Campus Housing: Living on campus is highly recommended for your first year at the university. The dorms are clean and the RA's make you feel like home. Living on campus is very convenient and you get to meet new people. Furthermore, freshmen are more involved on campus when they live on campus opposed to commuting. You also have more time to meet up with study groups and spend more time at the school library or join tutoring and supplemental instruction.

Majors: I do plan to have an internship as a Communication Sciences and Disorders student. I do not have any concerns in finding an internship as the professors and counselors in this major are very helpful and give us many opportunities to strive for our goals.

Majors: As a Communication Sciences and Disorders major, I am very happy with my program. I am aiming to apply to earn a Ph.D., which I think is because of the program at UCF and the opportunities we receive within it. My career goals start with working for a year in between my undergrad and grad. Then after receiving my Masters, I would like to work in a home-health facility as well as in a hospital to give my time to the elders. After that I would like to open my own private facility and teach in Universities. I do not have any concerns in finding a job since there are so many opportunities out there in different fields within this major.

Majors: I am in the College of Public Health Affairs and I am very satisfied with the classes and professors so far. It becomes like a great family and the professors and counselors are always available to assist when in need. In our senior year we get the opportunities to work in internships to explore the field more. The workload and curriculum are straightforward and goal oriented.

Majors: Getting into the Communication Sciences and Disorders program was fairly easy. First we declared our major and then were accepted into the program with high expectations.

Local Area: Orlando is a place where you can always find something to do. There is no way to become bored with all the theme parks, clubs, fine dining, and great shopping. Around the school in particular I always feel very safe. There are blue protecting lights that you can press if you ever feel unsafe and not one has ever been pressed. I walk back and forth on campus at all hours and have never felt threatened in any way. In addition, there is no need to worry about getting involved on campus. There are easily over 300 clubs to join and the Greek life is 60% of the school so if anyone is ever feeling out of the social loop there are so many ventures they can partake in.

Majors: I am currently an Event Management major at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management with a minor in Entrepreneurship. I have a year and a half left until I receive my Bachelors and thus far love everything about the course of study that I have chosen. I believe that this is the right career path for me because I like having a different routine each day. I could never see myself working the typical 9am-5pm desk job that most Americans settle for. Event Management is a course of study that can lead to a career that is ever changing each and every day. I know this because I completed an internship in fall with Evolve The Group – a top production company in Orlando. During this internship I held various positions at many different events and implemented my own plans to make them successful. When I started with this company they had only been established for six months. This allowed me to provide constructive feedback to improve the internship program, and gave me the empowerment to contribute my own ideas to each event held. My ultimate goal is to always provide customers with a positive experience, which has allowed me to develop excellent communication skills. I am also a hard worker and have always been considered a personable and reliable employee, as I find it easy to get along well with customers, supervisors, and fellow employees. In addition, since this career path requires exceptional organization and multi-tasking skills, I would like to stress my ability to balance my time. I have had to improve my time management skills since beginning college due to the amount of involvement I wanted to have in the community between being apart of a sorority, taking part in various clubs on campus, and also having time to work and support myself.

Off-Campus Housing: I think Off-campus housing at University of Central Florida are not the safest places to live. Although the prices are reasonable, these areas tend to be crime-ridden. 10 minutes from campus are somewhat safer than right across the street, but the prices for the apartments are unreasonable for the apartment size! You win some or lose some, but there are so many choices it should be easy to find an apartment nearby campus that one would like.

Weather: Being in Florida, the weather tends to be bipolar. So you can get soaked walking to class and as you reach your destination the rain has stopped. Otherwise, the days are usually beautiful sunny days but can be extremely humid!

4 College Senior

Athletics: There is a lot of school spirit on the UCF campus especially at football and basketball games. Students are so supportive and it makes attending sports events so much more fun!

5 College Senior

Campus Food: Wide variety of restaurants and popular menu items that can accomodate anyone from vegetarians to meat eaters.

4 College Senior

Administration: The campus security and police can be strict about certain policies, but they are all very reasonable. It's important to just be careful especially if you are underage doing something you shouldn't be! Grade forgiveness is also a great school policy in regards to student academics and GPA.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Very interactive, and the sutdents are always contributing to daily activites and rallys for games

2 College Sophomore

Parking: Someone I know missed a class because he spent the entire time looking for a parking space even after arriving on campus early.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: The process of getting into the nursing program was frustrating at times. The key is to make sure you attend the information session and speak with an advisor as early as possible.

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: There is basically everything on campus. Its like a small city in Orlando.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: Because it is always available to get you to and from campus anytime

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Most people are interested in or are in Greek life

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There are many clubs and organizations for almost any religion, political group, or interest.

Health & Safety: At UCF, I feel great concern for those living on campus after that day this past March where a student committed suicide in the Tower dorm, with a plethora of handmade explosives and numerous guns. A friend of mine lived four doors down and had never even seen the guy before. As the police escorted the students out of the dorms, they were yelling at students and not giving them any information. This would make me feel very uneasy. I believe in the Orlando area, security measures and routine dorm checks would be extremely beneficial to the safety and comfort of the students.

Drug Safety: The drugs that i have seen are mostly just driking. Although it depends on who you associate yourself with. To do well in school it is important to associate yourself with the right people.

4 College Junior

Academics: I came to UCF because of the wide range of degree programs at this school. The curriculum can be challenging but it helps me learn in the end. Studying is important to do well.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are many office campus housings to choose from and two of them are UCF affiliated. They can be on the expensive side but the rooms are decent. Some tend to have a little more violence in them than others. There is someone always trying to sublease their apartment either because they find a new one, moving, graduating, or leaving for summer. Its pretty easy to find off-campus housing and most of them have shuttles that take you directly to UCF's campus.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The restaurants near UCF do not have much variety. They consist of the regular known restaurants like: Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Bahama Breeze, Macaroni Grill, Apple Bee's, TGIF's, Smoke-Bones, and many more. The typical fast food restaurants consist of McDonald, Chick-Fil-A, Burger King, Wendys, Taco Bell, Chipotle, and many more. For the more nicer restaurants, you can probably find them near International Drive and Downtown Orlando.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: UCF's athletics are pretty big at the school and a number of students do go out and support. The biggest of them all is the football program. Before every football game, students and fans from the community come out the Memory Mall on the campus and tailgate. It is a really big part of game days. There are numerous of people everywhere. Different clubs, organizations, and Greek life set up in different spots among the students and fans and partake in the tailgating. The Wellness Center is two story with cardio on the top floor and weights on the first floor. The Wellness Center offers many programs from therapy, classes, rock climbing and many more. Some of the IM sports take place here and in the area. The Wellness Center is accompanied by a lap pool also with lifeguards on duty during pool hours.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
