Campus Housing: Housing and the staff are absolutely wonderful. They make it where the students can get involved and everyone is very friendly

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: All of the off campus housing, affiliated and non-affiliated with the University are great. They are all associated with the UCF shuttle and it goes to each of the off campus housing communities every 15 minutes which is efficient going and coming from classes on campus

Health & Safety: The Health Center located on the UCF campus is a great facility and everyone working there are very helpful and kind.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Financial aid was not hard to get, but if you do not have your taxes done right away, it might cause some problems.

Local Area: At the University of Central Florida, there is always something to do, at any time of day, from checking out different stores at the Waterford Lakes shopping plaza or all of the different places down University Drive. Not to mention that Disney World and Universal are only 40 minutes from the main campus and only 10 minutes from the Rosen School of Hospitality, which you can take a shuttle to from the main campus.

Off-Campus Housing: It was difficult for me to find the correct "atmosphere" that was best for me to live in. I lived in University House when it first opened, but it wreaked of weed and alcohol all the time. Parties seemed to be constant and I had a hard time dealing with many of the residents. I was working a 6AM schedule, so I didn't have the time or patience to party. However, I soon moved out and found an amazing place. I live in Camden now. It's affordable, safe, and calm!

Majors: I'm a Psychology major with both a Cognitive Sciences and Biology minor. I've been a part of a research group since my Sophomore year of college and I've been a TA for multiple classes. I believe my hard work in my Psychology classes really made me stand out. I was very adamant about being ahead of the rest. My program allowed me to be. The workload is what you make it. I've always taken the most difficult classes in order to feel like I've really learned something. My internships with the labs and professors have always been fruitful.

Overall Experience: This school works with me very well. I personally prefer large class sizes. My typical class consists of 200-300 people with labs that correspond to the course only have maybe 30-50 students. I like the large numbers though. It makes me feel less anxious. I detest online classes, but thankfully I've been able to avoid them. One major complaint I have is trying to make a schedule when classes are unavailable. However, I believe that can be said about any college.

Local Area: Of course it's crowded in Orlando, but there is always something to do. I love it here. There is Downtown Orlando full of life, art, and music. There are also plenty of beautiful nature trails around campus. We also live to some of the most popular theme parks in the world.

Athletics: Our school has great school spirit. At UCF being a part of the action is what it is all about. Our team has been doing wonderful in the football fields and many of our other sports are at the top of nation!

Campus Housing: I've only lived on campus for a year. It was my freshman year. I lived in an apartment style dorm with each girl getting their own room and sharing two bathrooms. There were 4 of us. The atmosphere was great. We had a courtyard shared with the other dorms where cook outs were held. I was conveniently placed near all my classes. It was wonderful! The amenities were nothing to be desired, but something about having my own room was worth it.

Party Scene: I'm not a huge "partier" but when I do decide to go out I always have a great time and a ton of choices. I'm a pub type of person. The pub I always goes to certainly positively impacts the student experience. It's just a bunch of people together commiserating and supporting one another through the trials and tribulation of getting a degree.

Off-Campus Dining: Off-campus dining is great. Different variety of cuisines. You have fast food to high quality restaurants all minutes away. The cost varies, but for the most part it's very reasonable. The percentage of restaurants that have student discounts would be about 30%. I can tell you first hand, that I'm blessed with all the different dining options! My favorite places to check out are: Chipotle, Lazy Moon, Jersey Mikes, Kyoto, Steak and Shake, Four Rivers and Buffalo Wild Wings!

