4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Nachos from Freebirds, buffalo chicken cheese fries from IV Deli Mart, and Blenders are very tasty.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Downtown Santa Barbara has a lot of nice restaurants.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many options in Isla Vista for food. From Indian food to sushi to hamburgers, all restaurants are pretty cheap and walking-distance from each other. A lot of places are open late on weekends which is really nice for those who need a snack after a night of partying.

Isla Vista has restaurants that serve up anything you might crave. Each restaurant is within a five-minute walk from each other. If you’re an early bird, make sure to grab a breakfast bagel at Bagel Café, or if you’re on the run, grab a smoothie at Blenders in the Grass or a pick-me-up at the Coffee Collaborative. For lunch, you may want to stop by Silvergreens for healthy alternatives like soups, salads, and sandwiches. From Asian to Italian and Mexican to American, students living in Isla Vista are able to find restaurants that are convenient and great quality, whether they’re just looking for a quick bite or a group hangout.

For those who want to get out of the Isla Vista area, the city of Goleta surrounds the small town and offers many dining choices. Goleta has several local healthy restaurants such as The Natural and Fresco cafés, which are great options for inexpensive choices, chain restaurants such as Chili’s and Elephant Bar, and several ethnic restaurants, too. Just a 15-minute ride down the freeway, Santa Barbara has a large array of restaurants from which to choose. Perfect for birthdays or dates is Palazzio, where you are likely to spend a good $20 or more. There are many places to eat at off campus but be advised: Both food selection and price increase as you venture out of Isla Vista and down the freeway into Santa Barbara.
