5 College Senior

Majors: I love beingin the college of Health and Public affairs. I enjoy my current major as a Comm. Disorder. There are lots of new and interesting things to learn about the human body and what makes us able to communicate verbally. As a Comm Dis. major we have hands on trainings in labs and clinics as well. We are taught how to diagnos patients with certain speech or/and communication disorders and how to treat them properly.

5 College Senior

Majors: Ucf is the second largest University in the nation. Therefore, they offer a large amount of majors and internship opportunities. As an Communication disorder major, I will have the oppurtunity to do some clinical work in the clinic on campus. My responsiblitiy is to diagnos, and treat individuals with speech or language problems.

2 College Sophomore

Administration: MALL-oriented courses are very strict and unnecessary. The overall cold environment is frightening and hinders the learning experience.

3 College Senior

Campus Food: It's decent, but you get easily tired of it. The food isn't exactly the best, but it's better than a few other places. The coffee there is great. It might be better to just get food in the Student Union or other places instead of paying for meal plans and going to those establishments. They earned the C+ grade, but other places on campus are great and closer to where classes might be. You just need to know where to go.

5 College Senior

Majors: I have had numerous internships while I've studied here and the opportunities are great! You just need to know where to go. My department hosts internship fairs for students and they get the chance to speak with pretty impacting companies in the area. They usually work with you to find different opportunities. It's great!

3 College Senior

Scholarships: I haven't had any problems with financial aid, but that's because I stay on top of my things. Sometimes things get lost and you might not know about it until it's almost too late if you don't keep an eye on it. The people there are happy to answer questions and genuinely want to help, but people end up going when things take a drastic turn. Just be careful and stay mindful of your money.

College Senior

Athletics: I usually don't pay too much attention to the athletics on campus. I don't participate in them but I know people who do. People try to make a big deal out of the football games, but most people only go for tailgating. At least we get part of the day off because of the games, but traffic gets pretty bad around campus once it gets closer to the game. The school is trying to think of ways to get students to come to the games. These include free tickets, giveaways, discounts on food and other things. I just haven't gone, so I don't feel that I could give an accurate grade.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: The campus is pretty safe during the day. You just need to be a bit careful at night. But I feel safe when I'm on campus. I know where the emergency poles are and the emergency numbers for escort services and other useful numbers are on the back of the ID cards. UCF police respond quickly and are really nice, too. Just understand that their job is to make sure that students are safe (meaning don't make them mad for no reason).

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Academics at UCF are high quality. The professors are knowledgeable and helpful for the most part. As with most large schools, general education classes and intro classes can be quite large, sometimes with 200 or more students attending. However, upper division classes are generally much smaller and more intimate. Students can connect better with each other and their professors in this classroom setting. While upper division classes might be more challenging, students are more engaged in what they are learning.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Sports at UCF are pretty popular, and the majority of students have fantastic school spirit. Football is, of course, a big part of campus athletics. The Knights are one of the best college football teams in the south! But football is not all UCF has to offer in the athletic department. There are a number of sports teams a student can join or cheer for at UCF including soccer, rowing, tennis, cross-country, baseball, softball, basketball and even golf. The training facilities are well-kept and spacious. Students who aren't part of a sports team at UCF can take advantage of the Recreation and Wellness Center, which houses a multitude of workout machines, swimming facilities, and other physical activity equipment and resources.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: As a biology major, I can say that I am very pleased with the quality of staff, facilities and opportunities that are available to me. Although the work is challenging, it is high quality. The professors and department staff are all very helpful. They enthusiastically answer any questions or try to help me with any problems I may have. Many of the courses are also very unique. For example, there is a course that involves a SCUBA trip to study aquatic life! There are also many research and internship opportunities in the biology department. Students can pursue work on campus or sometimes have the option to travel to other locations to study specific plants, animals or ecosystems. This is extremely important for networking and preparing for your biology career outside the university.

3 College Senior

Technology: Having you're own laptop is usually more convenient, but with the amount of computers that there are on campus, there shouldn't be a reason for missing assignment deadlines.

1 College Senior

Parking: Horrible! The parking permits cost about 50 dollars per semester and you are designated to one parking lot. I might have to get a bike, considering the prices and the time it takes to actually find a parking spot.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: Although, UCF has a larger campus compared to my previous State College, I have always felt safe knowing Campus Security is never too far away. This campus is also well lit.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Campus life at UCF is awesome. There are so many ways to get involved. UCF has some great sports teams. Not into sports? No problem! There are many other clubs and organizations for students. There are also many research and volunteer opportunities around campus, which are not only an outstanding career booster, but and excellent way to meet people. I'm feel very lucky to be a part of the UCF community.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: UCF is a relatively new school (less than 100 years old) with many modern buildings and amenities. The insides of the buildings are very clean and well-kept making it very welcoming to students and visitors alike. UCF is a large school with a sprawling campus. The circular shape of the campus layout makes it easy to get to where you need to go, and also makes it less boring in that it is not based on a typical grid or square layout. In addition to the modern buildings and the creative campus layout, the UCF campus is adorned by beautiful native Florid plants. Walking to class sometimes feels like a walk through a botanical garden! Not only is UCF aesthetically pleasing, but the school also has many resources for students. These range from sports, volunteer opportunities, social organizations, student advising and counseling centers, and much more. In short, UCF is a fantastic school!

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus. We have our own police station and they are constantly around campus. There are emergency stations everywhere in case you need them and police will arrive in less than a minute.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Student discounts are available everywhere. Prices range from cheap to expensive. You can find every type of food.

2 College Sophomore

Weather: Rainy days are horrible and when it gets hot, you feel like you want to go run into a pool.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: We love football. Almost every student goes to the games especially during football and basketball season. School spirit is a big deal.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Student Union is pretty unique and the center to student life.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Quality: The student center is fine, but definitely nothing amazing.

1 Recent Alumnus

Diversity: It's not really that diverse at all -- mostly white kids.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Quality: Certain areas of the campus are neglected compared to the busier ones.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Housing: It all depends on your roommates, honestly! The facilities are okay.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
