Campus Quality: Library seems kind of old. They recycle everywhere though so that is good. Nice athletic center. Many places to eat. Quite a variety.

Campus Quality: It has a great gym. I go there every chance I am on campus. Very big gym, multiple machines, multiple treadmills, free classes on a wide variety, free condoms and testings, multiple courts for different sports, not too crowded.

Guys & Girls: Well, it is hard for me to say because I have not gotten to know many guys outside of my social group, but the guys seem pretty great. Many of them are very hospitable and kind. The guys who I hang out with specifically are amazing gentlemen, the most amazing guys I have ever met. They truly care about women and upholding the dignity and value of the ladies around them.

Health & Safety: There are lots of security measures taken. Campus police are always around if you are willing to take the time to find them. There is a campus police station on campus and a fire station and hospital as well. Robberies are very rare on campus. There is not often violence. Every now and then there will be an incident in a parking garage. In general theft is not a problem. Drinking and drug use is under control. Most of the pathways are lit at night, especially the major ones.
The only times I feel unsafe are when I have to walk around campus late at night. The escort service only runs until 1am, so if you have to walk through campus after that it can feel unsafe. I am not normally out that late on campus, but during finals week I often wrap up studying after 1am and have to walk 20 min to my dorm across campus in the dark and alone

Parking: There is a lot of parking on campus, but it still fills up quickly. Distance depends on if the lot closes to you class is empty or if you need to park in an alternate lot. In general you can always find somewhere to park, the question is whether it is close to where you want to be. Housing parking is a nightmare on weekdays though.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: Strictness is kind of in between. Some areas are stricter than others, and some people are more strict. Housing life tends to be pretty lenient because the RAs are not very strict. In areas outside housing though it can get pretty strict. Parking tickets are given out a lot and they are VERY serious about J-walking.

Greek Life: I really don't know a lot about Greek life on campus. I know we have a large Greek population and it is a pretty major part of campus, but not in such a way that everything evolves around it. So if you are not Greek, like me, it can be easy to forget that they are around.

Majors: I just started my program, but I have hear very good things about it. I am in the school of hospitality, which is one of the areas UCF is known for. Since UCF is in Orlando and so close to so many tourism industries, it is a great place to study hospitality.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I plan to have three internships. My major requires three paid internships, which are all worth college credit as well. UCF is very good about trying to get students into successful internships.

Off-Campus Dining: Being in a larger city like Orlando means that there is no limit to the dining options off-campus. You can basically find any kind off food right near by. There is a good mix of popular chain restaurants and more unique places. Costs very depending on the restaurant. Like I said you can find EVERYTHING. So whether you want a dollar menu item or a gourmet $60 feast you will be able to find a place near by within your price range.

Off-Campus Housing: There are TONS of options for off-campus housing around UCF. There are a few locations that are still UCF affiliated- I think three complexes. Then there are many apartment complexes that are non UCF affiliated. Some are still only offered to students, some are open to anyone. They come with anywhere from 1-4 bedrooms. Some come completely furnished, some are unfurnished. There are a couple that allow pets. Almost all of the complexes in the surrounding area have free shuttle buses that go to and from campus. It is not hard at all to find a place off campus. They are typically very spacious as well. In general a lot of the off campus options run cheaper than on-campus housing.

Athletics: GO KNIGHTS! I love the sports atmosphere at my school. Football is definitely what we are most enthusiastic about. Game days are crazy and exciting. The student section of the stadium is always packed completely. Fans have so much enthusiasm and there are tons of traditions. Tailgating is always fun too.

Overall Experience: I love my school. I never thought I would like going to a state school because of the size. Now I am attending the second most populated school in the nation and I don't mind at all. It does not feel as big as it is. They do a really good job at making a huge school seem smaller. Classes are usually pretty good and fair. The campus is beautiful. There is always something to do, whether it is an event put on by the university or something going on in the surrounding area. I have an amazing group of friends who I met through one of the organizations on campus and they have made this past year at UCF the best of my life.

