4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: There is always a lot of things going on at night in Orlando.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Students are not under peer pressure to do any drugs or drink.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Traffic can be bad most of the time when driving around town.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Living on campus in very convenient for students to get to classes on time and not have to worry about parking.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: The internet is hard to connect your computer to but once your computer is connected the wifi works fine.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: The campus is not too strict on many things but when it comes to student's safety they ensure nobody gets hurt.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Too big for their own good.

Local Area: It's orlando! There's a million things to do!!

Off-Campus Dining: Pretty much every restaurant available!

Weather: Walking with a backpack in the heat of summer can be excruciating. However it's very nice in the winter since it's never that cold.

4 College Junior

Athletics: The main gym on campus is almost always full. If you're looking to go when there aren't many people there, go early in the morning. There is another, much smaller, gym open to all students. Often times off-campus housing will include a gym for their residents. The main gym even has a rock-climbing wall, which is pretty awesome.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: Your typical college housing - there are a few places that make you share bedrooms with others, while most have private bedrooms, which is, apparently, quite a luxury to other college students.

Local Area: We're less than 30 minutes from downtown Orlando. That means we're quite close to Disney, Sea World, and a myriad of other theme parks. If that doesn't float your boat, there are tons of local restaurants to try out. Still nothing you're interested in? Well, the beach is less than an hour away. Talk about a great location. If you long for small-town charm, there are multiple towns nearby - one of which often has cars stopping for the local chickens crossing the road. Unless you're looking to go skiing, there's pretty much something nearby for everyone.

Weather: We're in sunny Florida! There are only three downsides to that fact. 1 - It gets quite muggy here during the summer. 2 - It rains quite often during the summer. (The good news is that the rain doesn't usually last too long.) 3 - It never snows.

4 College Junior

Diversity: There are tons of different religious groups on campus. There are also atheistic groups on campus. There are groups that support LGBTQ students. Overall, everyone seems to be very accepting of others' beliefs.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I hardly receive financial aid, all because my parents make a decent amount. my parents do not pay for anything of mine, i pay for tuition and books and living but they have to claim me as independent and so now i never receive financial aid and its tough. sure the staff can pity you, but they cannot offer you anything, i can receive loans from fafsa application, but i do not want to deal with loans, those are more headaches, and so instead i work overload at school and work.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Its not as bad as engineering or comp sci, but its still up there. workload is average, depends on how well you can get your work done and how accurately you take in the material the curriculum is straigh forward and pretty easy, expect one or two classes that you share with engineers and comp sci. as far as internships and job opportunities go, its not how i would like it to be, ucf doesnt seem to offer many scholarships or internships for IT students

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many places to go out and eat, its wonderful. my only reason for my rating not being 100% is the price and distance. if you don't have a car you have to do delivery because it is not walking distance, and usually delivery requires a minimum amount purchase, which you may not be willing to spend the amount they require.

2 College Sophomore

Transportation: Taking the lynx bus to and from school is a 2 hour ride with transfers and is cheaper than driving. driving to and from school is 45 minutes with $9 tolls and $9 gas roundtrip daily. on campus, they have localshuttles to take you to off campus housing and to areas withing the campus itself.

Drug Safety: Its pretty bad how much people smoke and drink. But its pretty amazing how none of it is on campus. students usually take part outisde of school, in their off campus housing

1 College Sophomore

Weather: Florida is known for terrible weather. its either too hot or too humid or too rainy, and UCF being an open campus school getting from one building to another, or class to parking garage proves to be a nuisance.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: I wish UCF had more on hand computers they have labs and workshp[s, but they are not open to the public. the only public computers available are those in the library and let me tell you, those fill up fast. It is very important to bring your own laptop or tablet to do you work, because there is an abundance of chairs and tables and benches and desks EVERYWHERE, supplied with outlits.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: In the three colleges i have attended since high school, id have to say UCF has had the most safety and security personnell, it can be because its a fairly large school, but it can also be because they want a safe and secure environemnt. They are always sending out emails about alerts they have seen or recieved and about what parking garage/locations will be unavailable and when.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Im just 80% happy with my major, because although it is something i enjoy, it wont give me as much finacnially as a compsci major would (what i was originially in). i know, "it's not all about the money", but you have to agree, thinking longterm, supporting a family and yourself, you dont want to struggle or have to go back to school constantly to be up to date. I think the best solution to maximazing the benefits of my major is to continue to grad school in a higher field of IT. I have qualms about what i will do and how it will all play out, but the advisors at UCF and people working in the field have proved reassuring.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: The most important criteria is getting good grades, that's honestly what its all about. i slacked off my freshman year and failed a few classes and got a 2 semester probation from ucf. it really opened my eyes, and i buckled down on my work big time. the hardest thing wasn't admission into ucf the first time, it was readmission into ucf after i got on probation. i had to maintain B's in my classes, and had to meet with the readmission personnel, who really lectured me and told me to consider a different major entirely. Aside from that, the college of Engineering and computer science is probably the hardest college to get into for UCF, being as that is their core region. They want only the best, and you have to work hard to stay here once you get in, it's no game.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
