most of my courses have their tests and quizzes online which I think is the Best Ever. Now with the new webcourses we use here at UCF your grade is calculated automatically, assignments are shown, professors can comment on your assignments and emailing your professors is easy. The professors I have had are very helpful when you come to them. In exception, I have had only one professor unwilling to help his students. Look at rateyourprofessor.com so far it has been VERY accurate with all of my professors.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