Campus Housing: Living on-campus has tons of perks. Living in a dorm you don't get as much space as off-housing places, but it's the perfect place to start if your new trying to locate everything. There's a preference page on the website that matches your roommates by the survey they give to give you the best experience possible. The worst thing about living in a dorm is the privacy. The walls are very thin, and you can hear everything your roommates do. It's the best option because all the action is right outside your door. On-campus definitely has all the amenities there. All of the amenities are in walking distance. If you love meeting new people tis is way to go. No matter the time of year there's students everywhere. University of Central Florida is the second largest university when it's comes down to enrollment. I can say for myself, the social atmosphere is only getting better and better! The cost is for sure the down side. It's very expensive to live on campus compared to off-campus housing. What makes up for the cost is the convenience. Almost everything you need is in walking distance.

Off-Campus Housing: Living in off-campus housing has it pros and cons. The great thing about it is you have more privacy, and could decorate the place the way you desire. It's always going to be less cost effective then if you lived on campus. Landlords are more laid back, then the on-campus housing RA. The cons on the other hand out weigh the pros in my opinion. Living in on-campus housing has the student close to all the action. The convenience is amazing! All the concerts, the sports played, fitness centers, food etc. You can park almost anywhere as you long as you have decal. Off-campus parking is usually limited but free. On- campus housing definitely enforces safety procedures more than off-campus housing would. Theirs a police station and fire department only minutes away to take care of any issues. Living in on-campus housing hands down gives you the college experience your looking for!

Majors: Enrolling at University of Central Florida was a game-changer. I was taking a completely different major at Broward College, then I am now. Currently my major is hospitality. Hands down one of the best decisions I could have ever made. Pursuing the hotel aspect of hospitality is where my main focus lies. They were some difficulties changing from a different major, but honestly it was for the better. So far, the most important criteria I've needed was having the transcripts sent and ready. My program had a normal application process. The one enormous tip I can give is having time management. Plan everything out accordingly before you get to the college. This will honestly keep you in tact with everything you do, keeping you stress free and ready to conquer anything!

Administration: University of Central Florida is an amazing school. It offers you many resources and activities to have the perfect college experience. No matter where you go you'll always find restrictions. I believe these restrictions keep us safe and deliver protection to our future careers. Keeping the rules set and enforcing them will affect students' social and academic lives. Personally, I feel it can only benefit both topics. When it comes down to the academics, students need to be able to study and maximize their education to the fullest extent. For example, finals are the most important weeks for a college student. They will make or break you depending on how well you do. If there's a noisy crowd in the library where you're studying, the student studying will most likely lose focus and everything they try to gain from studying goes down the drain. Keeping restrictions will only help the students' social lives. Alcohol will impair anybody's judgement that can possible destroy another students social life. Our campus is dry, and enforcing this keeps everyone safe and puts their social life in their own hands!

Athletics: Even though there could be some improvements in school spirit, the athletic facilities are top notch and they reflect how important they are on campus. UCF also has a great recreation and wellness center and it's the best gym I've ever been in.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: I had an overall good experience with financial aid. There were times when I had to pay out of pocket, but scholarships covered the majority of my tuition.

Administration: There could be some improvement in some areas, however the academic policies have been very consistent.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: There are many great resources that help students in maintaining their safety. Students can request that security take them to their car if they don't feel comfortable walking alone late at night.

4 College Senior

Local Area: The overall atmosphere in the Orlando area is great. There are great places to shop and relax. There has been some recent increase in the amount of excitement in the local sports around Orlando as well.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I had no problem with my financial aid. However, my friends who took out loans had a hard time receiving them and had to wait a while for them to become available.

4 College Freshman

Majors: My major does not require an internship however the internships my friends are partaking in have no pay, but they provide very good experience. Being in orlando there are internship opportunities everywhere. UCF even has special search engines dedicated to helping students find a perfect internship or job called "Knight Link" and "Campus Jobs".

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Everyone here is super nice. We have a diverse population of students ranging from different cultures and backgrounds. There is not a specific look for the average UCF student. Students generally dress down for class, but when anyone goes out effort is put into their style and look. A lot of kids use longboards to get around campus finding them to be more convenient than walking or biking. Student relationships with each other are really good, there seems to be hardly any drama.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