Transportation: I don't have a car so I get most places by walking. Almost anything I could need is on campus or just outside of campus. Since I live on campus the only times I need to leave are when I want to go out with friends. In these cases I usually grab a ride with a friend. From my very limited experience though the shuttle bus system seems good. It is free and there are many stops around the area right outside campus. Most of the shuttles go to off campus housing locations, but some bring you close to shopping centers and grocery stores. The buses are fairly reliable. Long distance can be a little more difficult as the main bus station in Orlando is on the other side of town, but if you can get a friend to bring you to the station it is not bad.

Academics: Well, I just switched my major so I have not really started out yet, but I have heard amazing things about it. I am in Event Management with the college of Hospitality. One thing the college of hospitality is great at is getting students well prepared to enter the field. There are tons of opportunities for networking and becoming involved in your focus area. For my major their are three required paid internships. It can be a lot of work but it is worth it and it is all very interesting information. I enjoy learning it.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Overall the academics are pretty good. Just like with any other school it really depends on what you study as they are more known for certain areas than others. UCF is most known for their Engineering program and their Hospitality program.

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: There is a lot to do around the UCF area. There are plenty of places around campus to shop, eat, or just hang out. On campus there are many popular chain restaurants, lots of clubs and organizations, and other activities to get involved in. There is never a dull moment

4 College Junior

Local Area: Orlando is great. It's a lot better than the city I came from I could definitely stay here.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Same as on campus stuff, you will find off campus, plenty of popular chains available.

5 College Junior

Weather: Florida Weather is great. It is sunny and rainy randomly.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: I lived two years on campus housing. I lived Freshman year, in double occupancy room with a bathroom that we shared with another double occupancy room. Sophomore year, I moved off campus and lived with friends. Junior Year, I moved back on campus into an apartment style dorm with my own room with random people. And next year I plan on living on campus again. I chose to stay on campus as much as I did because of the amount I spend on campus. The year I left on campus I would get to campus early, and stay their very late every day, and even went on campus on the weekends. It was my best option, it's always a case by case basis. But the quality of the housing is good, and of the housing staff. I mainly just care that it's my place to sleep.

5 College Junior

Athletics: Intramurals are great, and well organized. Most of participants is with clubs and groups and Greek organizations and is used as a good way to get together and have a good time. There are different league based on level of competitiveness so people who like to compete are given competition and those out there for fun can do just that. Varsity Athletics is doing a good job at marketing to the student body and increasing national name recognition of the UCF brand.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: I went out a lot, and then I stopped, because it's not something I like too, also I was underage most of my undergrad and didn't become of age until I was a senior, I save my money and only go out on special occasions it makes it more fun then going out every weekend, you have your whole life to go out, but you'll only be in college for a little bit.

5 College Junior

Majors: As a college student, you have to be open to taking an internship that may not even be exactly what you want to do after college, but taking an opportunity gets you experience, networking, and knowledge of a job that you may not want later in life. Don't turn down a position just because it's unpaid that is something you can earn a lot of valuable experience also if it's a reputable company nobody is going to care down the road how much you earned. Availability is high, and there are a lot of opportunities that students pass up because they often feel some positions are beneath them. It's important to not believe in advancing quickly when you first start, get the experience now, try not to think to far ahead all the time.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: I rated it as okay, because prices are obviously higher the closer you are to campus. It's definitely cheaper than on campus. But 5 minutes down the road isn't necessarily an inconvenience either, and the campus shuttles make having a further apartment totally okay. Anything that isn't specifically student housing is something you might want to watch out for, you don't have the convenience of separate leases and being surrounded by students. Management at these places can sometimes be unprofessional or ill managed being that most managers are younger people. But if you don't really care about that kind of thing, off campus housing is great because of the freedom you have, and the responsibility you feel. Most places are furnished and people often find houses they can go rent that are even cheaper than student housing. It's all about preference.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit.
